it's too red, too intense...and why only one color? *_*
the image is too blurry, probably due to the quality of the scan and the texture
u've added. So i think the texture is not necessary here.
Try to put more effort in composition for the bg...=_= i know u're going for
abstract here..but it looks too plain...:P
nice try for 1st attempt tho keep it
up!~
firstly, to submit a wallpaper you go to the category of your choice. Then on
the left menu it should have a submitting option. A bit like how you made this
thread- go into the right forum and there is a create thread option, ne?
^.^
I'll try to make some suggestions and point out basically what I see and some
tips okay ^^ I usually say things honestly, but I don't mean to be mean if I
point out stuff :P
* Try not to use filters over characters. A major criteria for wallie submission
is a high quality scan. If the scan is high quality, why wreck it- because it
just looks like it's a bad scan. I did that once... I pixelated a scan on
purpose-- NOT smart ^^;;; Filters usually lower the quality of anything quite a
bit... I'd stay away from them ^^ esp on a scan
* Your extraction looks pretty good but I think I can still see some fluffy
bits. Did you use a magic wand? Can't really tell... the job isn't bad, but if
it wasn't red, it would be very obvious. It's best to extract well- that way you
won't need to cover it up later on I suggest
getting a pentool tutorial :P That is the best tool and the cleanest tool you
can use. On that note, I think that extraction should be the easiest part of
making a wall~ so it's one of the basics you gotta learn well ^.^
* Don't put words downwards because it's uncomfortable. Not only that, every
letter has a different height and width so it won't be aligned properly. Even if
you did each letter one by one, it's kinda hard to read ^^; Usually most text is
written normall across the page, and then rotated CCW90 or CCW90 degrees. But I
still don't suggest that at this stage The text
size is okay for the position it is now, but if you turn it back the other way
ie. reading it from left to right, you might want to make the font a bit
smaller- no larger than size 60 really.
Downloading a few sets of fonts would be good too
* The filter background is not enough. You'll need more ideas on that. I can
also see 3 butterfly brrushes. Oh my... they are faces of the Loveless crew in
butterfly shapes! well that is quite creative, but what do butterflies have to
do with the scan you're featuring ?
Because I don't know what you want in the bg and abstract isn't exactly helping
much, I suggest you download lots of brushes:
That site has lots of fonts, brushes and tells you how to install and organise
them on your computer. I think with the brushes you'll end up with a much more
interesting effect :P There are little samples so I'm sure you'll find some of
the end results interesting ^.^
If you want, you can make an abstract wall WITH brushes.. aha double the effect
More
interesting XP
This isn't really a good wallpaper because:
* Extraction is okay but not that great
* Low effort because there is no background design
Overall there just needs to be a lot more done on this~ but I think that you
know what you're doing and you're on track
Kudos~
Hmmmm, if you wanna do a monochrome wallpaper (with one color only), I suggest
you vary the background even more, and also try using various brushes and
filters to achieve the abstract/grunge effect so that it
looks interesting to the viewers...
Secondly, I do not think that the secondary scans [butterflies] there is
necessary, it just kinda make a 'huh?' point to me as to why it ended up
there... because of it, you lost the focus point of the wall (which I assume was
at the main scan there ) so if you
still want the butterfly pattern, I suggest you get rid of the faces you put on
it
Hmmm, about the scan, I think you did quite an okay extraction, and because it
is red in color, I cannot really tell for sure, but the problem is not the
extraction (other than the way it seems that the ribbon that he is holding ended
up abruptly).. I do not think you should try filtering your scan, not when you
are going to do a monochrome wallpaper... if you filter the scan too, you would
make everything looks very messy..and this scan doesnt seem to be very clean
either, you may wanna try fixing that
Oh, and also, I do not think you should do the 'drop shadow' on the scan, it
makes it looks distant and not blended in to the wall, and I think it's bad...
other than all those, am suggesting that you rethink carefully on the background
concept
The butterflies in the bg are interesting, but the vertical lines are not
engaging enough. I think the direction this wall is going, an abstract/grunge bg
would work. deviantART has a lot of abstract, grunge, and other brushes if
you're interested >> deviantART
The vertical text on the side is usually not a good idea, since it looks like
your just throwing in the text and not really integrating it into the wall.
Also, the filtered hatching in the text is too regular, and it does more to blur
out the text than to give it texture.

In Loveless there is a COMPLETE over emphasis on butterflies, other than them
being shown and wore everywhere, at one point Soubi...the taller one...even asks
Ritsuka..shorter one...if butterflies really remind Ritsuka of him. So I wanted
to have butterflies in the wallpaper but not as a border as everyone else seems
to be doing. Also I didn't use the butterfly brush because I honestly didn't
know how to work it or else I would have lol. I drew the butterfly shape. Woot.
Oh and there are 6 butterflies total in the bg all and all have a different
scene or character in them and the goal was to make them very discrete but I
didn't know just how much to fade them because didn't monitor settings show
different color levels, but the fact that you clearly saw three needs to be
worked on =)
Um...for the extraction, did you use the magic wand? It really looks like
it.
And you shouldn't have used a filter to start off with. and if the scan is
actually sharp and like...bad quality, maybe duplicate the layer and blur the
second layer and change the opacity and fill for the first one to bout 70-80%?
To make it softer?
I guess....that'z all I can say.
Oh yeah! try and use more brushes, like..even download some and yeah. I can see
that you either know how to turn down the opacity of the brush or you already
know bout the layer's opacity/fill...anywayz, it'z pretty good for a starter ^^
*laughz* you should see mine first one =P It'z quite surprising it's one of my
best wallpapers atm...scary huh? =P
Alright this is my first ever attempt at not only photoshop but at a wallpaper, with that in mind be nice but not too nice, I need some good critics
Also if anyone could tell me how in the world to submit a wallpaper I'd appriciate it because I just can't figure it out.
