Hardware, Software & Internet

Uh yeah that's my current problem. Every time I open my Internet Explorer, it was okay at first, then I get disconnected 5 minutes later. No, I mean not disconnected litteraly but I cannot enter ANY website (even google!) It always said the same thing (you know... the same white page with CANNOT OPEN blah blah blah text in it >_< ) I have checked my internet connection but I think it's all right for the hardware... anyone can suggest anything? I will really appreciate every answer! XO

First suggestion, use a new web browser.

huh? like Opera or such? Do you think it will work? I mean... well okay, I will try it later. But anyone here have another suggestion?

ring your provider?
or maybe someone's stealing your connection! oooh spooky..

Maybe a trojan? Another thing can be that you make so much connections and the router can't handle them, so the browser gives connection errors.

This hapens to me when I and my brother have a p2p (or a pair of them) at the same time.

Might be something tat u r downloading or some site u visit "hangs" yr internet. Try avoiding the 2 above. If it still does not work maybe try reinstalling yr modern or wait a couple of days. Sometimes I cannot get a connection no matter how many tiumes i restart. If tat still does not work then i can't help u... :x

What highspeed connection do your use.
DSL or Broadband?

If you use DSL, then do you still get a dialtone from your phone
when the problem occurs?
If no, then change the filter.

Do you have an Antivirusprogram?
If no so I suggest Bitdefender. It's a really good Freware Antivirus program.
Let it check your system.

After that use Adaware (Antispam Program) and let it check your system for spams and other shity thing that enter your computer via Internet Explorer.

As the other Members above said stop using this Internetexplorer and use Firefox or Opera to surf through the internet.

You can find the software I was talking about here:

Bitdefender:

Adaware:

Firefox:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

I hope I was able to help you with my suggestions. If you have still problems so feel free to ask.

if ure using proxy, shut it down ,or the firewall (maybe) turn it off.. , just try...

I agree that it could be a too many connections problem, especially if you're running BT. If you have a lot of peers connected, you probably won't be able to open another connection to a website.

So you're saying you stay connected to the internet as far as your hardware is concerned, but can't actually access any websites after those initial five minutes?

That's not going to be a hardware problem. Hardware is either a continuous problem, or infuriatingly intermittent.

Most likely it's a software issue. -On account of that fact that everything works fine when you first turn it on. Strongly recommend a new webbrowser, Firefox being the premium choice.

I would further suggest that if you still have problems (and the option is available to you) reinstalling your operating system.

It may seem like overkill, but if you have a genuine Microsoft X P/2000/98/whatever disc... (Not one of those crumby manufacturer discs that wipe out every bit of data before reinstalling)... A genuine one that will simply overwrite your OS without touching your personal data or installed programs.

- That's an ideal way to replace any damaged files that may be contributing to your difficulties. As anyone here will tell you, it's not just the WebBrowser that's responsible for internet access.

I highly doubt it's a "too many connections" problem... or ADSL for that matter. They aren't usually fixed(for five minutes) by simply rebooting your PC :-p

At this point we can narrow your likely culprits to the following:
Virus, Trojan, Bad settings configuration, Faulty/Missing files, and Acts of God.

The good news is that all but the last will be fixed by a good antivirus scan & a reinstall. - If it should turn out to be the last one... well... Church is usually a good start.

*EDIT* Just for the record... I had a similar issue to this some... 2 years ago... After months of reinstalling every piece of hardware and software I thought could be the problem... I decided it was my ISP jerking me around and improvised a method to keep my connection longer... (although it really wasn't very good) turns out, though, it was my computer all along. I reinstalled my OS for some 110% unrelated problem and was amazed when all was fixed...

Hence my suggestion =D

All right, honestly speaking, I wasn't all that surprised when it was fixed. There are more bugs in MS than the whole of Africa.

If you use a Router, check its setting first, always a Router's problem can cause your problem

must be FX SASSER

Wow, Guys, Thanks a lot for all of your suggestions here...
Well currently I still going to the internet cafe near my home to browsing and chatting (and of course, MT-ing :nya: )
Um... I will try ALL of these advices though so don't worry! (about what? :pacman: ^_^')
