Sorry to interrupt... but I think I must put forward my opinion and thoughts
about this forums-sites-ripping parade
and the anti-rip-commitee that has been
building up lately in MT.
First of all, it's always a pain in the *ss when somebody else post your
wallpaper in some other site and then claim it as theirs. It's also normal to
bash and curse them because of what they did.
But, seriously,... this internet is a jungle... a vast jungle of information and data exchange.. there might be
even hundreds of other sites other than HF, or AA, or Z's that hosts walls from
MT without the author's consent. I used to be really p*ssed off when I found out
that my wallpapers were up somewhere else... but lately I kinda realize that
ranting and cursing would be a useless attempt. Even asking MT's mods to ban
those people are just that,... no big deal. Something similar would happena
again somewhere else at the very moment ... because, 'There are two things
infinite, the Universe and human Stupidity'. Yes, I prefer to stay quiet about
it, and thinking of it as a free advert for my works and my site... BUT as long
as my signature intact in that wallpaper. If he/she were to remove it, I
would've slit their tongue and burn them to the depths of Malebolgh. Oops.. too
much there
Neways, there must be lots of ppl in MT who aren't aggreeing with me, but it's
okay, each person has their own opinions and reactions towards rippage and
copyright matters. So I think it's up to the author to state his/her mind
regarding the 'stolen' works,... that's considered as a risk for the 'ripper'. He/she who rip should've known that the
artwork belongs to another person, and it should be respected by asking for the
author's permission first before posting it somewhere else.
I agree with your point KorganoS ; i think you told lot of truth. It's being
realist. But well if you can make value your rights ; let's give it a try. Don't
let yourself being mad or sad because of the rippers. They don't diserve it.
the way the net works doesn't help to erase the ripping problem ...

It won't be such a big deal, but that the thing. They are posting our hard work
and time w/o giving us credit what so ever. They just throw it up and then

There was very few in that list of links that people gave credit or listed the
names of the people who made them wallpapers. Mine being one of them. I never
cursed them, but it is disrespectful to steal someone work when right on the
bottom in the comments it says nicely "Please do not rip my work." and
like the pm I got sent back from that one guy, "I never read the
comment." that even more disrespectful. They just go about ripping away
without reading the TOU/rules/ or comments. Now that in my view, is the most
stupid noob thing to do.

If hongfire doesn't do
anything it's maybe because impolite comments/emails have succeeded to annoy

He isn't forced to remove the rips. HF policy is different. So better act

OK, i agree with how offended you may be with others ripping your work. However,
after reading this thread, it seems to me there is a sterotype being created
that makes it seem as if Hongfire as a community is "bad". Yes I agree
something must be done to deal with the ones that are doing the ripping, however
you must realize there are all types of people over the internet who will
behave as they please. Assuming that you were to stop the ones ripping from HF,
i wouldnt be suprised if there were many other users doing the same and on other
sites which you have yet to find. Also, what i believe is that there are members
here who are dedicated to this site and thus this creates a biased attitude.
Overall, your comments seem to target HF as a community rather than target
individuals. And with the note about having hongifre do something about this
problem, you need to realize people have lives and they have other things to
worry about besides your internet disputes. For all you know, users on this site
could be doing the same but i see no one mentioning to take caution on this site
to be more wary of other users on this site. Therefore to me it seems as if this
site is being portrayed as a primary "helpless victim" when that is
not the case.
In conclusion, basically you cant really do much other than ban such users who
do so and encourage them to credit you. Unless if you know the person in real
life, seriously....what can you do other than make threats on the internet. It's
only up to the person who does it to change. You'll just to suck it up because
you basically set yourself up for this kind of problem by submitting your work
to the net. There will always be People who WILL do what it takes to get what
they like by any means necessary.
You can't curse an entire community for some as*holes that put other's work as
their owns..
And the ban thing, is getting useless and more useless. Even if you ban an
entire country or region, a proxy will save those type of "person".
Well, then you can maybe ban that proxy, but some others can also using that
proxy and they're not like the one who steals other's work.
Seriously, all we can do is to learn to live with this type of
"person". You'll find them not only here or on HF or any other site.
You'll find them across the internet.
FaitCRah is right. Deal with them ... showing your big muscle and threatening to
ban them is just a temporary solution. Ip are dynamic and an email account is
done in 3 minutes. So they will come back again and again. And they will be much
more angry.
The best is to try to make a discussion with them. A polite one where you
explain what they did wrong. Deal as civilized people and you'll maybe get
results.
I had hoped it would get better after removing the gallery and bringing it back,
but no, they've got just as many rips there as it did before.

all I've got for now. I just thought you guys should know, whether you care or

most of the people there just post whatever they find on the internet,
regardless of who made it. most of the people there don't even recognize half
the crap they're posting.
the galleries there are more like a share what you have/managed to find/whatever
board.
those who actually claim credit for the works however are a different
story.
i wouldn't lose sleep over it though, it's not like they're making any money off
of it.....cause then you'd be able to sue them for copyright infringement.
and this being the internet, someone is going to steal something in some shape
or form sooner or later.
but regardless, the quality of Hongfire as an anime site overall has dropped
drastically ever since it's torrent section went down for an extended period of
time. and the community that it used to be has pretty much died out.

such. I cannot promise anything of course, but if you guys provide me a list of

Thanks kel. I think biri's tried it ages ago and they did clear out their
gallery a while ago too.
Unfortunately the rippers don't stop so it's flooded with rips again.

quite useless
