I think he's referring to the donations.
The donations helped to subsidize the purchase of a faster server. In the end, all AP members benefit from it due to faster surfing speed. So I don't see how that is a bad thing.
Unless he's refering to rips on DVD covers/calendars/etc.
I like a lot the new look on animepaper and they don`t charge for walls even tough they don`t have the masive gallery of minitokyo, you can find pics of almost any anime in here.

MT scans has generally better scan quality, because of the upload limit of 5mb, there are some insanely huge and great scans (ie. those by Lord_Satorious) are here instead of AP, and cost ONLY 4 credits to download, what bargain. IMO.
I could make some super high quality walls with high quality scans and best of all, extraction is a breeze.
I've never heard of Animepaer and so, I don't understand this. This is what I got when I went to Animepaper.com. It does not look like a competitor to minitokyo at all.

when browsing anime paper you choose if scans or wallpapers. Here At minitokyo I don't know how much time I spend to find a scan

but seriously, I think the paper system there is far more well controlled than here. There are lesser ways to abuse the system and mods and admins are more active in patrolling the place. In fact, they have more active staff.

The fact that all scans (and wallpapers?) at AP have to go through moderation before they are displayed in the gallery would mean that the moderators actually examined every single upload.
Yes, wallpapers too have to go through moderation first.
I don't know whether Minitokyo's better or Animepaper's better but I got banned on Animepaper for no reason. O.O But I think both have their own good points because both are big communities with beautiful stuff. As for the moderation, I do not know, but Mt is quite lenient. I've seen many times a ripper post some ripped wallpapers about 3 to 4 times before getting banned. But Mt's staff do listen and heard us, they answer some questions pretty fast, so all in all, both have good points.
[edit] Animepaper is strict, and very strict because somehow they put up a notice saying If you are a genuine wallpaper artist or a scanner and have been blocked from AnimePaper mistakenly and have never registered before you can apply for an account using our Geniuine User Registration form. And then they need to evalutae our work before accepting O.O
I'm having that problem too.
I asked for help in their forum previously and the admin says it might be because of the dynamic IP addresses we are using here in Singapore. Someone else got banned before and we got affected.

Really can't decide >__< Both have their good. I like AP's lovely and good skin (maybe MT's makes me bored because I see it so often ^O^), and high quality scans..... yeah, it seems so difficult and strick to download and submit a scan, but their scan gallery is really great, high quality and beautiful, too ^^. MT..... nothing to say.... it's really good ^__^ Different sites have their differnt rules, so don't compare so much

I see.....but it isn't fair, because now we've to submit a good wallpaper before being able to register in ap while in mt, we can just register without having to show any stuff... This is why I think mt is better than ap in the community area, because ap is made up of only talents whereareas in mt, we have a variety of ppl. Which is better ^^ Mt is definately a place for those who want to chat and play more often ^^ And also a place for graphics

This comparison fails. It's almost the same as comparing the early days of MT with AO.net in its declining times.
Of course AP is better at the moment but it will be a matter of time until leechers flocked in and download walls at their pleasure (and might rip em later).
I just hope AP will maintain its standard by NOT approving crappy submissions. And I also would like the walls over there to be charged like the scans (with minimum papers of course).
uhm, compare, it's really hard, still, in AP im not really active, and dont like the thing there much >__<, when we upload wall, it gain 100credits, no more, no interesting, gain credit just to download High Quality scan, which is hard in MT, not becoz MT doesnt have high quality scan, but there's lots low so hard to find scan

I must say that AP right now is better.
1. Every post/comment in AP earns you papers and MT barely gives credits for posts/comments (I asked a friend to test that just to makes sure). So people who can't submit artwork still can download scans from AP while in MT the DQ is the only helping hand.
2. Wallpapers in AP are free to download (but not more than 20 walls a day) while in MT you have to pay credits to see artwork. So people in AP are free to comment after a full view when in MT they have to choose between a nice scan with their fav chara or a wallpaper from a newbie and feedback to help him.
3. AP encourages long comments on wallpapers (longer = more papers). Long comment = good feedback, spam a long comment = ban. I myself noticed that a long comment is worth more than a long post in the forum. Now MT as I said before has no encouragements there, only a discouragement because those comments still won't earn many credits.
4. Wallpapers in AP have to be unproved while in MT they will be deleted after submission.
5. After vol4 release the scans have gotten much cheaper in AP and they give more papers for a post.
6. You can actually SEE what you have earned in AP unlike here. The papers are also public, like it's a thing to hide =/
7. AP's layout is easier to browse and it's much neater. The userpage is also easy to edit.
actually papers have been reduced in earning from long posts in the new AP.
I have been a lot more participative, but I think it has lowered significantly.
As for long comments, no matter how long, unless it bears any significant constructive comments, it is still useless in many case.
If half the comment was regarding oh, I like how the girl stands out, I like the scan u used, oh I like that hand placed on her feet, oh i like how well you choose the scan etc etc etc....seriously, it IS non-constructive so long post = NOT necessarily good.
I'm more of a MT'er. My love for MT will never die.

Um I have to say since I have been to Animepaper I find it much better than Minitokyo. They have much better quality scans and wallpapers there. Many scans on here look...'junky'... Animepapers layout is also a whole lot better. I still come to MT mainly to catch up to people and look at some wallpapers. And hum yup that all I have to say.
Animepaper is better about their methods.
They let download 20 wallpapers daily, has ZOOM that let you check the quality of scans and wallpapers without counting as dowload, rewards feedback and posts, and their scans are all gorgeus...
But I feel that MT 2.5 was better, also the lack of antileech methods ruined it (remember when pages simply won't load due excessive leeching), and now we 'suffer' a very limited but browsable MT.
