Well if you are, you'd know that in tekken 4 Namco decided to give the
characters greater movement by allowing them to move up and down as well as left
and right, many people complained about it and as a result Namco decided to edit
this feature for tekken 5 to point of it being totally useless
I personally had no problems with the system in Tekken 4, did any of you guys?
waw!?, tekken 3, tekken tag tournament, also had moving side to side ?
if thats wat your point is?
cos the game would be like a 2d game, wouldnt be able to move to the sides,
also im a HUGE fan of the series of tekken, and tekken 4 has the lowest quility
of fighting.. they made it harder to juggle and the air combos are more weak,
tekken 5 is the best and most fairest of all tekkens released so far
im a die hard fans of tekken. been playing it since tekken 2 ^^ won some local
tekken 3 tournament back then. still playing tekken 5 til now ^^ also die hard
fans of jin kazama. i really love Jin in tekken 4 because he is one of the top
tier character. but sadly namco toned him down in tekken 5. he's no longer top
tier...he's just a low tier character. but yet i still use him, beside feng and
raven.
tekken is the sh*t of all fighting gameees
EDIT: Jin has no JF laser scraper no moreee ! arghh die you NAmco! :p bring back
his JFLS ! btw i agree, juggels are hard to perform in tekken 4. luckily it
doesnt happen in tekken 5. and JFes are easy too !

No its not my point, in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament you could only
sidestep sideways you couldn't actually walk sideways, however in tekken 4 Namco
made it so each character could walk sideways as well meaning characters had
maynover ability, people complained about this so Namco edited the feature so
that in Tekken 5 your characters could walk sideways but only after your
character has preformed a sidestep in the direction you wanted your character to
walk, I just wanted know who actually disliked this addition 'cause it didn't
bother me to much
tekken 4 was the worst in the series. some launchers don't launch enemies 100%
of the time with a direct hit (eg. kazuya's ewgf) and the terrible sidestep
system. i'm glad they removed them in tekken 5
Quote by DanTheGreat i'm glad they
removed them in tekken 5
they didn't remove it they just changed it, I dunno I personally had more of a
problem with the stages in it, especially the Parking lot stage it was so
annoying how people could launch there opponent into the roof
Personally, I prefer Tekken 5 to Tekken 4, thanks to the number of playable
characters and the graphics.
But since Tekken 3, the side-games like "Kazama 3rd person adventure"
are getting worse. Tekken is a fighting game, I don't see the point to add
side-games to make it "original"
well Tekken 5 is better than tekken 4 in almost every way, but one thing that
really annoyed me about tekken 5 is the Devil Within mode, that was awful Tekken
Force mode was so much better it suck's how they took that out
I have played tekken since tekken 1. They had side stepping in tekken2 with
Kazuya(sp) kinda, he stepped forward then to the side. They took the side
stepping model from Soul Calibur for Tekken 4 people complained about it. So
they changed it back to double tapping up or down to move.
Quote by WasZanzSo they changed it back
to double tapping up or down to move.
well Namco did change it back to double tapping up or down to move, but in
Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament you could only side step you couldn't
conyinue walking in that direction after you side step but in tekken 5 you could
continue walking in that direction after you side stepped
Tekken 4 didn't take on Soul Calibur's movement system. Soul Calibur uses 8-way
run. Tekken 4 just added a side walk, not an 8-way run system.
The problem with Tekken 4's side walk system was that you could buffer it after
any move. Say for instance you hit your opponent with a 2 punch string (1,2) and
they block it. While attacking your opponent you can hold up or down so you side
walk as soon as you recover making it hard for your opponent to punish you, even
if they are at the advantage.
The biggest problem with Tekken 4's movement was that they got rid of korean
backdashing which is a way to back dash over and over without having to recover
(b~b~db, b~db, b~db etc). Because of this, Nina was the only character who could
control spacing with hayashida (qcb~u, qcb~u etc). This was very
stupid.
Tekken 5 forces you to side step before side walking so you can no longer buffer
into side walk. More importantly, they brought back korean backdashing.
Also, to crouch in Tekken 4 you hold downback instead of just down.
I play Tekken competitively (I live in Houston so I get to play against Crow,
the current Tekken 5 champion) so if you have any questions I'll be more than
happy to answer them as they boost my ego and make me feel like a man.

questions? what question could we possibly want to know? if we wanna know a move
we can look in command list, if we wanna know how a character is unlocked we can
look up GameFaqs.com and everyone has there own playing style so strategy's that
work for you may not work for others
Juggles, advanced movement, what to do on wakeup, wall juggles, setups, just
frame inputs. While you can't teach somebody their entire strategy, it never
hurts to learn a few good tricks.
all of that is either explained in the instruction manual, can be learned by
watching others play or is easy to learn with enough practice.
telling someone a few trick's would most likely leave them worse off in the long
run.
Who here is a fan of tekken?

Tekken 4 graphics were a bit lower than Tekken 5, but it's fine^^

i kinda became more of a Tekken fan after playing Tekken 5. never played Tekken 4, but i did play Tekken 3.

totally agree with you about the devil within mode. But the tekken force wasn't that good for me (it won't replace a old 2d beat em all game I mean)
Ahhh Tekken my fav game on PS2
but Tekiken 4 is slower than Tekken 5 and Tekken 5 have Devil Within mode.

i liked the 360 movement i hade tekken 5 sitting there fore like ever.my fav. one is #3.

and it was a little troublesome to crouch in T4 because of that
well that was the only mayjor problem I had with it, 'cause it made it hard for me to do my favorite move with bryan
and also, they made bryan's B+1 B,B+1! that sucked! good thing they returned it to B+1 in T5

I like Tekken I played all the gams they are great.
I think Tekken is timeless. But I've never become a champion of it.
