Quote: Good point! It's loaded with salt, meaning it isn't that healthy if you are trying to keep a low sodium count.

it sure is healthy for me. . . that salt is something my body actually needs; and it needs ALOT

ive had lots of chinese and japanese food in my 17 years, and im fairly healthy, other than the usual genetic illnesses and such

japanese is way more healthy than a lot of cuisines out there. especially western (read:60+% obesity in the states)
but honestly i dont care. so long as it tastes good

Actually the concern over sodium, like many other concerns, is blown way out of proportion. The need to worry about it is really not as huge as they make it out to be.

Mistress, I know just what you mean about all the fried foods. It's amazing all the nastiness they pull out during festivals and such, but that's part of the fun, I guess! ^_^;;;

The way I see it, empty carbs from rice or whatever, healthier food or not, they (the Japanese) can/will make up for it with infamous VITAMIN drinks! Which were actually even more wildly popular in Korea.

You see very few fat Asians...

That is true for the moment but also is getting to be less and less true. Importation of western fastfood is causing problem of overweight in Japan and other countries.

Ouch, thanks for the article, mughi! Adopting Western eating habits.... You know, the McDonalds in Japan are actually edible at least! In the states I"ll never eat it, it always makes my stomach hurt, but in Japan everything a WHOLE lot less greasy to where it makes you wonder.

But even Denny's still serves the traditional Japanese breakfast... O_o

Guess the bottom line is just what the article says (coincidentally, last on the page): "...the global battle of the bulge is one that people are going to have to fight for themselves."

ok,japanese food that they serve here is not as healthy as the kind they serve in asia, but it's still healthy.

well going with traditional japanese food (none of the westernized fare) i think it is all about portion size and moderation. yes, they have a lot of fried things, but it's not like they eat that all the time. they also have more vegetables and not as much meat in their meals (sukiyaki, other noodle dishes, etc.). it's a balance, which is why i suppose it is seen as 'healthier'.

the snacks! they're unhealthy. but so good!

I dunno if it is healthy to eat it all the time but I sure do love it.Yum yum lol.Green tea though is very good for you.it's kinda keeps the illnesses at bay.I'm used to getting sick but when I got started on green tea I almost never get sick lol.

Yes it is healthier. You are eating alot less. Also, rice is good for you. So is fish.

It's because they're Japanese

It's because they are Japanese? Explain. ;)

i suppose so. After all they are the race with the longest life-span.
Many of their stuff are not fried (except fried fish) they are mainly steamed, grilled etc.
And their natu (beans) are really healthy stuff~ which they eat everyday! So yeah, i would say eating japanese food would be healthy.

well they live the longest in the world^^ but they are training to^^

No need to bump such an old thread.

I'm closing this one so in the future just create a new thread about the same topic and leave these old threads inactive
