Boohoo, this is 2nd wallpaper that has been rejected ever since I joined MT.
Well, I followed the rules and if it gets rejected then I should post it here
for improvement. Anyways, I got notifaction saying it was quaratined which
probably means it was rejected and as always I don't have a clue why. I wasn't
sure what I could of done more to make it look better so I'm posting it here.
This wallpaper features a photo I took around my neighborhood which I applied my
own filters and painted over some areas to give it the current look it has.
Underneath the photo is a Sephia colored version of the photograph. It looked
kind of plain so I decied to duplicate the wallpaper and make a photo out of it
over the orginal.
Hi Wandering Youth,
I am not the one who deleted this wall, but in my opinion it might have been one
of the following reasons for the deletion:
- the background is photo, we usually require members to manipulate the stocks
they use with more then just one filter and generally prefer backgrounds created
by the users themselves (and this wall looks like it was a combination of few
easy photoshop techniques if that is the proper word >.>)
- there are some flaws in the extraction (see bottom part of the blue girl's
hair) but it is nothing serious
- the trees shadows on the characters are really interesting ^^
- i also like the overall concept for the work
Just try working more on the bg itself, effort pays off , hope
that helps a bit :]
What jasmine said. If you work some more on it, I'd have no problems at all with
that wall. And the shadow idea is really nice.
To specify better, while really nice our policy forbids for whole stock
backgrounds unless worked upon extensively. This is to prevent members from
applying simple filters to photos and using as background. While your wall has a
quite nice concept and (apart from that minor extraction problem )is really nice
(I like those shadows), we have to draw a line. So my suggestion is to wrok more
on the background.
Heh, I understand the new policy since I did read it. It's still kind of a slap
to the face when I see a rejection notice in my Inbox but thanks for the very
helpful and specific comments. I guess I'll try some other things to the
background
Here's a tip. Make your own scenery by vector tracing the background. That would
blend in better with teh characters. Filtered stock tend to stick out too much
regardless of what filters you put in.
Well I love it! =) in fact it is my current desktop I'm using! great job, I dont
mind that the background was a real photo or not, I like the filter you used to
make it look like that. I can see however what everyone is talking about, vector
it or use some other filter to make it blend in more with the characters, but
regardless, great job, I especially love the shadow's used on the characters.
Keep it up! =)
Pretty nice concept. The extraction on the charas is a little fuzzy in some
places, though it's only noticable in places where the bg is dark. Speaking of
the bg, it has potential, but the combination of filters used isn't quite right.
The impressionist look contrasts too much with the style of the characters, and
the regular "dabs" make it look out of focus, like the camera was
moving.

I think that this is nice but the characters either constrast out a big too much--- or the background is a bit weird.
The girl on the left with the purple hair has some white bits on the ends--- so I think you should burn that with the colour burn tool.
And I agree... it does look a bit low effort because it looks liek a stock photo with a filter on it... but it does look pretty good
To tell the truth, photo snaps like that aren't all that original either~ but this isn't a bad wallpaper at all
Mad props
posting this up
