Well I have liked anime for a long time but have recently gotten into it more
lately but i have to admit that its kinda embarrasing if my parents and some of
my friends know I liked anime I mean.... I'm 19 already and still I read
anime
and I was just wondering if anyone else is kinda the same as me?
My friends and parents think that my obsession with anime is stupid but I don't
let it get to me. If it's something I enjoy/love, no one's getting in my way.
My friends are pretty much what drove me into anime, but my folks and sisters
HATE it! My love for anime is embarrassing because of how obsessed I am with it!
It only seems to be my folks who hate it, but whenever ppl are over they're all
like 'My kid can draw this really hard cartoon stuff!' Go figure.
In the beginning I used to be embarras about it. Now a lot of people know I do
like anime and they don't seem to care, so I guess its not as embarrassing as I
thought. ^_^
for me, not really. Been reading manga from young and my whole family (except
dear old dad) read manga. We even have a library corner at home to store all the
manga. Anime-wise also the same, though my mum tends to like shoujo series more
than shonen.
I get embarassed only because people that do not know what anime is all about
attach all sorts of stereotypes to you if you like anime .
Though, there are times when I have been embarassed watching anime even when I'm
alone simply because of scenes that I am embarassed to watch.
I get embarassed sometimes but in the end I just dont give a fuck cause people
gonna have their opinions and they can knock you for having a mind of your own
and I believe anime is for all ages and you can never grow out of it now

Sometimes yes. I think I've become less embarassed because I know so many people
now that actually like it (it's just hard for them to admit it sometimes I guess
the only thing I'm really embarassed about is the typical stereotype associated
with anime lovers. Like a lot of things misunderstood, the bad and ugly versions
are the only things seen by those looking in. Even I think it disturbing
sometimes when I see some scenes in anime or I see some people who are just a
bit TOO extreme. . . creepy .
Besides that, I think I can read my manga at the bookstore or rent some anime
without feeling too embarassed by it. ^_^

sure ppl can give u sh*t based on stereotypes but who cares?
my mates rip on me about anime all the time
like when I take one of my mates into a store cuz I'm gonna grab a DVD he'll be
like "Haha... Hurry up and get your cartoon porn so we can leave!"
etc. etc.
we laugh... its all in good fun
5 mins later I'll give him sh*t about his taste in music
im not emberassed wif my love to anime... some of my friends just think its
kinda stupid and sometimes get really mad at me coz all i do is talk about
anime... and my parents think its just too childish and i waste my time on
watching it

ppl usually have one stereotype or another fixed in their mind when it comes to
anime/manga
its not like u can't change their opinion with examples
i.e. a person I knew used to think it was all childish cartoons... they changed
their opinion after I made them watch NGE
lol. practically everyone in my class watches anime. so i won really feel
embarrass in class.
but if a stranger happen to pass by and see ME watching animes, they'd be having
that disbelief look on their face. cuz ppl won expect me (of all people) to be
watching animes. (reason will only comes to those who knows what i look like)
aniway, its not like i announce to ppl that i watch animes. only to those people
close to me
don't really matter, all my friends knows i like animes, especially gundam, they
all say im stupid to like gundam but o well, we never talk about animes when we
hangout anyway, so not a big deal.
watched Glass mask(2005) and...WHOA! Then been watching glass mask(1984) and
become addicted to it....WHY? what happened to me? and i thought i was man
enough!

It's a hobby, it's entertainment. and it's way different from cartoons.
People can laugh if they think it's childish. but i laugh back since i know what
i watch have some mature themes that sets people thinking.
I usually watch anime in private (unless what I am watching is cool/serious
without any childish-sounding parts - sure to impress the unenlightened).
However, I openly admit that I am an anime lover and I am proud of
that.
