yea so as the topic suggests....y r we attracted to the opposite sex? or...some of us?XD ya kno wut i mean...
is there like a specific reason? or is it the religious reason of god creating us to be this way? psh.....i came across this topic wen i was in health class...*shudders*
well yea feel free to express yer opinion...i kno the topic is like....off........but i was just curious..

It's hormones and stuff. That's what I think. X is attracted to Y, not talking female and male, just attraction of chemicals.

Well.... Just because you are attracted to the opposite sex. Easy as that.

I don't really know why I am. It's just this "thing" that makes you like them. Even if there total jerks sometimes....

If people weren't, the human race would never have continued. And there is some evidence to suggest that as population grows and quality of life rises, more homosexual activity tends to show up in a society.

its just how nature works. but i dont know how anyone can be gay.
(i have nothing against gays)

yea i agree and its been that way since we first came into this world its a habit you could say human nature.

Maybe it's because we're more interrested in something that's different from ourselves both on the inside and outside... and want to explorer new things and such... or maybe it's just like Kitone said, with the hormones and stuff >_>

From a purely biological reason, men and women attract each other in order to reproduce and continue the geneological line.

From a social point of view, men and women attract each other as a function of social interaction. It is an extension of that biological necessity that familial units of men and women first began. Over time, that simple social structure evolved into the modern human gender relations dynamic.

He he, sounds like that book: The Giver.

hmm......interesting....wut if we didnt have the hormones and stuff? would we still be attracted to our opposite sex? or like how did we get the hormones and wutever...did they come from a long line of monkeys?o.O

Someone's got an interest in sociology.

Hormones are testosterone and the like. It's the stuff that makes us mature physically, thus the attraction, if you think about it. My socials teacher last year told us she doesn't teach grade nine or ten because of all the hormone crazy teens pawing at each other... lol.

Though it's being proven as genetic, I've more or less chosen to like the opposite sex. I could like the same sex, but I don't want to. I enjoy the beauty of women, they're ideas, laughs, smiles. I just don't see myself with another guy.

Yes, I do actually have an interest in sociology. Maybe I'll take that as my minor in college. lol.

Please don't say that. I really hope I don't sound like a book..... -_- *me sad now*

i think we are attracted the opposite sex is becuz maybe they have something we dont have...maybe becuz we r different in interesting ways making us unique which makes us want to learn about one another, and find out more bout them as well......thats my logical theory...^^''--> and dont get any rong ideas...>.>

Don't be sad. It was a very interesting book on society if you ignore the storyline.

eee! the giver! our class was suppose to be reading it but we read sumthing eles instead! grrr...i wanted to read that bookie! cuz the old man on the cover looked so wise!=]
i love wise ppl! maybe its becuz im not wise...hmm...>.>''
*ahem* anywho..is the book good?

Yeah, I guess. I didn't like the writing style though, and the lack of interesting climax stuff... storyline was pretty good, no holes. Got a bestseller award I think.

Evolutionarily speaking we need people attracted to the opposite sex to continue on the species, it is a survival adaptation. Then perhaps, people who can overcome this natural inclination on their own are really remarkable because they have overcome this primal instinct. Sorry, just a musing, too much time in Bio class! ^_^' [In case anyone was wondering, I'm straight.]

If speaking in terms of evolution, the instinct would only persist as long as more children were needed as population grew a higher percentage of homosexuals would be present in that population. I don't think it's just evolution based becuase strict societies tend to have less obvious expressions of homosexuality (though I suppose it's still possible that they have a higher percentage that is gay).

but...wen ppl fall in love with girls/guys in like grade 5 or sumthing...dey dont really understand about this whole continuing species thing...rite? i think this subject needs furthur investagating..>.>---> as in more insights are needed!^^
all opinions on this subject are welcome!

Love and attraction can often be two different things.

I don't get attracted to the opposite sex. And just in case you're wondering, I don't get attracted to people of the same sex, either.

cann't get all comment in this forum cause' i'm poor in eng' language ^^; but can read ur title & i'm the one who attracted to the same sex '.'~ no matter what other think but thought, it's the best to be myself ^^~
