since my latest wallpaper has been put in quarantine while it seemed to be
appreciated, i re-worked it and i want you to tell me if it's good enough to be
publish in Minitokyo.
i was told by the moderator that the wall has been deleted because of a lacking
extraction and a bit plain bg.
i re-worked the extraction (not a simple task in regard to my small abilities)
and i re-thought the bg to add more depth to it.
it's not easy to notice but the bg is composed with an abstract texture and a
terragen made lanscape.
the creator of the original -and stunning- vector graphic is ReDXTrigger from
Minitokyo.
I like the background, but it looks like you still need to work on your
extraction. There's still bits of white by her hair. For example, if you look
closely at the gap of hair by her left shoulder, you'll see specks of white
floating around. Also, you seemed to chop out some of the outline in various
places, like along the edge of the sword and her hair again...
I know extraction is a hard part, but the more you do it and practice, the
better you'll get! Guaranteed ^^ hehe, I used to have the same problem with poor
extractions, but I'm getting better now Good luck
with it!
i'm afraid working with the magic wand was, indeed, a bad idea since it has
required a 1600% lens pixel hunting and there's still problems to be found
...
well, it's my first try at extracting an image... i knew from the start it won't
be easy.
Yes, as previously you still need to work on the extraction. Here is one of the
possible tutorials: http://www.imanimetions.net/tutorial/tutorial.php?view=extract
this one uses polygonal lasso tool you can also try searching for other
tutorials for the extraction that use pen tool. There are lots and lots of
tutorials for photoshop out there. just try
and find them
the fact is i started with the magic wand but i do realize now that i takes even
more time than the lasso tool because nearly every pixel need to be
checked.
i think i'll start anew with the lasso tool.
thank you for the tutorial link and the help you have provided me so far
i see you did not comment on the bg... may i assume it's adequate as it is now
?

just one word to say that i re-extracted the character and, except some
weirdness about the hair, it seems far superior as it is now.
i'm gonna publish the re-done wallpaper in my gallery.
i truly hope it will now be up to MT3's standards
