One of the best things about anime is seeing all the cool fashions the characters are wearing. While each series is unique, I've found there to be major categories.

Polling everyone for their favorite fashions. Please add why, or add your own new category I may have forgot.

My fav is Suits - Formalwear. I like how its based in reality, but its made to look so much more sharp, stylish, flattering and it never moves out of place. Characters with strong personalities usually dress this way, and you gotta admire those strong women.

I like "other", I mean the casual clothes. Just a T-shirt & black long pants. That's enough for me!

I like seeing girls in School Uniforms

I like school uniforms and sci-fi a lot. I don't think I've seen any renaissance fashion in anime. Perhaps I just haven't seen the right animes?

I'm obsessed with the Bleach captain's robes/coats. They're so cool!

Not really into school uniforms. I'm into street wear... lol yeah I'm a street clothing junkie... I liek to look casual but smart at teh same time so I wear a lot of long pants and stuff like that. But not many animes exactly have that kind of clothes... I know though in the FruiTs photobook it has all sorts of wonderful gadgets and clothing styles... I so want to buy them :P

In anime I spose anything casual and remotely futuristic is pretty cool.
All the mech and suits to drive them is pretty neat and creative- you don't really see that anywhere else

More suits/formal wear... well I like better female one cause most of the time, male have tuxedos (hardly different) even if I like the red Zaft uniform (more in sci-fi this one).

But I don't think a lot about the clothes, many of the series I watch don't have chara that change a lot (even if it was kind of interesting to see that Meer have just two or three different pieces of clothes in nearly the whole serie and in the flash-back about her she was wearing so many different things, I didn't know if I had to be happy or not).

I like formal medieval wear.....well....modern medieval?....sound weird but I've seen some......really!

School Uniforms are usually the most interesting.

i vote for school uniforms. but all anime has there own anime fashion style. i like the way quincys(Ishida) dress in the anime Bleach. I also like the shigami outfit with the captian coat. I also like Ichigos mantle he wore ep54-55. and i like straw hats. i want a straw hat. WHY DON'T I HAVE A STRAW HAT!

futuristic with a renaissance appeal to it. like trinity blood or final fantasy or oh my goddess.

i love sci fi tights and sci fi anime.
the suits are always too cool, one of the best is perhaps Eva's suit for the driving of Evas, the black one is especially cool, too bad he has to die.
followed by this is the suits from Divergence Eve, so sexy so tight and so very wonderful.
and then of course for males, the ultimate sci fi suit is the gundam drivers uniform, very subtle, very cool

We're exactly the same there, but probably for different genders.

I love looking at street fashion, but I also love school uniforms. I want to wear one! Those cute little skirts...

i like the urban street wear, like the one ichigo, chad, an rukia wear in the title pages of the manga. i wish i had some cool googles and headphones like those. and the different hairstyles look cool too...

I love the completely over the top gothic clothes in some animes (trinity blood, angel sanctuary) there just so damn cool! (I wish I had a cloak that always stayed up like that:(
