Any input on the new ipod nano?

Just saw pics of it today, looks like the ipod mini is gone from apple's store now, and replaced by this guy. I really like the thin profile on this guy; I think it will probably sell well, although I'm not sure if I will buy one yet. With so many gadgets out there nowadays, I'm a big supporter of the "thin is in" mantra :)

I apologize if there's already a thread on this... I didn't see one after looking around a little bit, so I thought I'd start a new thread about it.

I don't think I'll buy anything from apple anymore. The ipod mini...it well...sucks. I can't believe I got one >.>. Downloading any music is a pain and a lot of time to learn how to do. It takes an awful long time to re-charge :( , too. I really hope this one comes out better.

i've heard ipod mini will use flash memory instead of the standard mini hard disk.

If you are talking about nano-technology, well that is not part of ipod, it's just a modification to the ipod.
Well if you do that yourself then you might void warranty

edit: Ipod nano
Ipod Nano

No, I'm talking about the new ipod just released today... the ultra thin one with the screen, which is replacing the mini... it's .27 inches thin, which is why it's called the nano I guess...

@glassheart: Sorry to hear you've had such problems with your ipod. I've been a keen mac fan and ipod owner since the 1st gen came out, and have never had any problems with it (apart from a slight split down the side of a 3rd Gen one, but it got replaced easily enough)

@tiki223: while not the ipod nano, the new NCD's look quite good, although I have heard there might be some problems before it becomes an industry standard (over LCDs). Although it is a nice technology, and certainly looks clean and crisp, I don't know if it will catch on. (even the article you linked had some problems with the ebook) heh, and I doubt you'd be able to do it yourself either unless you were an employee of Ntera ofr a similar company and could nab a spare compatible screen! :D

@rowen: Yeah, the new nanopod as I seem to be calling it now looks pretty mad. Looks almost frail. The main thing that worries me is the fact that it has a colour screen coupled with it's apparent battery life. I fear it might not live up to it's quoted number of hours. :\
I'd like to say I'll be getting one, but really can't afford it at the mo, and also still have a 4th Gen 40Gb that I take with me Everywhere! :)

i say ipod RULES

how much is the nano anyway?

maybe ill buy it ...

199 for the 2 gb, and 249 for the 4 gb...

it comes in black so i placed an order :)

Well it is pretty expensive...but the size is great news, 0.69cm thin... Well I think I'm not gonna buy one anytime soon, maybe in the future...but for now my shuffle does the job.

Why can't they come out with a Video Ipod, with these minor adjustments
is just plain stupid. Apple is losing its edge.

Well, after having a look, I really like it. 14 hours of battery life isn't too bad, but with the 40+ hours on my Sony, I don't think I'll be changing. I do think it looks very swish though and if I was buying anything from them, this would be it.

I like the iRiver much better than the iPod, mostly because you don't have to worry about DRM and the like quite so much, and because you can use programs other than iTunes to transfer. That's what i've been saving my money for.

Aa-chan what sony mp3 player do you have?

on the other hand, sony has those really nice oled screens that just blend in with the surface.. the only thing is that sony mp3 players are twice as expensive and the controls are so small so it's hard to use in a way.

I have a question..

I just recently got an ipod mini(pink)4GB last month and well..its in perfect condition..and all wrapping and receits..etc saved up..
Is it possible that if i take the mini back to the store...that i will be able to exchange it for a nano..and perhaps if its more then the mini..pay the difference?
I did get a 3 year warranty on it .

I recommend taking a look at your receipt and seeing what the return/exchange duration is good for. Usually it's 30 days... there may be some sort of restocking fee depending where you go, but you probably should be able to.

I need some suggestions ^^'
i have much money to buy an iPod mini silver (4gb) or an iPod black nano (2GB).
So... which one do u suggest me to buy?
And then, is it real that the iPods r rly fragile? O_o

i haven't held one yet but i did order mine... I recommend the nano over the mini... mini is on its way of being phased out, and nano has every advantage over it except for cost... really, it seems like the more superior product. In that vein, I would recommend trying to get an extra $50 to get another 2 GB of memory, since you double your memory for such a small cost.

i just got my new ipod, uuu great!! sugoi~1

the I-Pod Nano is very durable I've heard compared to the other I-Pods.....especially when it uses Flash memory instead of a hard drive it's really worth it.....hard drives could break more easily than flash memory itself

well i actuall was able to do a side by side comparison of a mini and nano....the nano is so freaking tiny u could lose it. i would suggest if ur buying an ipod to think how much u will use it? more music bigger ipod, less music smaller ipod.

I think the iPod nanos look cool, but they're so thin that they probably break really easily.

ipod nanos look nice. but i think it is a waste of money. people with an ipod mini probably wont get an ipod nano because they are the same price and have the same specs. if you were rich you probably would get an ipod nano.

The nano still has the same acrylic/steel casing. After playing with one for a while, I found it takes a good amount of pressure to get it to bend even a little.

Too. Freaking. Expensive.
