Hm... I think persistence is more important. By genius, I'm assuming you mean
that this person can do it easily in whatever area. Anyways, I think persistence
is more important cuz genius is something natural. They're already good at it,
so it's not like taking that extra step to accomplish it. But with persistence,
the person is working hard to reach their goal, despite whatever hardships they
face along away. Personally, I think that's more "appealing" (can't
think of the right word). I don't really have any examples...
But say, person A is a math genius and person B is a normal math person. So on a
test, they end up getting the same mark (95% - just to say). Since person A
usually gets around that mark, it wouldn't really be anything new. But person B
would have to have studied regularly just to get that mark since maybe they
usually get 80%.
Ahaha, how nerdy... Math... Lolz. It's the only thing I could think of. But yup!
I think persistence is more important then genius. A genius can only get so far
without trying That's what I think anyways. I guess it really depends on the
situation though. Cuz if it was something else like music or art, I'd appreciate
both... hehe.
Well, I consider persistence a kind of genius. By here, I'm defining
"persistence" as "determination." I mean, not many people
have the concentration and will it takes to succeed and to achieve something. If
you're going to say "genius" as in "smarts"...even that's
not entirely helpful. You could be a genius, but without direction, it's just
wasted energy - nothing gets done.
As for examples...I could give you a personal one...By all accounts, I'm not a
musical prodigy, but when I started the violin, I would literally practice for 8
hours a day. Just play whatever songs I could get my hands on, in competition
with myself. I ended up getting second chair of first section by the time summer
was over, and I joined our middle school orchestra and got into honors district
afterwards, on the bass too. I've considered that to be one of my best
accomplishments, so yeah xd;
it's kinda funny...i just had a convo about this...
personally both are important, but i root for persistance. persistance requires
taking that extra step and applying what you've learned. it also takes
self-disipline. it's soo much work! but that's why i admire those people who
have that persistance.
on the other hand, geniuses are just naturally born with that talent. who says
they'll apply it? i know so many innately smart people, but they don't apply
themselves and are lazy bums. on the other had, those with that original
artistic ability, it's hard to achieve such a skill without the talent.

*wow, stares in
amazement* i couldn't even bring myself to practice half an hour a day. i
applaud you! that so cool in how you found something you didn't mind working
for.
When it comes to achievement, which is more important: persistent or genius?
Give some examples.
I want to see your opinions, hehe.
