I'll go straight into it Apologies
in advance for any harshness or straight forwardness
* Extraction issues. There are bits of white on their shoulders etc- you didn't
clean them out properly. You will need to use an eraser (highly untrustworthy
tool though) or learn the pentool to extract. The boots on the girl in the
centre are lumpy
The hair needs to be cleaner too. THe extraction at the moment is okay but could be a lot better Kudos for
no outer glow!
* The text- the font is pretty bad. Firstly, don't repeat text more than twice
unless it's a poster like thing, and if you repeat, the copies of the text are
at different transparencies (eg. big text 100% transparency, second line is at
50% transparency etc) - secondly, never put your writing downwards because
letters have different heights and widths (that means they're not aligned very
well ).
Even if you do every letter one by one and position them, it's rather
uncomfortable to read downwards. I also suggest you google some websites to
download some fonts to install on your computer- these fonts are too generic and
boring. It looks like Times New Roman to me.
* Background- black tends to be boring. I learnt that from all sorts of
wallpaper judges And this looks like you paintbucketed a canvas default black,
extracted and slapped on two girls and typed two headings. It's not really
enough... you need to make some sort of background design- be it abstract with
lots of GOOD filters (not random render clouds and that's it... there needs to
be much more with filters), grunge (use of brushes- try downloading a few sets)
or if you like scenics more, you'll have to find yourself a tutorial for the
pentool, or get super good at manipulating stock photos (which is pretty hard I
say )
OVERALL:
The composition is a bit all over the place. I think the girls could be placed a
bit closer to each other, because at the moment I have to trail my eyes
diagonally and split my attention between the two--- it's kinda confusing on the
eyes and does not make for good composition. The background is empty
too.
I think this wouldn't be a successful wallpaper because of the following
reasons:
* poor extraction (they aren't all that clean)
* poor composition (you don't actually have a background)
* low effort (It looks like you used a total of 5 layers)
I already suggested some stuff somewhere in my post so I won't repeat over it
again Hopefully it has given you some ideas on what direction you might want to
head into- filters, brushes or vectoring (with the pentool).
Have to agree with Kuromisa on her/his critique
of your work. You might want to check out a few tutorials on extraction and
other things at www.good-tutorials.com
or maybe www.pixel2life.com
seriously, theres nothing going on in the wall. way too empty.
try to focus on one scan only rather than spread out the focus like that.
for the bg, try to stay away from the plain black or one colour bgs. try to do
something abstract, usually abstract is easier for beginner wallers. then you
can start moving on to more complex bg scenery.
well at least you posted this in the sandbox instead of uploading ^__^''
just concentrate on skills and youll get better ^^
The cammy one looks so plain..u just slapped two images of her on a black bg and
her name....nothing else
the extraction needs work. and put more thought into the background.
The 2nd one looks pretty cool. the bg effect looks interesting...but i can't
really see the image....
u should make it stands out a bit more and
download some better fonts!~

NOTE: The Sandbox guidelines state that there should be one wall per thread, so
I think Rikkabluhound's wall at least should be in a seperate thread.
As for FreakzillA's second wall, the effects are interesting, but here they
overwhelm the chara. I think it would be interesting if you kept the sparkles to
one region (for instance, just over the chara), and created an abstract, scenic
vector bg with the pen tool, with a different texture for each region of the bg.
For example, a mountain would have a splatter texture, while a plain would have
a leather texture, etc. Not sure I'm being clear.
Gimme tips which I know I need a lot of.
and how do I upload a pic
Got to ImageShack and go upload them there.

It really simple.

Kudos for being honest and I'm starting a new wall so I hope will be a "sucessful wall".

I have triedto do what you told me to and came with this and tell me how to make it better before it's final. And I know the logo on the top right I need to make it darker.
