i've screwed up my main partition that contains my xp install. i've recovered my
important files, and used a tool to fix the mbr and the partition table. i have
another xp install now on a different harddrive and i can access my main
hardrive and the partition normally now in windows.
of course that drive/partition won't boot anymore.
is there someway to make my main disk and partition bootable again?
i'm really bummed by the thought of having to reinstall every single thing.
i also tried the xp install program (boot from cd) to see if it could
fix/rewrite the mbr, but the cd won't recognize my old xp install, just this new
tmp one.
I would say maybe setting the problem drive as the main one so the computer
tries to boot off of that one and boot off of an XP cd and try running check
deck to see if it will help to write over any errors. Otherwise the hdd might
just be bad now, and is telling youu that its time to put it down. I'am not sure
if this helps or anything.
