im old school (at least thats how i feel...since its so fricken slow) my laptop
that i use to view anime is 1.8ghz celeron w/512 ram and some crappy on board
video. and my bro's desktop (which i use for leeching & dvd burning) 1.2ghz
athlon w/512 ram. both running win xp pro. i love that i have an external
enclosure for my 250gig harddrive (filled almost to the brim with anime &
music and misc stuff) but i will say i do not recommend buying an external
enclosure for internal harddrives. i highly recommend getting an actual
standalone external harddrive because the component external enclosures are very
sensitive...at least thats my experiance. oh and remember battery backup is your
friend (especially when you have an external hdd). i dont have one cause im too
poor.
I have a crapload of computers. The main current boxes:
Athlon XP 1800+ with Gentoo Linux
Pentium II 400 MHz file server with Gentoo Linux. Soon to be dual processor.
Mobile Pentium II Engineering Sample 433 MHz, IBM Thinkpad 600e. Gentoo
Linux.
Mobile Pentium II 400 MHz, IBM Thinkpad 600e. Gentoo Linux
Dual Pentium Pro 200 MHz, Gentoo Linux
Pentium II 266 MHz, Gentoo Linux
Pentium 133 MHz, Gentoo Linux
Direct paste from my website. I have 2 more pc's but one is r.i.p and one is
used by my brother. Here they are:
Trance - My workstation (2003- )
2 x Samsung SyncMaster 959nf monitors, AMD Athlon xp2700+ processor, 2 x 512 MB
ddr 400 memory + enough hdd space. Running on Windows XP pro
Mizuho - My server (2004- )
ibm monitor 17", AMD Athlon xp2700+ processor, 1 GB dual DDR 400 memory
(512+512). Running with Debian Linux!
Haruka - Test server(2000- )
amd Athlon 1333MHz, 512mb sdram memory (256+256). Running with Ubuntu Linux 2.6!
Running off a P4 2.4GHz (Northwood) and an A64 3000+ (1800MHz, Winchester), with
1GB CAS2 pc-3200 RAM each. Former runs WinXP SP2 and latter dual-boots between
WinXP SP2 & WinXP x64 SP1.
They do the jobs I ask of them perfectly well and, most importantly, are dead
quiet (thanks to Zalman, Antec, Arctic cooling, and others I forgot to mention
).
mine computer is not that new i bought it in oktober
an athlon 64 3400+ proccessor (2400MHz) with 1024mb ram in it and a harddisk
with 160 gig and i also got an at radeon 9600xt edittion 256mb overdrive
supported but i don't really inderstand mine 3d card (there are sometimes litle
problems with it)
but it's working fine that's important right
can easily go to MT and other sites playing on-line games and playing animes
very well and that's it
My CPU is an amd64 3500+, currently I'm running Linux Fedora Core 2 for x86-64
with a self compiled 2.6.7 kernel.
I'll probably upgrade to Fedora core 4 soon.
hey just wonder what everybody is packin under the hood my pc atm is at 3.80 GHZ P4 with HT technology and Windows Media Center
I have 2 computer, the first one use 2.66 GHz P4 ,and the second one is P4, 3.00E GHz, HT and Windows Operating System for both them
Ive got an Apple G4 Running OSX horribly slow because I use it for animation, and I was too stupid to
buy an external hard drive.

I'm on my 3.0GHz w/HT at the moment with Windows XP Home Edition. Although one could say that core frequency doesn't really mean all that much...
CPU : 2.8 GHZ Operation System : Microsoft Window X.P Pro Service Pack 2
mine is a 256ram, 2 GHZ P4, X.P Home Edition, SP2.

getting a Centeino M laptop ~1.6GHz and 512M ram on winXP
might put another 512 stick in the main computer

Though newer, this thread asks for everything this one does, and more:
