im also surrounded by rap and i live in texas. i hate rap because of the lyrics
they put in there(like: shoot the guy who saw your mom)and its worries me alot
and i hate the beat.
I don't like rap cos' I'm more into frantic electric guitar riffs. Simple as
that. I'm not gonna say it suck or anything like that cos' I don't listen to
enough rap to make a good judgment.
But I'll say one thing. I don't believe that rap music (or any other kinda music
for that matter) corrupts people. Heck, I listen to RAGE against THE machine
(where thay tell you to "f*** you I won't do what you tell me") but
I'm no rebel. In my opinion, a person must decide for himself whether he should
let music influence him to do some of that stuff. You shouldn't blame rap music
for influencing someone, you should blame the person for letting himself be
influenced by rap music.
i really really hate rap. im pretty much surrounded by rap becouse everyone
listens to it where i live and they are all white trying to be black (no
offence) i have no problem with black people, but i dislike the words that they
put in rap. drugs, sex, hoes and so other stuff that is 18+ (cant say it) and i
hate the corney fake music in the background.....
Crap (rap) is just talking shit with computer music in the background.....
I'm a huge rap fan. I know some people don't like it, but everyone has there
opinions. I used to listen to heavymetal all the time, I even called rap crap.
But now I listen to rap all the time, and the reason I started changing my taste
of music is cuz of where I live now and that most of the better heavymetal
groups have retired or just aren't as good anymore, I still listen to Slip Knot
and Korn, but that's about it. Another thing is at least I can understand the
stuff most rappers are saying, but alot of heavymetal I hear now is screaming.
But this is my opinion so don't take it to offense.
If YOU don't like don't listen, Theres
still a good amount of True Hip-Hop out there, Just not on your TV, specially
MTV . The real rappers these days are hidden underground. Just
don't listen to crossover peace of shits in get down wit the Tribe Called
Quest..
If you don't like rap well you need to change your station. I am all ears for
every genre...
A slice of some hip hop artists I listen to:
A Tribe Called Quest // Common Sense // Mos Def // Talib Kweli // Chali 2na //
Foreign Exchange // The Roots // Ugly Duckling // Handsome Boy Modeling School
// Little Brother
And hardly any of it represents the slandered stereotypes mentioned.
it's not really something that i would want to listen to all the time. I listen
to rap but not much. i easily get tired of it and there are times when they only
say the same thing over and over again and obviously there are a lot of cursing.
i don't know why they have to curse all the time. i
Quote by suzukithere are still people who

and what's wrong with making rap music?
im a rapper, i take pride in my work, i take pride in putting effort and heart
into my lyrics, i intend to produce rap someday. are you going to kill me
simply because of that?

Amen, some nice artists mentioned.
Talib Kweli's latest album is sweetness. Common Sense has fallen off a little
since his days of "Like Water For Chocolate" but he's still going
strong.
Everyone has their thoughts on rap, negative or positive. If you don't believe
Rap is hardly music at all, you're wrong at the start. If you believe Rap is
utterly wordless shit coming from African American authors, you're wrong at the
start. If you believe music should be played with instruments, you are wrong at
the start. If you are blahblahblahblah ignorant of other factors, you're wrong
at the start.
I listen to so many different variety of genres. That includes Yeah from Usher,
Perseus by Shimatani Hitomi, and even American Idiot by Green Day.
Music, by my definition, is something that attracts you into doing an action
with the sound that is being played. It could be a rhythm coming from knocking
two rocks on eachother, or an orchestra church playing a famous musical. As long
as you do something, say for instance bouncing with the beats, then you would
consider that song "music" because you like it, even rap-lovers would
bounce with the "music" you hate because they like it.
The point is, music is music. You hate rap, so be it. Another person will think
rap is one of the best genres that resides on Earth. Whatever you're motives
are, that if rap is violent, misunderstandable, on-going, and just general
bullshit, you are boxed into your own genre. Many rap songs do not include
offensive content, like most 80's rap. You can't go on claiming that rap is this
and that and what makes it so bad because you haven't explored the horizons of
rap.
There is nothing wrong in creating rap at all. Again, music is music as long as
it attracts people to take action of it. If you want to throw your radio out the
window because every station plays rap, then you can't take that type of music.
Plain and simple.
Pardon me if I ramble about something that doesn't pertain to this subject or
haven't fulfilled my point, I tend to lose my attention.
Personally, I can't stand the crap! It's mainly about vulgar sex and
violence...and some romance *rolls eyes* It's all starting to sound the same now
AND they are even stealing pieces of track from other songs just to make their
own! It's everywhere in every country and it's driving me nuts! Even
kids are into the stuff and they aren't even young enough to know what most of
that stuff is!
its just no good. lyrics are well and good but i want to be immersed in the
music.... i listen to Linkin Park and parts of it are very rap-like except
there's still music to go along with the voices... for example In The End is my
2nd fav song.... also like u mentioned rap is real repetitive... i was listening
to LP/Jay-Z collision course and i just dont like it

in the north in New York, I am surrounded by
rap. Of course, a lot of
the rap music today transmits the same messages over and over. It's
redundant, Are there other reasons why rap music isn't as
good as it could be? Please, don't just
say "because it's bad"
because that tends to get members nowhere without defending their side
of the argument.
I feel exactly what your saying I grew up in california and St.louis but I dont
understaind why members say it 's just bad but i do think that alot of rap
music out now conveys the same message. thats why i listen to alot of 90's rap
cuz that was the time when the genre really spoke about everything
personally rap is my least fav when it comes to music. But i do pay respects to
all sorts of music, being the music/anime/fanfiction obsessive person i am
^^

linkin park does rap sometimes and what do you mean there is still music to go
along with the voices, I think you were high or something when you was typing
that cuz in all music execpt instrumentals there are music to accompany the
voice thats why rap music hasmusic and
beats in the background to play as the person is rapping to get the
message accross cuz if there was no music in the background then it wouldnt be a
song it would be a poem.
Well... The Rap are black "music", sorry I'm racist... I think the
black "music" sucks because all the "songs" have the sames
themes... drugs, sex and violence that's all !!! In my oppinion the Rap it
doesn't music, the black "music" sucks and the themes are bulls...t
!!!
i like the beat to some of the rap songs but the lyrics are not good for society
today. younger generations will hear them and believe in what they say.
