Anyone out there taking Organic chemistry (shudder...)

What part of o chem is the most difficult to grasp? OX

...
i have nightmares about it. :(

eep, organic *_* i'm in that, and will be in it next semester too. i like it better than doing a lot of equations tho. the hardest thing for me would be the mechanisms. i really don't understand how or why a reaction happens a certain way given certain reactants. and the E1, E2, SN1, SN2...kinda difficult with the curly arrows and whatnot. i don't mind the naming, thats pretty easy since there are rules. rules i can live with, haha

I've taken Organic Chemistry and didn't think it was too bad, I actually got a higher mark in that course than in the Inorganic one. Currently I'm having another Inorganic Chemistry course, though, with things more in-depth and it's pretty ok. :)

Chemistry teacher was a one of the most feared person in our lyceum - real Terminator . I still wonder, how I managed to get "Excellent"... Luck, I guess.

ummm whats organic chem...is it like biology?

organic chem is breaking my brain and killing me..but i like studying for it and kinda like it (oh..just like commiting suicide) ^_^'

Do you really think biochemistry or phiscolloid chemistry is better?
As for me I find chaos theory, subnuclear physics and group theory much more heartbreaking :)

I'm learning it right now in Chem class and it's ok so far... cept I don't really like my teacher.

Biochemistry is such a bore sometimes !
Organic Chem is easy once you get the hang of it !
Inorganic Chem is the best and most interesting of course !

Organic Chem is one of the best subjects there is around. It is nothing but memory work. But perhaps that differs from people to people. I would think the difficult portion comes when dealing with bondings of the substances organic chem.

Physics in a Junior College is far worse, look at all the math!

Organic Chemistry is more easy compared to Inorganic and Physical >.>

The hardest thing to grasp for me is getting the general ideal of how the particules of the chemicals behave. Such as ionization energy, electromageticivity, and the bonding rules. There's a whole lot more in chemistry and the things that they teach you in highschool is just the tip of an iceburg (But I don't cart). I'm starring organic chemistry this year and if it's alot of memory work like reitokai said then I think I'll do just fine in it.

well i didnt take it yet maybe next year if its all bout rules and you dont really need to think it throught its fine with me ehehe

science is the key to life and the future. It may be hard to grasp, but I think it's fasinating. Sorry you're having trouble w/ it. :/

Organic Chem is not that bad... I took it up b4... Mostly have to understand... Then It become quite ok...

I find Organic Chem not too bad. Just need to understand the theory and memorize the basic mechanism/reactions

It's way easier than Inorganic and Physical Chem in my opinion. I did pretty good in my Physical Chem courses...but I really didn't know what I actually learned from it...
