do you think that any good can come from war or is it just a waste of life?
ccould the amount of men lost in war be smaller than the number of men saved as a result of that war?
what do you think?

sorry if there is a thread like this, but i searched and couldnt find one.

No, war isn't a good thing. It's a thing to be avoided if possible. However, it isn't always possible, and if it needs to be, then you must fight to win. Because if you lose, you will forever be at the mercy of your enemies.
So yes, it is worth the loss of life. But every care should be made by commanders to see to it that the loss of life is inflicted on the enemy.
Or, as General George Patton said, "You don't win a war by dying for your coutnry. You win a war by making the other poor dumb son of a bitch die for his country."

I think that war is some of the worst invents of humand kind, the disputes and the problemas need solutions better than go fighting and killing eachother with "a so called reason"

People die because of stupid things sometimes. (Remembers the second A.bomb dropped in Japan). War sucks but sometimes is inevitable.

War is a terrible thing. It would be nice to live in a world without war. But as human beings we should know that this is not possible. It doesn't matter if you want to live in peace there will always be others that think they know better than you, and others that want the power and others still that are against everything you hold dear.

We have to create the future ourselves or others will do it for us. And they are not always open to reason. While you're reasoning with them, they are plotting your undoing. Remember not every one is on the same page as you are.

War brings no good at all. Life is precious. Imposing a "greater good" with violence is simply not acceptable.

I think war is only used by cowards who can't sit down and talk about issues, or they just don't care how many lives are lost as long as their side wins. This sounds all to familiar to Gundam fans, but I am sorry but there is some truth in the matter. We seem to rush into war these days without asking if it's the right thing to do. Take the Iraq war, we did not have enough evidence that there was WMD's in Iraq but we went anyway (I am talking about US and UK armed forces). I think our leaders need to understand the feelings of other countries and respect their beliefs as these all contribute towards war.

I feel that war is a problem, and should be avoided at all costs, but there are some times when it is simply unavoidable.

There will always be people who refuse to use diplomacy or refuse to give any ground on something, and there are times when these people are in positions of power for which they must be removed, and it must be done as quickly as possible.

When all else fails, the use of force is all which is left. There are times when people simply need to do what needs to be done, and if that involves going to war, then c'est la vie, war must be made.
It would be far easier, however, were all involved parties to contain the war to the military personnel, but when one or more sides couldn't care less about non-military personnel, that is when things get out of hand.

War is only inivitable only when The two nations at disbute are run by morons who would'nt know democracy or peace if it hit them in the ass and slashed there throat open. Or if one of the leaders is george bush. JR and the other is saddam hussien

at times i think george bush. JR was purely elected to finish off the job his father failed todo

Well, war is of course horrible, but i'm going to focus more on the first part of that question and say that yes, good things CAN come from war. Techonolical advances fly by faster than an infidel, and the country feels like more of a whole. So, how do we get to good stuff without the dying? More cold wars, with vague threats that nobody can actually follow up on because of the MAD factor! (mutually assured destruction.)

War is unfortunately needed in our world today, although mutually assured destruction could be done away with, as could the tremendous firepower. War in itself is a good way to determine a winner(who's left standing) but all of the killing is un-needed and un-called-for. The best war was the aroostook war, in Northern Maine, it was simply a large scale bar fight, tht's how war should be, but it still should be.

thats the problem you cant take the evil out of ppl.
that is why we are neither childeren of god but that also mean we arent childeren of satan.
^anyway ive heard this somewhere

war is wrong. someone will always die.
worth the loss of life? no those that die did not wanted this war. this is the blame of the ppl that sends the commands

Mother nature never gave homo sapiens natural predator so war is something of a population control I suppose. Yet, who wants to die? No one unless you're sick mentally.

War is bad because it usually takes up several human lives because of some dispute though it's pretty much inevitable since human beings are bound to have disputes over something.

Well, war happens coz of human's weakness of not able to solving problems by discussions. Do you think it worth the loss of life?! I guess not....

To think, that War and the olympic games originated out of the same human need...

The need for competition. The one lead to entertainment of the spectators and the other to ultimate power over the defeated.

>Two will go in. One will come out<

depends on what is being fought for.

well i think it's both. people fight for their beliefs and protecting their country. but like everyone else said, lives would be taken, which is bad.

War is not good, i will agree with that, BUT YOU NEED IT. With out war, there would be more demand on the worlds resources. That is because it is a population control. Talking the problem out with torrerist is the stupidest, most idoitic thing i have ever heard. Torrerest live to kill and they also hate americans, so how would that work. I haven't read all of the post, and i never will.

I find wars primitive and most of the times are the real cause of the war is selfish and lame...

But sometimes, just sometimes, war is inevitable... When that's the case, it would be nice if the people "in charge" of the war would keep the "respectable" meaning of the war in mind and not take advanteje of the situation... I wonder if that has ever happened? lol Nahh I bet there hasn't been even ONE single war where the "people in charge" did not take advantaje of the war sistuation... pretty sad...

War is just human nature, its happened in the past countless times, its happening now, and it will happen far in to the future.
Peace doesnt exist, its just a word.

war is stupid and its pointless, but there's a lot of stupid people out there who don't see that and think the only way to resolve differences with other countries is by bombing them. it makes me sick...
