Hi, does anyone here know jabber? I just registered an account (uzumaki_naruto@jabber.org). I am a linux user and the Icq clients are still not 100% compatible because it is, like msn and aim and yahoo and blabla... a proprietary protokol. Jabber is an open protokol and clients are available for almost all os´es. If you have an account fell free to mail me^^
What is your opinion about it?

its good for Linux, thats about it thou. for windows theres better multiclients, traillianFREE, and Gaim for instance.

I use Jabber, it stays connected much better and more stable than AIM or MSN. It's great for conferencing too (business tries to meet in IRC but sometimes not all of us can make it... so we use Jabber).

I use it on Gaim, it's a great IM Protocol. :) Also setting up my own jabber server on my computer... XD

It is an awesome client. I highly recommend it to everyone. I am cargo@jabber.dk and I also run the MT Jabber Messenger Users group. Feel free to join and post your client and username in the thread, I will gladly add you to the member list.

Jabber is amazing. jaim.at is an amazing server, with an online java chat applet too. It's got all the popular transports too.

Always a big plus. The freedom of client choice and server choice is one of the coolest features.

hmm, yet another user ignorant of what and how cool jabber really is.

I'm breadcrust@jabber.org. I've always found it to be more reliable and quicker than any other protocol (although YIM seems just as quick). I agree with boris, the huge amount of clients out there rules, and its easy to make a basic client if you are a programmer.

I do have a Jabber-account but I rarely use it as all of my IM-contacts are icq- or msn-users.
