Shounen or shoujo

What do you prefer a shoujo or shounen series? For me it dosnt really matter as long as I enjoy the story and it also depends on the mood i am in. Although it is easier for me to get into a shounen series and i tend to lean towards reading/watching shounen.

I perfer shojo, myself. Most of the shonen series I've read and watched are filled with fight after fight, which isn't necessarily bad, but it does get old after awhile. Shojo, on the other hand, focuses more on character and plot developement, which, to me, is simply more interesting. My favorite shojo series right now are Fruits Basket, and Kare Kano. ^_^

Check the name, my answer is there. I tend to enjoy shoujo stuff far more, mostly because I'm quite a softy and sometimes I end up laughing like a giddy school girl watching some of it. Guys if you ever meet me and feel like punching me for that comment, just mention this post and I'll let you have it for free.

Both are good, it all depends on the anime but in general I would probably say that I lean more towards shoujo. natsume44 has mention a few of reasons why. :) But of course, it also do depend on the mood.

Both are good...but I like shonen because it has more action and excitement in it. Not that shoujo can't...sometimes I need my daily dose of shoujo as well. I guess it really does depend on how you're feeling.

i like most thes shounen ones, with more action you know, i lived with women only so i usually see more shoujo than shonen but i prefer the first one, but, as Kori said, it depends on the humor :P

sorry... the mood

I truthfully want a mixture of both, I enjoy anime fight scenes because there usually filled with things we wish we could do but I also love ones that focus on character traits and developement. Any series with a nice mix of both is for me.

I definitely lean more towards shojo than shonen. I like character development and seeing the depth of relationships. But then again, when I want to see a good battle shonen is good. Mood is a factor. But if I had to choose, shojo.

Btw, how do you spell shojo? Sometimes I see it written 'shojo', ((on the manga I buy)) but other times I see it written 'shoujo' (such as on this forum)).

I dont know what the correct spelling is ive seen both used a lot the same with shounen and shonen I tend to stick with the spelling with the u

both spellings are right i guess. only difference between the 2 is a line or something over the "o".

im more for shounen shows. harem, sports, action... ichigo :)

i dont mind shoujo every now and then. actually, i just finished suzuka awhile ago(wasnt bad, wasnt great... but wasnt bad). its a nice break from time to time. although its not something i really tend to watch.

either one works for me. i like shoujo that is cute and funny with strong character development. shounen should have an interesting plot, cool characters, and good fight scenes! but both can be repetetive. most shoujo have a guy and a girl who end up together, or more than one couple. shounen have similar fight scenes after a while. both have similar character types between series, like naruto and bleach. and shoujo with a heroine who is kinda dense and never sees that this certain guy or these certain guys like her. and it gets so predictable.

I would say shounen. I don't really like shoujo because most stories are just boring romance stories and to me, that's really boring. I like action better, that's why I think shounen is better. But some shoujo manga/anime are good, like Harukanaru Toki no Naka de. There's some action, not just romance. Actually, the story's not really about romance. Anyway, I like shounen better even though I'm a girl. oh yeah, I like ecchi too, only a little. :P

I'm more into shounen than shoujo... Shoujo usually consists of romance stories with lots of tears and drama... I don't like that kind of stuff (even though I'm a girl XP)

Usually shoujo is better for me. Shounen is often filled with so-called manliness - people grunting, huge and totally un-necessary muscles, lots more grunting... I do realise that not all shounen series' are like this, but unfortunately it seems to be the case with the few I have watched. By the time I've finished watching all this grunt and sweat and fights that last a few hundered episodes too many, I am left to wonder exactly what the plot was other than having flashy fight scenes and repetitive music.

I do agree that after awile most shounen and shoujo do start to seem the same but its finding the few that are different that make them all the more enjoyable, like Shakugen no Shana is a shounen but it also has romance besides action and Tokyo Crazy Paradise is a great shoujo manga and it is probably one of my favorite overall mangas

Ofcoz Shounen!

It depends on my mood. I mostly watch shounen stuff, but sometimes, in between I'll stick out a shoujo series.

shoujo for me. I don't really like the fighting types.

I like watching funny and/or cute shows; I don't really care if it's shounen or shoujo. Shounen shows that are all action get boring, shoujo shows that are all angsty get boring. Shounen shows don't do cute as well as shoujo, but shoujo isn't as good at fast-paced action shows.

shounen ,i don't like shoujo very much cause it has no action and always talk about love ,I love action ,adventure ,scific ....so I love shounen.Though there are some shoujo series I love such FB ,Mahoraba ,Midori no hibi...:D

I like both the same way. But still, I don't like harem shounen, or magical girl shoujo.

i much prefer shounen too. i find shoujo quite boring really but there are some exceptions like Furuba...and thats it actually.

shoujo! all guys are gorgeous, romance is everywhere and it's very easy to find a boyfriend!

i personally think that anime doesn't really have a gender. as long as its good its all cool.
