I've too been experimenting with bamboo brushing (since the bamboo brushes
available around the net arent really nice). After a few hours staring at
chinese and japanese bamboo paintings, I think I got it right.
Get a stock picture of bamboo. A thick piece of bamboo would be best, try giant
bamboo. Desaturate it and cut out a segment of the bamboo (bamboo comes in
segments with gaps in between). Now, this will be your basic brush.
Just change the angle and built it up segment by segment. I use a downloaded
bamboo brush for the leaves. Fill the gaps with an airbrush at 50% flow if you
want. Maybe texture it up for some colours.
A little long-winded, but I got my impiration from bamboo paintings. So it looks
more like those. I would like to see how you did the brushes too lunaregina
OK I think I have everything all set. Here is a trimmed down version of my brush
set. Bamboo brushes were made from internet images and the last 2 1/2 row are
silhouettes of my house plant.... I think it is a sort of mini palm tree.
Brushes were made in Photoshop CS. File size zipped is 10.9m. Click the
thumbnail to download. I hope everything works ok.
Actually, i'm making a wall with background is a bamboo forest, I tried to draw it, but it looks really stupid .
So, anyone help me to make it ?
I actually made some bamboo brushes (among other plants) the other day. If you're interested I can upload the .abr . And yes, the brushes are huge.
