Quote by joshdoekI have just watched
Advent Children (don't ask how) and I wasn't
impressed. Then some hours later I got the thinking. I began to wonder,
what is the drawing force of Final Fantasy VII. Why is it singled out
as the best out of the series? Well let me have the first go at it and
then you guys have your say. Many say it's great because of the main
villian, Sephiroth. And why not he looks cool, with that long black
jacket and his big sword and to top it all off he kills one of your
party members. Some would say that's very cool, but those people have
all started on FF VII and very few of them have gone back to play any
other classic FF games. I like Final Fantasy VI. Want to know why? I'll
tell you; it has better music, the story is more involving, there are
intersting cast of characters. And to top it off it has a much better
villian. While Sephiroth attemps to destroy the whole, Kefka accually
does it. Sephiroth kills Aerith as well as a few people along the way,
but Kefka commits geocide more then once. But I will admit that
Sephiroth looks cool. Now i would like it if everyone who answer this
to come up with some good reasons to why FF VII is so good. I want to
like this game, I really do so please confront this with an open
mind.
all i have to say is...to each his own...i'm not gonna try to convice you to
like FF7; if you don't like it, then ya don't like it; i'm ok with that; you
prefer a more old school FF, what's to hate about that? but if you don't
understand why it's so well-liked, here's the two most obvious & important
ones:
1. for some, as reading this thread, it's their very first FF they've ever
played (a few have said this already)
2. first 3D FF (also mentioned)
Quote by Luis-L6How old are you anyway
.... in your userpage it says 21 but honestly it
doesn't look so. I don't know if your a video game fanatic but it those
days there wasn't anything like a FF7.
For exemple, it that time it came out a gmae with the name "Silver",
a
fantastic game that was totaly blackedout with ff7.
ff7 was almost like the man walking on the mon for video games, if your
21 then you know what i'm saying right .... and of course it's not the
grafism and the music that makes only a game... the little jokes, the
possible date with each female caracter in Gold Saucer for example...
but at least for me ... it's the story it self becausa it's full of
what it's called "Mythology". The paralellism with the divine comedy
of
Dante. The Kabalistic tree of life. The Yggdrasil Mythology, The
masamune, the divine katana and some little things that if you compare
with the latin meaning you would be amased.
I know a page that might explain it to you ....
Besides all of this ... don't give that thing about the other FF's ...
i've played them all and still sephiroth is the best. Probably i might
be influenced by the grafism ... but that's life.
now ^ did their homework...i suggest you do yours...have a nice day =)
Only kidding. FF7 had that gripping storyline, amazing gameplay and at the time,
stunning gfx. It was a diamond in the rough - you don't see that a lot these
days
FF7 was my first 3D RPG I played and the best to date. I have never been more
impressed with the way the plots were unravelled and the game itself ended. I
became a fan and so did many of my friends who played the game (including the
girls).
ff7 Advent Children gave a sequel to the widely loved game and it delivered (a
stark contrast to the Matrix movie sequels - which only tried to buy on the
success of the first movie). The phenomenal amount of details contained within
the movie is worth mentioning too.
this is an open opinion so i'm dropping mine. ok, i dont know about FF1 until
FF4. but i played all the series starting FF5 and personally think FF7 is the
best. it cant be described why, it was just unlike others. the experience was
different and no other game can make me so involved. i love playing rpg with a
good story, like reading 500+ pages novel in an evening. not playing engaging,
long, or vast rpg, or reading 1000+ pages textbook in a semester. tiring man.
and yeah, i dont like the "we must kill xxx cause he/she wants to destroy
the world" motto, enforced in most rpg. once in FF7 i rushed into the
crater not because sephiroth wants to destroy the world, but...you know
even in the game itself cloud said want to deal with sephiroth not for the sake
of saving the world, but for something very personal. it was cool and i like his
reason to continue fighting. this kind of little depth makes an rpg great and
FF7 has strong background on this.
personally i had no urge of pursuing kefka in FF6. other than keeping the story
going i dont see a reason why i should defeat him. *ran all over the ruined FF6
world to fight t-rex*
this is my opinion, i judge by storyline. but for a game to be titled as the
best (not by me), my little thought is not enough to describe them. how can a
majority of people say it is the best if it is not good? if you played and didnt
see why, thats it...close it, play some other game.
too much fighting in advent children. only animation is impressive
(very).
well in my opnion ff7 was the first ff for most of the people and normally you
are a bit bias for your first ff. But its still one of the best, just not the
best imo.
Well ff6 was my first ff, so i may be biased aswell
Quote by thedudeabideswow i didnt
know anyone could ask wats so great about ff7 and not fear for their
life
I was just asking a question. I have played FF 7 on
the PC, and I liked it. I just can't see how anyone can say it is the best out
of all the other FF. All it had on FF6 was the graphics, but why should that
matter. What if FF6 was the first one on the PS one intstead of FF7. What if
it was General Leo the we saw get killed in a CG movie before Aerith was gutted.
Then I ask you if that was the situation where would your loyalty
lie.
Quote by UltimaninjaYes but the best
villian was sepiroth...
And the two secret bosses , the emerald and ruby weapons, were VERY HARD to
beat...
(I still haven't beat them)
Final Fantasy VII was one of the best because of the story and presentation. The
characters were like real people they had their own problems and dilemmas
outside of their main goal. You learned everyone's past and history and tried to
resolve it. Not to mention in the end the fight out of your hands and up to the
planet whether or not mankind was wiped out.

the dreamcast off the market if you remember!
Dreamcast the gaming system? Sorry but final fantasy 7 came out almost 2 1/2
years before the dreamcast even debuted. The reason dreamcast didnt make it in
the market is because SEGA wasted obscene amounts of money on
advertising.
You must have mixed up the SEGA Saturn amd the SEGA Dreamcast.
I liked FFVI more but that's just me I guess. It's one of the most extensive 16-bit RPG's there are. I don't care about graphics as much as gameplay.
It was the first game that I ever knew on the playstation that spanned over 3-discs...
And could steal your very childhood in its grasp

it was the first game i bought which had more than one disk
oh well, it depends on the person who likes it or not. if you don't want it then it's your decision.
Very good point. K-Jin. It was in fact the 17th best selling game in the world a while ago.
The 'biggest' thing in FF7? Hmm...

Beat FFV and all of FF X-2 than call me.

Yeah... the PS1 was in direct competition with the then current Sega Saturn. Dreamcast only came into the scene years later.
