old ppl shouldn't be allowed to play kid games like mario and stuff like that. i find it totally strange to see an old person sitting in front of the tv trying to get past a certain lvl in a game and they never get past it; they always end up dying. i really don't see the point of an old person playing something that they will never win at. plus the fact that when a person gets older their memory becomes worse, so they shouldn't be allowed to play video games that are made for kids.

Well I guess what is you definition of old. 20 to 35 grew up on video games and arcades. 40 to 55 are the parents of the gaming generation and they were involved in what their kids were doing. Any one older just needs something to keep thier minds sharp, plus they have plenty of time to play.

If old ppl want to play because they think it's fun, let them play. Even if my granddad wants to play, I'm willing to let him. Playing something is better than sitting in a corner doing nothing.

I agree with you. Maybe, they also play games so they could feel young again.

I think it is great. It keeps them involved in life. Old people often end up lonely and unloved. If games give them joy and something to think about then they should play. Win isn't everything there is to a game. Sometimes it is just the challenge and the humor. Sometimes it is just the distraction. Saying old people shouldn't play is no better than say young people shouldn't work. Work is good for the body and mind.

this is a rude comment but.... I think old people should play games because then they're focused on passing a certain level rather then meddling into there relatives lives. Would you rather having a old person complaining about a level or criticizing everything you do and the way you act?

My mom is almost 40 and she plays video games all the time! XD

I think old people should play video games and should be encouraged to do so! When I'm old I'll be playing. When I'm dead and gone I hope MY kids will be playing. Also I don't think games were made for kids. I think games were made for people who have enough time to play them. Adults are just too busy.

I see no bad thing about old people playing video games. I have a friend whos mother plays Diablo 2 LOD (computer game) and an aunt who can play DDR I find it to be kind of cool

it's the same with my uncle...that's how he bonds and spends time with his 13 year old son.
and he'll probably be playing video and computer games til the day he dies... XD

They Simply do it cause inside parent or whatever. There is a child inside. or they just like em. mmy mum plays point blank with me because it's something she can do. But she never joins in on Rpgs or anything.
and my dad hedoesn't play video games but he plays laser tag.

What's "old"? Compared to someone who's 14 then I'm old, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna have someone who's virtually half my age force some hair-brained idea like that upon me ~_~

eh he he ^_^' we're you takling bout me?
sorry

nawwww... I just meant in general. It's more of a "wait till you get there" scenario. Once you've been in and out of college, got a job, et al, you'll find that you don't lose interest in the things you liked when you were in school.

If anything, games and their consoles just keep getting better, become more advanced & tempt you even more ~ and you don't have to rely on your parents buying one for you at Christmas before you can play the games, because instead you'll be able to buy your own ;)

But as for:

Quote by wingsofsteelplus the fact that when a person gets older their memory becomes worse, so they shouldn't be allowed to play video games that are made for kids.

I remember when the Megadrive came out. That doesn't mean I'm dusty and ready for the old people's home... But then, I could only expect that kind of sel-important ignorance from someone who hasn't yet finished their education XD

I think its great :) I used to play mario with my aunt all the time when we lived near each other. It was alot of fun :) Im thiry-four and I love playing video games with my daughter, it is our special time together. Age does not matter with video games as long as your having fun!!!

It is also a great stress reliever, you can go beat up bad guys and forget that your kid, boss, etc. is getting on your last nerve today LOL :)

Oh Christ; does that make me 'old' when I look at this thread and laugh at your infantile reasoning? No offense, but there is no such thing as 'too old' to play video games. If you're ninety years old and are a rabid FF fan- then more power to you. I'm twenty nine and cut my teeth not on the 8 bit heyday of Nintendo, but of the older systems: Coleco, Atari 2600, etc. I thought that when Mario Bros. first came it was hot shit... boy how things change. >.>

Heh... now you've said that I remember loading games on the old soft-key-padded spectrum with cassette tapes & playing games like Attick Attack, Leap Frog & Chucky Egg... Man, when you grow up with that as high-tech no wonder we were blown away by the graphics in ffvii ;)

*stretches & hears bones creakin'* I'm ready for my thermos full of broth & tartan blacnkey tucked around my kness now, sonny jim! XD

I really don't see the problem. If they want to like it, I say more power to 'em.
