Hiiii MT's.... *sighs* I have chicken pox (OMG, it sounds really bad in English... "varicela" in Spanish sounds better :hmpf: ). Thanx to my dear nii-chan for contaminating me! >=0000000~~~~~!!!!!!!! Mum says I'm a strange case coz of having this illness at 16...

Bad goodies:
I must stay at home for 2 weeks, all my poor body itches, my throat, eyes and lips hurt and with that damn mentholated talcum powder makes me feel like being chewing a non-sugar gum all the time o_0 .

Delicious goodies:
No school!!!!! XD But only 1 week, then winter holidays start... (remember that I live in Argentina, South Hemisphere, here winter is from 21st June to 20th September.) Also I have to drink 7up (luv it!!! :D) instead of those $0,60-lemonades, coz of occasional fever (here's a tip: 7up is good for fever!). Then... let me see... internet at home? Yeah! Didn't I say this before? I used to have no Internet at home, but mum thought I'd be bored and now I have it :) Thanx mum!!!!

Meaw... (like one of my wallies) I'm still too bored. Thankfully I have my PC, telephone (not mobile, I HATE them!!!!! >=( ), PS One, TV and some mangas and magazines... this will be pure leisure :nya:

Tell me if you had/have chicken pox! I want to hear your stories! (And if you can, also any special trick to stop this damn itch!!!!)

Ugh, I had chicken pox some 10+ years ago one summer. At least I didn't have to worry about school because it was vacation time. I felt terrible all over when I had the disease. I don't think you can do anything in terms of applying medicine because that could make it worse. It's better for the disease to go away naturally.

really? I've never had the chicken pox, tho I'm not suppose to ever get it either because when my mom was pregnant with me she had the shingles(sp?) and I've also had the shot but I've had friends who've had the shot but still got it.

my brother got the chicken pox by licking one of my popped pustules.

think of it this way: it's better to get them while you're younger. it hurts more when you're older.

I had chicken pox ages ago...I think I was only 8 years old. It itched a lot, mainly on my back, and my mom put this pink lotion stuff on me all the time, I think it was called Calamine lotion. And I had to miss a week of school, which sucked. But I've heard it's better to get it when you're younger, so I'm glad I did. I hope you feel better soon though. ^_^

Wow chicken pox, poor you o.o Yea, it's a lot tougher on you when you're older, I got mine when i was around 6 or 5 ^^; Don't remember much about it, I didn't need a lot to stop myself from itching... but yay for 7up XD Hope you get better soon, it may be tough sometimes but only lasts a while ^-^;

Poor sweet Aoko-chan! **big hug* Chicken pox? Sounds horrid.
Sixteen sounds like a late age to have it, remember not to pop them; scars are not a good look.

To help recovery... don't go out into the wind and stick to the "pure" and "cool" foods; that is... no mangos, red tea ( *nods** green tea is fine though =3) mandarins are a no no, dates are bad to eat too at this stage. ^__^

Plenty of rest and I hope you'll get well soon sweetee.

Better now than later :)
Some even have it at 20-30 or even older, which is worse.
You're lucky XD

ah... i had chicken pox when i was in nursery... hehe... didn't do much to me... XD

I got the chicken pox when i was about 8, it wasn't too bad juss got to sit and watch tv and read archie comics the whole time so that was fun, i can't remember itching lots tho??

If ur looking to stop the itching u could try Calimine lotion, its a brownish pinkish color and it might sooth the itching :D

Get Better!!
Moonbaby

awwwweee poor aoko-chan..you have the chicken pox at 16? wow...i got mine when i was 5 or 6..>.<;; well.. all i remember that i stayed home from kingdergarden and it was ichy, very very ichy!XD hehehe...well its good when you get it over with!=D
but if you get it at an older age like 30 or 45, you just might die from it..=[ at least thats what i heard from ppl!=]
hope you get well soon aoko-chan!=D

Meaw... thanx all you people... I'll try the Calamine thingie. Although now the only thing that itches is my back (which always itches...)

Yeah I had chicken pox when I was really young too. Like grade one. I heard its better when you're younger. My friend got it recently and he's like... 20 + something odd lol can't be bothered thinking of his age. But his was pretty bad.
Any way the only things to say are... Hope you get better soon!
and
Don't scratch! You'll leave scars =x

Had chicken pox when I was younger and it was itchy and no real cure for the itchy part unless you have some medicated cream for it.
I ended up giving it to my sisters too.....I don't believe they have ever truly forgiven me for that.

Best of luck to you and hope you get over this quickly!! ^_^

Sorry to hear you have chicken pox. Don't think I ever had it but I had friends that did...

Hope you start feeling better soon!

:(

oww. sorry Chicken pox r worse the older you are apparently. just try not to get anywhere hot that will make the itching crazy.

Quote by Aoko-chanOMG, it sounds really bad in English... "varicela" in Spanish sounds better

Actually, the technical term for chicken pox in English if Varicella, with 2 L's. And I like the real medical terminology better as well.

Look on the bright side, you can only get it once.

Owch, thats sad! I got the chicken pox earlier this year as well, at the horrible to have it age of 17(not even a month away from 18). It was horrible and now I have some scars that aren't fading really well. It looks like acne scars although they aren't and I've never had any, my beautiful unflawed skin looks kinda bad now. Not too bad, the scars came from me rubbing them off in my sleep, not scrathing.

*Edit* Just read the post above me, it's very very rare but you can get it twice. I did a paper on this for my writing class right after I got it. Also, watch out for the shingles, you can now get them. They are usually caused by stress and look like a hybrid of pimples and chickenpox. :(

Oh man, that sux!!! I still remember having Chicken Pox (I have no idea why they call it that) in the fourth grade (age:10-11) on Valentine's Day week. I still have a couple of scars from where I scratched nonstop on my shoulder. That week was awful!!! But the good news is you only get it once, at least that's what I've heard. That was nice of your mum to set you up with internet! I didn't know that 7up was good for a fever, but my mom always gave it to me whaen I was sick too. I hope you get feeling better soon!!

YUp, don't even try scratching it, I know its ichy but it will cause you scars like what happened to me. Its been ten years yet I still have those scars.

Yup, I had mine when I was little and as others have already said, it's much worse when you're older. It's so bad that some die when they got chickenpox as an adult.

i'm 22 and i've never had chicken pox.. my brother had it when he was 8 and i always play with him or share the same bed with him when he had it. But i never had chicken pox..
