First things first. The credit system has gone live in the forums, so you should all be seeing earnings (or deductions) in your credit balance from your forum posts.

Quote by AnjhurinOkay i've just got a little question : how will the system combine one post (like the one i'm doing right now), and an update i might later add thanks to the merge function ?
Say that my first post is under the 50 characters limit, then i should lose some credits. But then i want to add something (a meaningfull sentence of course :) ), and it exceeds that limits, therefore earning me (maybe) credits.
Will the 2 posts be considered separately, therefore making me loose credits both times, or together, earning me credits? Or even maybe the loosing of credits from the first post will be nullified by the winning of credits after the merge !

It's not really a vital question though !

Well according to the formula being used to tab credits I would assume that you'd be rewarded with credits for the additional text you would be addining. Since the system would have to update the post it would have to register that either you deleted part of your post or added to it and then institute a credit change accordingly. I'm not positive on that that's just what I think will happen.

Currently, editing an existing post will not affect the amount of credits earned by that post, though this may change in the future.

I just have a question how long does it usually take to see if you recieved any credit for your posts?

How will the new credit system affect submissions? Does it still cost credits to submit a scan? Do you still get credits for gallery comments to your scan?

raideraian, the rate at which credits transfer from your earned credit queue to your credit balance is unchanged.

The changes to the credit system only affect how many credits you receive when you make a post. Everything else remains unchanged.

wow... i come back after a long while to see my work again and i find this credit system in place. while I see the reasonning behind, I find it quite troubling after this absence but I'll submit to it with the time I have. :)

Too bad I don't have my PC, I would have like to work again on PS and make some more art :(.... maybe later.. good to be back!

so whats going on with the free quota now. i havent been here for a while and i notice that the quota is the same as when i left.
is this because it no longer exsits with the credits gonna be the way they are.
anyway it sounds good to me. great idea-great site. the best wallpapers are definitly at minitokyo ^_^

Haha this is kinda good to hear... definitely some long overdue changes that will hopefully make the system run smoother and better...

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for this, but I'm really curious about the reason for hiding people's credits. Judging from my behavior the last couple of days I think it's had a reverse effect from whatever it's meant to be... I've been going on massive scans downloads and because I can't see my credits (and last I remembered I had loads) I felt no qualms about downloading every scan that looks like it may be good instead of only downloading scans that I'd really want, because I couldn't see how many credits were being taken away.

Actually, fireflywishes, that's exactly what hiding the credit value was intended to do. When the credit value was hidden, people tended to hoard their credits rather than spending them, making their free daily download quota effectively a daily download quota. Credits, however, were intended as a means of exchange, and therefore by removing the visibility of credits above a certain value, the incentive to jealously guard credits was significantly reduced.

It is true that overspending can be a problem, but that the visibility threshold is set at 128 credits reduces this problem; the fact that most gallery items have a download cost of less than one credit means that if you dip below the visibility threshold, you have a fairly substantial download buffer that should tide you over until you can earn enough credits through contribution such that you can go back to your carefree downloading without running dry.

Hope that makes sense!

I think that these new rules are quite good, and I think they'll probably make Minitokyo better.
Thank god it's all been explained!

Lol... ok, I think I'd still prefer to have the credits shown, but thanks for the clarifying explanation.

Seriously though, that's what happens when you sit at a computer with a monitor with poor contrast and work to reply to a dozen messages at once, especially of you always manually enter in quotes. Sorry about that!

Loll shinsengumi, seems like you work a lot... so much that you also forgot to change her name in your own post as well ^^

And thanks for clarifying the purpose of hiding the credits. Wow, you guys actually want us to spend more. Okay then, sure will do... someday x_X My question was... who came up with the number 128? Sure seems like an odd number to pick. XD (note: no need to answer that. I'm being stupid as usual ^_^')

Well, yea. That's the point of having credits. They're there for you to spend.

Quote by AyamaelMy question was... who came up with the number 128

That was sheqel. 128 = 2^7. But I have no idea why that particular power of 2.

And hey, I didn't get the name wrong in my quote! Take that shin! XP

Okay, so, let us get this started.

In some discussion with shinsengumi, I mentioned that if more members are banned as a result of the implementation, then we could conclude the changes were wrong. Shinsengumi strongly disagreed, in fact, according to him, such result would be a testimony for a successful system.

So, what do you guys think

well...if it means it filters out the spammers and leechers from the true members, then that proves it works no?
I agree with Shinsengumi, a system that governs the benefits of the majority of members (which those who are banned are normally just offenders) so yeah, I think that is right assumption.

Leechers would not post, that is the whole point of leeching. Will not have much effect on spammers also, since they can either choose not to post or spam their way through the criteria (and even earning pts for that)

In all, it is like an educational system model to me

Tanteikun, if leechers don't post, they simply won't be able to leech anymore. After all, how would they be able to download more than five gallery items a day if they didn't do something to earn credits? The same is true for spammers. Besides, they wouldn't really be spammers if they didn't post, would they? Furthermore, if they (spammers) do spam their way past 50 characters, to earn credits that's when the heavy end of the moderator hammer falls. It's that simple.

Honestly, I really, really, really, don't understand your concerns with the system at all, and I've already spent hours discussing the topic with you.

I am really disapointed with this site at times. I used to be able to come on this site with my daughter and have fun looking at the pictures with her. Shed be like, Mommy open this picture, make it bigger. Now with this new credit system and the fewer quota I cant do it. I am not an artist and I do not have time to sit and write comment upon comment to get credits. I have a very active 5 year old and coming here was our quiet time. I just really wish the old minitokyo was back or the 30 quota was still in use or find a way to look at the big picture without credit cost. You cant see alot of detail in the smaller pics.

Typeing skills have nothing to do with it you can still post. People who can't speak english well still post and have their message clearly understood so not haveing exceptional typing skills is no excuse for not participating. Added to the fact that you don't have any problems expressing your views from what I have seen from your posts

Yes that is a downside to having limited FDQ and credits however thanks to leechers running rampant through the site it was a necessary step that had to be taken. MT will not and never will be a haven for leechers. Not saying that you are one everyone has there own reasons for not participating much if any at all.
