Do you think that pride is the biggest downfall to mankind? All wars are started
from Pride.. well, I can't claim that all wars are.. but a majority of them are.
Technological races are a result of pride. And I think that one day pride is
going to bring the destruction of mankind.. Seldom do we come across a
politician or leader who practices humility. Even I am a victim of pride, as are
most of you...
Do you think that Pride will be the downfall of mankind?
If not, what do you think it will be?
Is knowledge only a result of pride?
What about religion?
And the sanctity of all nations.. are is it based upon pride?
I see the downfall of man to be more from greed than from pride. Most hateful,
painful feelings originates from greed imo. Greed for power, money, you name it.
When someone goes out and try to gain it, they'll piss someone off. That someone
will then retaliate. It happens all the time.
I'm very guilty of this. I have this growing greed for power. To take China. I
know it stupid but it there. It may not ever go away.
It depends on how one defines pride. Superbia is the word assoiciated with excessive self-esteem, in
fact its considered a deadly sin by the Church. I believe it is this which many
would consider to be the downfall of man. This is not to say pride is always
negative. A health sense of self-worth and respect is considered pride.
Happiness derived from accomplishement is also something to be proud of.
Well Pride is one of the seven deadly sins but I would hardly consider it the
main downfall of mankind after all everyone is different and they differ in how
they handle situations. No one is going to say that war is the best way to
handle anything but sometimes when our leaders think there is no other way out
they call the shoulders to arms and we end up killing each other. If you think
about it, Humanity is a rather infant race who still has so much to learn when
it comes to life and how to treat people. The truth of the matter is there will
never really be a time when there would be true peace all over. Humans are just
so egotistical they think that if all of humanity were to die off then the world
would have no choice but to go down with them. PFT! Like some spoiled child that
has to break everything and if it suffers then so must everything else. There
will always be that one someone who will step forward and mess everything up,
point out the obvious downfalls of our just accomplished utopian society and
well then we'll just be back to square one.
I think (and this is just my opinion) the reason why we are so quick to jump to
our guns is because all of or most of our leaders are male and have been male.
There is no way to convince me that males aren't more violent and prone to
violence than let's say sitting down and talking it out but then that is just me
and I'm hardly a feminist.
I belive that pride itself will not be the downfall of humankind. The downfall
of humankind might be a lack of balance itself. A lack of balance within the
things that are important to us as people yields lethal blows to our prosperity
and survival.
Things such as understanding, love, greed, hatred, passion, modesty, power,
knowledge and so forth are all elements that make humankind what it is today.
These elements are within us all, and we all have diffrent levels of each within
our present capacity.
As people we can benefit from trying to build a healthy balance within
ourselves. Within our minds resides the power to grow and overcome our petty
diffrences. We can work steadily to rationaly improve each other by providing
those he who lack something with what they need the most, then teaching them to
build upon these newfound foundations.
Life is like a bumpy ride, and we are all in one huge car that has broken
hydraulics and hardly any steering; but, damn it, we really want to drift in
this worn down hoopty.... we all just need to work together, and fix this
constant.

truth of the matter is they haven't been on Earth long enough to evolve
something useful that would allow them to survive great catastrophe and they are
so full of themselves saying that if all of them were to suddenly die off then
so would the WHOLE world...yeah tch! Like the whole world is just depending on
the success or failure of the human race. Just as the WHOLE universe is waiting

Everyone has to have pride, without it, people would be miserable and
civilization would be destroyed. There is nothing wrong with pride, and most of
you seem to confuses it with egotism. Renjiro is right in saying pride isn't the
SOLE factor in causing world problems, so don't oversimply the situation
pretending Pride is the only thing in the world. Arrogant people have pride but
so do your average day to day people, in whatever is they do. Pride is guilty by
association.
Pride gets in the way of everything in life. Sure, its good to be true to your
word, but pride, just gets in the way of things, mostly relationships. A lot of
fights would start simpley from pride and denying that yes you were wrong and
keeping you away from appologizing. Pride also makes someone only think about
themselves all the time, which somtimes is a good thing, but when your in a
relationship, you have to think about both parties as well.

Religion will be the downfall of man. After all more people have been killed in the name of religion then for anything else.

Many countries need to show their power to the rest of world, so they go to war.

I think the same. A good number of wars or conflicts that we are having nowadays are caused by religion.
