Now I want to be honest in this. I am not denying the existence of ghastly beings at all: Whether spirits, ghosts, demons, wizards/witches, or whatever else. But, there's always the thought of I, doubting of their true existence because I never saw, or encountered, in any way/form of these matters at all. Do they really exist?

They're all around. Images or stories that disturb or haunt our minds. Most especially if a person has actually saw one. But how sure are these people, that what they saw is actually a ghastly presence? Usually, people who claim to have encountered a ghost or any other unhumanly presence, are in an unstable condition. (IE. Tired, depressed, et. cetera.) But all right, there are others who saw such whom are in perfect condition. Like I said, I am not denying their existence, if in case they really do exist. Have you ever encountered one? To what extent? A sudden image, or perhaps strange noises? Regardless of all these, there is still a chance that was not really a ghastly presence.

Still, even my other family members and closest friends tell me about their own experiences before. From the story of my cousin that she saw the ghost of our grandfather when she was small, a story from one of my best friends that her mother's side of the family has psychic senses, another from my childhood best friend that she saw a white lady, and many others. I mean, really, that sounds strange for me, but they can't be ALL lying. And besides, such stories had been going around WORLDWIDE even for the past centuries. It can't be that a different person from another country heard "rumors" just like that and believed it to be true. So that means even if there wasn't contact to other countries, the world already formed the rumors about ghastly beings within their own countries.

But then, I've heard also that usually the "artistic" kind of people experience these strange encounters more. But I say this, artistic people tend to have more imagination than others. Could it only been a fragment of their mind? I am undeniably one of the "artistic" kinds, as I've often been categorized in, but never have I experienced anything unusual. I have been to haunted places, even unknowingly that it was haunted, by myself, yet in all of them I encountered none. People also talk about the "Third Eye," though. Humans all have them, but some has theirs closed. Maybe that is one of the reasons why I can't experience them. Still I wonder if they really do exist.

Well, if you saying like that i will say that was true. B'coz i was also one of tthe unlucky people that can see "It" . Maybe sometimes we are tired or depressed so we imagine something that's not real likes ghost or spirit but i was sure i saw them and this is happen again and again. At the first, i didn't notice "them" are someone or something from other dimension but when i grown up and saw it again, finally i noticed it.

I just want to say to you : Not all you cannot see was not exist. There are many of them watching you.

cool.....
i got a friend who can "see" and he is damn serious about it.... last time he saw a guy hanging from a tree outside our classroom and was so scared... and we check the history of the school and someone did died when falling from the roof and got entangled by the neck on the block where the classroom is.....

one theory explaining this is the power of our thoughts.... just like when ppl die.... they left some sort of desire or thoughts and those who are more sensitive to thoughts or "feeling" like six sense... can practically detects them..... so does this explain souls?....

I practically deny the "UNexistance" of ghastly beings..... the world hold too much ignorant ppl...!just becoz they don't have the kind of sense to detect them dont mean they don't exist....

my 20 cents

well my two cents is this, i grew up in a country where folk lore is the main thought and culture, like it or not, it has been passed down over generations and after 20 years of my life and u wanna know what i think?

It is absolutely Bull. There is no proof, no scientific evidence, records of proof has been nothing but word of mouth, recorded sounds that can be generated by the rattling of leaves recorded at close range, pranks of kids playing around and shuffling foot steps in the night cause ur lonely neighbour dcided to take a leak outside your garden.

It has been constantly unproven and until it does. I grew up from there and surrounded "ghost and demons" have not yet even met one and get a name card from them. (just incase out of sarcasm, I would like to make an interview) And It is not true, IMO, that ghastly beings in any form exists. Partly because there has been nobody who can provide concrete proof.

Of course, I don't deny entirely as there have been instances where science cannot yet explain. in fact out of the overall 30% at least (IMO) cannot be explained, spontaneous combustion, people actually floating on air (happened), devotees slicing and cutting themselves and still be able to fully heal without one mark of scar on their bodies(which is just a streangth of minds), people who collect foetuses and legendary sightings of actual big foot (which was later assumed that it is a gorilla species that is dying out last i heard).

So really, I hope I have not ranted too far.

Not at all. I understand how you feel because that is how I also am feeling with regards with my doubts. Sometimes, there are tendencies where in I think people who imagine things are being too emotional. I still hold the opinion of mine that they were just either too tired, depressed, or whatever else; And so it leads them to see something that isn't really there. But I never meant to be mean to them by thinking that way, so I tried to understand them to the best I could. Unfortunately, I can never fully relate to them because I never encountered anything in connection to what they were talking about. Not once. Still, I tried to be approachable and open up to figure out at least, or receive an answer, perhaps in the future. I suppose I'm trying to look at both sides. Or we can also say that it's up to a single person whether or not you think such things exist or not. Strong it will, weak it fade. But we never know, at least not for now.

Ooooh... nice topic. Unfortunately, our minds are too logical to comprehend beings that transcent our logic, and without understanding, we can not believe they exist. Or that's how it seems to me.

One of these things caused is blatant ignorance and blind fear at times.

Years ago, there was an incident they named a "headless kid who bounces his head on the floor like a basketball" in the old school garage (for home econ) and being one of the skeptics, I was one of the first to offer to investigate. and me and my gang decided to stay back. Guess what?

We found out, that there was a fellow who is praticing for basketball cause he was so meek, and could not actually play in real league, so he came to practice everynight at the courts. Which is directly behind the Home Econ garage (the old basketball court that is, the new one is elsewhere and this should have been abandoned). He wears a really thick brace cause he is afraid he will hurt his neck if the ball bound back at him, making from afar, his neck looks like it is connected with the body and under poor light and blind fear people thought it was a ghost.

Strangely enough, the rumor spreaded awide with added spice. like how it was a little girl bouncing the ball (it was a guy), the ball was the head (it is a ball), the guy can dissapear into thin air (outrageous bull, he shifted into the shadows), the guy can float in mid air (that is because he was jumping!) OMG, it was hilarious.

And then this i hope to add, sometimes, if you look at things a little longer u realize u oversee the lies and then the truth emerges.

Nice thread! Just want to say that maybe it's not because artistic people have more imagination that it tend to happen to them more... it's maybe because they have a more open mind to these kind of things! I'll also add : Seeing isn't believing, but Believing IS seeing...

i agree.... i always wonder if ppl have to qualify themselves in some way to be able to "see".... maybe it is "respect" or "faith" that we need to "see" .... or it is a sort of karma... or even closeness to death(since they say you have to die once to see the dead).... but who knows....

what about "even if you see it, as long as you don't believe, it doesn't existed"? i just don't want to believe because i am actually a coward who is brave if i don't know. this is actually sort of keeping me sane(as sane as i can be). i get unexplain cuts on my body and i see thing all around even in the day. i believe there is a logical explaination for this but one time i almost thought i was crazy(because i still belive ghost don't exist). My brothers are always talking about ghost and stuff they saw at night and believe i can't see them because i don't talk about it but what they don't know is that some of their "ghost" i have seen. one time though i felt something physically, (and i wasn't so observant) during that time i woke in the middle of the night and notice sounds of the street, shadows, my family outside and other proof that i wasn't dreaming. i was unable to move (i thought this could be a dream because the not moving thing i heard lots of times) i could not make a sound but i saw nothing. so i tried to move and give a little call but it was when i put more force into it, i saw something dash off of me and t was sort of like a person. my family verified my experience by telling me what they did and also hearing me a little and seeing something moving in my room. but i'm trying to pass it off as some weird subconscience fantasy. strange thing about this is i try to stay calm because if i get scared i yell a show anger for little things such as waking me up (my family heard that one night to).

I completely believe in the existence of supernatural beings, I didn't put ghastly beings because they are not all ghastly. Well a couple of reasons I believe in them is because I have seen them and have had encounters with them. On one occasion I was sitting on the couch in the living room. The side of the couch that I was sitting on faces the hallway, so all I have to do is turn my head to the left while sitting on it and can see down the hallway. Ok, ne ways, I was sitting on the couch and my little sister; was 3 or 4 at the time, was walking down the hallway to her room, and I just happened to look down the hallway while she was walking and I noticed that there were three apparitions walking with her. On her right side there was a tall man and a little boy walking with her and on her left there as a little dog walking with her. Once I saw this, I immediately knew that they were ghosts. So once she got to her room I went in there and asked her if she had a tall man, a little boy, and a little dog as friends; I didn't want to say imaginary because I didn't want to hurt her feelings. Anyways she said "Yeah, how did you know?" I told her "Because I just saw them walking with you." "Oh, ok" she replied and started to play with "them". For the record she had no human friends because she didn't start school yet. And was real shy and didn't talk to anyone other than family, so I can see why see had imaginary friends. And in my opinon all imaginary friends are ghosts, in which they think are real because to them they look just like real humans, because since they are young they are incredibly open-minded and innocent and have not been poisoned by the lies of adults saying "Ghosts do not exist" And the reason certain ghosts accompany children when they are young is because the kids are lonely, shy, have no friends, etc, and stay with them until they reach a certain age or make human friends. I didn't mind her playing with them at all because I didn't sense any evil at all from them, so I knew that she would be totally safe with them, and she was.
Ok, now for another one, I was a teenager at the time, I think I was 13 or 14 at the time and it was around 10 to 12 at night on a week day so I decided to go to bed because I had school at 8:45 in the morning. Ok so I got under the covers and laid my head on my pillow, but I wasn't sleepy so I just looked up at the ceiling, soon after something was pressing real hard against my body as if pinning me to the bed, and it was hard to move my body. And No It Was Not Sleep Paralysis, because I was not asleep and I could move, it was just hard to because of the pressure. I wasn't scared at all just annoyed cuz whatever was it was was holding me down. I couldn't see what this being was, it was invisible to me, however, I counld definately sense something on me as well as feel it on me. So I tried to sit up and it held me down, I tried harder this time, it held me down, I tried again and this time I sat up a little bit, but got shoved right back down, getting annoyed I tried again this time I sat up more and the higher I sat up the stronger the pressure became, still I continued to sit up and I was able to completly sit up, and once I sat up the pressence and weight vanished. So I went to sleep, while I was sleeping, I felt as if something was in my room with me and woke up and as soon as i did the same pressure pinned me to the bed, this time even stronger. I could tell whatever is was was mad that I beat it last time because it held me down harder, so I tried a few times to sit up but to no avail, then I forced myself to sit up and resist the pressure and I was able to sit up, though it was much harder, though once I sat up the weight and pressence was gone; for now. So I went back to sleep and again woke up because I felt a pressence and again was pinned down and forced myself to sit up. This same thing kept happening all night and early morning. About 10 to 15 times in all. The last time it happened that night, it was the most powerful than all the rest. And I failed to sit up a few times, then I got pissed off because the dang thing wouldn't let me sleep, so I got extemely angry and felt strength and power fill my entire body, I felt incredibly powerful, and while saying "raaaaaaa" I was able to completly overpower the entity and completly sit up and as I sat up I felt the entitly fly off me and then the pressence disappeared completely. And then I went to sleep and the entity didn't bother me again that night. Well those were just 2 of my experiences, if you want me to put more just let me know.

I love to hear story like this. Though I haven't any personal experiences, but I do believe it. This thread would have been better if still pictures of "ghastly images" are posted...you know, something like that Thai horror Shutter? So anyone with pictures?

Oh yes all things in life are true but the emphasis isn't on what but on where and when. We don't have any demons or ghosts or spirits here because well there's nothing to sustain them. When you see psychics tapping into the other worlds they aren't lying. When we...um you die you'll actually travel into another dimension branch and into a realm where Heaven, Hell, Nothing<--depending on what you believe in-->can be sustained and kept. This world...to put it simply is dying...the means to sustain it were lost a long time ago but fear not true death won't probably occur for the next few billion years. ;)
