What do you all think of anime series turned into video games? I think its okay if they just don't mess with it's story and overall image.

Depends on the anime and how they do it. They should keep the original feel and theme of the anime and if it follows the story closly (or claims to at least) then they shouldnt alter ANYTHING (although removing certain things could be fine depending if it is of any significance)

Examples:

-DBZ gone Fighting game, well most of DBZ is screaming and fighting any way so why not? Most of the 'story line' games i've played get reallllly boring after a while (ie: Legacy of Goku 2 for GBA, follows the android/cell saga)
-One Piece for GBA - sucks, they turned it into essentially just a platform side-scroller "beat'em senseless" type game =/
-Tekkaman Blade - I've played two of these (one SNES and the other gameboy) and they both were a let down for me for one reason or another. The GB version because you aparently have to power stuff up to use even the most basic of his powers (ie: flight) and the SNES version because it was too straight foward..... *sigh* why cant there be a really good RPG or something of Tekkaman Blade?
-WinX Club: i played the GBA game on a whim once... beyond horrible from everything i know from the series since they ignore everything from the series (ie: skipped the first encounter with the witches, Bloom ends up starting with some decent attack power, and they TOTALLY changed how ***SPOILER*** the witches got Stella's ring having them get it at the swamp where the troll escapes instead of holding stella hostage later on... bleh)

Soooo if they do it good, then it'll work out great, if they screw it up and pay little/no attention to the series, it'll suck REALLY bad.

I don't remember enjoying playing one... except the first Hikaru no go GBA game... at least it helped me knowing the basics.

By the way why is this thread in the Entrance Lounge ?

yeah why is it here? to the actual question. I think all of them suck, not one was any good, exept DBZ cuz you cant really go wrong with a fighter like that.

I find it too cheap and too fast programmed....

I have not been able to play a decent game based on any anime story. The problem is that making a videogame based on an anime has or face the same issues than making a movie from a game. Keeping the story the way it is, is with no doubt the most difficult thing.

98% of games based on anime are awful, games based on anime are usaully bad, its the same with animes based on games :(

I sort of RiotYagami...

Most of the game based on anime usually have terrible gameplay..there are few exceptions though...For example: Super Robot War

i think is ok with it ! other then that depends how they turn d anime 2 a game !

I woud like to se a games of:

Agent Aika: War of panties

Mahoromatic: Robot maidens melee

Onegai teacher: Who F@Ck the dumbest guy

Girls Bravo: Sluts squad

Konomini: Where's the naked girl?

Tenjho tenge: School sluts campionship battle

there are some tittles thai i would like to see in vedogames market.

trigun would be an awesome game they could make it into a huge map and then you either playout the eps or create a new story

why, oh why can't anyone make a great anime based video game? I'd like to see a good Naruto game or Trigun game.

I think it is alright as long as they make the game good and don't screw it up.

my too I'd like to see a good naruto game where you can learn some technique and than fight because the naruto games is just a fighting game

I have yet to love a video game based on an anime. Some years ago, I had played PS1 fighting import games that were from my favorite series back then- Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2 and Rurouni Kenshin, and more recently tried out Inu Yasha. They were nothing but amusements for a short time. Fighting moves were very generic and I don't recall these games having much combo moves to try out. Then again, the games were during the PS1 generation so I didn't expect anything fantastic.

I've only ever played DBZ games and I have to say the GBA adaptations Logacy of Goku 2, Buu's Fure and Supersonic Warriors are all good.

Legacy of Goku, the first one, is awful though.

I would love for Bandai to make a decient Digimon Game. I mean who wouldn't like to play an action packed RPG version of a Digimon series that acturally is faithful to to the anime ? Who's with me ?

I think if its mostly based on the anime, then its alright. Gives a chance to expand on certain elements that could not be conveyed in the anime but better if a player "seeks it out" for themselves. And they can go nuts on backstories, which I adore!
For loosely based (ie. An expanded world of the series) something like crossovers are pretty cool too. I usually treat those kinda games as stand-alone anyways.

not interested to those anime that become games.... especially the versus games like MAR & erementar gerad......

Same opinion: As long as the game is good I don´t care!^^

Anime games usually use the fact that fans of the anime will buy the game as a crutch. Take the latest anime based fighter, Fist of the North Star. It's made by Arc Systems, who are fully capable of making a great fighting game, but the game looks totally half assed. Air dashing jump cancel juggles? Please. How about you take the time to program a real juggle system.

Anime fans are willing to buy half-assed games, so game companies will continue to produce them.

are there animes games in the european market, especially in the german market for pc or xbox?

hey what about the Super robot wars series ? they got TONS of anime stories. The new Super robot wars (Alpha 3) got a few Gundams story line in it (Gundam SEED, Z gundam, ZZ gundam) they also has EVA's in it anyone play it before ?

making games out of anime series is great.......when they are well made and not just to get money out of the series in a diferent way, there are great games made from anime, like Macross games which have always been great, most of the Gundam games except for the horrible Battle Assault 1 for PSX
