Well here in Thai land.....
Anime & Manga still consider for kids.....so many series won't make it to
here.
I and my friend read in English...and sometime in Japanese... Y_Y
There is a situation about manga&Anime recently
Some (Idiot) TV show had label Anime&Manga as Adult Seduction to
children.....
and they said that 60% of Licence Manga contains Nude& SEX.....
(If any of that is true I would be Damn Happy ^^")
Cause Panic&Chaos to parent whose child read manga/watch Anime...(-*-)
everyone here knows what naruto is, and they don't really think about others.
plus, the anime was dubbed quite badly into the mothertongue. i really hate to
hear it.
here in our country..people love anime so much ^^ if one anime will be
programmed in one channel..it will be translated in our language which is
tagalog cause our contry is philippines. some stores also sell anime stuffs
Here in Florida(Orlando), anime has recently made a huge effect. Theres now more
then 4 channels with anime on it, not to mention theres Adult Swim that air most
of the good anime later night. When i first started middle school it was known
by little throughout the school. But when i got into the 2nd year of middle
school and the beginning of 8th grade it started to become well know. Almost
everyone had at least 1 manga with them and now we have huge anime conventions
like Megecon. The Anime Club at my high school is huge also, even people that
you think hate anime are there. Most people know what anime is and just ignore
it if they dislike it. But its not just for kids now, alot of adults are
starting to get into it. With more anime being licensed by Cartoon Network,
Adult Swim, and some of the major movie networks like Starz and HBO we are going
to see more and more. We even have stores with whole sections with anime dvd's
and manga.
In Australia, we don't have any sort of view on Anime. We are so diverse that we
are more like, "you like what you wish, we won't ridicule." That is as
long as it's not illegal.
hmmm in Slovakia think eweryone except fans that are just cartoons 4
children...and many people dont like anime or manga because they saw some hentai
and they think we are abnormal or what...<anime and manga clubs existing in
our country are only 2-3 years>

well by us its mostly the children that watch them because they think its for
kids only. but i think its sad bec i like them and i think that their fun to
wahtc no matter how old you are. i hope they will wathc them more with the time
:P
Yeah here in Poland it's pretty much like Abi-san posted. Most people don't know
anything about anime/manga and think about them as "stupid japanese
cartoons/comics for kids". There are also fans but I don't think those are
big numbers now, still growing tho which is very good. At least we have some
publishers releasing translated manga series, not bad ones too. And now DVD
releases started, so hopefully it will succed and things will change for the
better.
In Brazil, hentai is not too popular, so anime fans are not labeled as pervert
as I can see some USA fans complain... but animes are thought to be for kids
only. We have a hard time explaining for people over 25 that it's high quality
japanese culture and there are a thousand of different anime genres (specially
if they've got kids!). People 15-25 probably know what anime is because of Saint
Seiya (broadcasted in 1994) and either adore it, or doesn't mind. And young
people are raised whatching "low quality" anime nowadays.
They translate manga and sell it everywhere, but damn, too expensive!
¬¬
Before i never heard anyone talk about anime, but here [canada] now its much
more known there are a lot of people who know about anime some don't really see
it as art or as for adults but there are many movie stores which have anime
sections, book stores are giving room to manga's and we see more of it in
schools too.
Don't know what you mean by country. Well... around me most people think of
anime as porn or childish stuff. They don't care that I'm an otaku though.
Country? I think it is a lot better here (Australia) than in America. We only
get a few titles a month, but its all under one roof: The mighty Madman.
It isn't all that popular in the city I live in, I haven't seen an anime shop
anywhere as of yet.
In Portugal adults think anime is only for children... that's why i always
respond to them... ''Wow... children, must seen Hentai, then...''
It's a way for them to keep theirs mouth shut...
But here, we hardly, listen to something, that is concerned in anime or manga...
he had a show 2 moths ago, from anime, like an expo... but it was to far from
Japan's smalest expos from anime, manga, and playc...
Well it's hard to live in Portugal, if you realy like anime and manga...
Anime is generally accepted among the people i know, and the popularity in the
GTA (Greater Toronto Area) area is rising, i see more anime/manga specialty
shops opening up, more people going to cons (i think), manga in bookstores like
Chapters and more anime on the local kids station eg. YTV. Don't know about
other places in my country.
Quote by Bluehearthow does the people
of your country see anime?
for an example... in Portugal, few are the ones who heard of anime, most of the
people also think anime cartoons are for children and they don't even translate
the manga... I have got to read it in french!
When i come near a friend of mine and ask him if he sees any anime, he would
problably ask me "What's anime? Is it for eat?" and, for an example,
my parents always thought anime was for children, until my dentist, who's a
person who know anime and manga, told then that anime is the kind of cartoon for
teenagers and younger adults.
Is it anime seen by your country with good eyes, ot just a play ground for
kids?
Belgium is exactly the same...
But I don't care....
Oh, they started translating Dragon Ball in our language tough....
anime is growing...we have this magazine called STARZ which tell us more info on
anime...but there's one stupid freak who published a news in this nonsense
newspaper telling people that anime=porn...argh..that makes me so
mad...

In Sweden everybody seems to think that it's for kids. You get teased in school
of you admit that you like it
But it's getting more and more popular ^-^
in malaysia all the anime aired on television are dubbed and their voice actors
suck man hate it. they sound so weird but there is 1 thing going on in malaysia,
anime and manga is gaining popularity. bout the newspaper that wrote that anime
contains sex and porn are ignorant people that snub others
In Slovenia its just a play ground for
kids. All mangas are in english or german. If it wasnt for some german tv
programs i wouldnt eaven know anime! That's how i can understand german.

I agree, most people do think that anime is for children. But I don't know about
the teased stuff. On the other hand, I usually don't talk about anime unless the
topic suddenly comes up. Not even then do I talk about it much which may give
the impression that I don't know very much, which then surprise quite a few when
they realise at some point that I know a lot more about anime than I give away.
Don't judge a book by its cover.
Anime appears to be growing here in the US (Washington State). There is some
still considered to be for children (One Piece comes to mind), but there are
also many on later for teenagers and adults.
I think some people consideanime to be bad and whatnot because of themes that
aren't suitable for children, but then they're only looking at one type of
anime. There are mny that are suitable for all audiences I think.
Manga is on the rise here as well. Many bookstores now have entire sections
dedicated to them.
Well, i am from brazil and just a while ago, anime in here was restricted to
dragon ball and saint seiya, sailor moon, etc... now with the cable tv channels
like animax and the popularisation of anime in gerenal, most animes are on tv,
not really new ones but a lot of series.

Ja ne
In my country (france), like anywhere else it seems, people thinks animes are for children, and too violent or with sexual content...
When i was younger (1980-1990), anime were translated/censured for young children (okuto no ken for children was a strange experience).
Things are changing, at least now you can easily buy anime dvd. A lot of anime/manga/goodies shops are opening.
They are some good anime on tv (not too much) and one satelite channel is specialized in anime
But a lot of personne still think anime are for children...(and have probably never seen animes )...
