2 - no staff participation nessisarily needed
3 - open to everyone, including staff if they wish it
4 - Rules... Original works only, nothing copied/traced. Aside from that content
is to artists discretion. Adult Content is allowed if so desired. But please
keep it tasteful, there will be female Judges.
5 - Timeline... depends on how long everyone would need... if a good few people
that wanted to take part wanted to make new pictures from scratch, I would be
willing to set the due date to as far as 2 months from now.
6 - prizes (2) $50us prizes and (2) $25us prizes for this first contest. yes...

7 - the reason I chose this place? I saw a large member base and alot of talent
here. so I thought this would be a good place.
Now I will be having two Categories. a Black & White Category as well as a
Coloured Category. There will be one $50 and one $25 prize for both.
The Theme will be limited to Female characters. Altho, any style and genre will
be allowed.
I will require two things. All of the Art have a Digital Version sent to me.
Although for Finalists, I will have a judging panel judging the physical copies
which I would have sent. I will pay for the postage on ALL of the finalists'
artwork, so do not worry.
There will be 5-10 finalist works picked in each category.
FIRST I am starting a sign-up period. I want to know how many people are going
to get involved and who wants to make pictures from scratch and how long it will
take them. If there are not enough people interested, I will pull the project
until a later date.
Please do reply with your desire to enter and/or your comments.

school/wherever. the more of you that enter the better chance I will be inclined
to turn this into a monthly Contest!
This sounds like a really good idea. Can you put up some more information, like
exactly why you're holding a contest with a rather high amount of cash prize
money O.o. I don't think I've seen anyone just show up like this! *glomp*
LOL, and here I thought everyone would consider my cash prize value sort of low.
It is the Maximum amount that I could personally afford. I made it as High as I
could in the hopes of attracting as many people as I could.
My hope is that if I get plenty of people interested, I may plan another contest
in the near future. quite possibly with a small entry fee of something like
$2-5. which would then be rolled over into a cash prize. so if I charged $5 per
head to 20 people... the prize would then have an added $100 value.
I know, to just come out of nowhere is rather suspect. It's my first attempt at
this. the last couple places I tried were rather small and not overly
active.
my aim is to find some artists that are worthy of having their work framed, and
quite possibly sold. That or just kept up on my wall ^_^
that, and I'm just a giving person with a few extra dollars to toss
around.
but trust me. I'm here for the duration, it's not a scam.

You do realize that you're talking to ppl from all around the world. Maybe you
should start out smaller. Be an active member, maybe creat a group on MT that
will hold these contests. Most ppl draw for passion around here so I do belive
that I do not speek for myself only when I say that although a cash prise is an
attractive perspective , most I think would be reluctante to send their works to
you.
Besides you need to clean up some details like : hand drawings vs. computer
generated ones.........? What is it between these 2 that interests you most?
Maybe both........will they be judged together or separately? Think about these
things. Make yourself more open. Post details in you userpage. This is a
comunity and we work as such. Be an active part of it ( even if it's only to
promote your contest(s) and many ppl will embrace your ideea.

I kinda thought this one explained that it's all up to the artist.

places and found the lack of member base meant there were too few people
interested in the idea...

I figured that "Copies" implied that the ORIGINAL did not have to be
sent.

Ok, I forgot that I posted some other things in another thread, so I can
understand why people got so confused. I apologize.
Okay, things seem to be getting a little harsh here.
It's just that contests that artists on the internet are usually more
specifically based, like they're based on a certain type of fanart or medium.
You realize that you could be getting images from all over the world, but you
might be disappointed at the entries because they might not fit the idea you
wanted.
And you have yet to answer the question: why? Why invest your personal money to
find good artists? Are you an art collector or a type of agent? Surely on other
sites such as deviantart or sheezyart have many good artists that could solve
whatever it is your looking for. You might be interested in opening it to a
community like one of those sites where there are far more people that would be
interested. You could start a group or club that completely surrounds holding
contests that give money as cash.

well I didn't... but that's not the point :P I got here before I went to
Deviantart.
I realize I'm hitting it globally... that's what I want. I want people from
EVERYWHERE doing this.
But I'm not just doing it because I want the artwork for myself. I've always
been one of those people that lent their last $5 to a friend half knowing it was
lost money the moment it left my hands. I like to spend my money on good things.
if I wasn't giving it to someone for an art prize, I would be spending it on
something like... Anime DVDs... Manga... stuff on eBay... and as far as I'm
concerned... good decent artwork is a better investment of my money than some
crap offa eBay...
so far... everywhere I've gone has shown a huge lack of interest... I think with
all the scammers and cons out there... it's hard for anyone to trust anyone
anymore... it's a sad thing really... that we all have to be so paranoid of
everyone around us...

Hmm, I doubt I'll do it now. I just entered two contests that tried scamming me
so now I'm kinda cautious about entering contests and stuff..
EDIT: Btw, I found these "contests" through sponsored links by google
right here on Minitokyo. Maybe you guys should be aware of what you're helping
to advertise, as I'm sure there are many young naive people here these scammers
are waiting for. And not to mention the people who don't speak english who might
get scammed.
