Okay FMA fans out there, or non-fans alike, I am hoping that you will be able to help settle a little arguement that my friend and I are having over the color of Edward Elric's hair - yes obviously it is a golden blonde for most of the series however, my friend seems to think that when Edward dyes his hair in Episode 45 that it is black. I however insist that it is green - a very very dark green - but green none-the-less.

That isn't a terribly great example - I'd post a better screencap up if I could take screencaps, however that shall have to do for now - just refer back to ep 45 if you can remember.

Okay I have better screencap now - look at that and tell me it's not green XP, I haven't altered it in any way except to resize it.

Mustang has black hair, Lyrra has black hair, but I'm sorry when Ed dyes his hair it is so green - and I'm not just talking about the shine.

It's blonde he just made it green in that one episode so as to hid form the military he also transmuted Al into as in put him into a bust of Major Armstrong at least that is what it looked like to me the bust that is.

I was going to say that I thought it was weird that Ed turned his hair green but then I looked at myself and demanded if I was some kind of stupid hypocrite because Anime is populated by people with green hair and purple hair...ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW!

Oh yeah no doubt there and he's sooo adorable and sexy as hell. Every time he takes off his shirt like in the episode in question and has his hair down it's hard to remember that he's under age. Well let me tell you people no one who was 15 or 16 looks like him-NOPE!

Ooo some people thought it was black - I would have liked to have heard their arguements as to why but hey - lol I see just as many people think Ed has golden blonde hair XP but no one seems to think it's purple or red... which I'm relieved about XP

I was just thinking, if Ed wants to disguise himself... then why dye it green in the first place... I mean how many green/blue/pink/pruple/red haired people have you seen in FMA... won't dying it green make him stand out? Maybe that is why he wears a hat.... Or prehaps he thought that people my like friend would think that it is black, so he'd have no worries

Yeah, I agree with AvariSky, he probably meant to dye it black to make himself blend in, but due to his blond-ness, turned to a greenish colour (like how my hair would turn mahogany if I tried to dye it blond (I have black hair)), and maybe that's what your friend was referring to: what colour dye he had used (it just didn't turn out that way due to his natural hair colour, or really crappy dye )

maybe he tried for black but got green, heard it happens when blond people go for black...something to do with not having any red...:P

No offence to your friend but he must be color blind I mean just looking at that once in real time and anybody (apparently not your friend) would see that that is green.

I just saw episode 45 again i now see why you're friend thought that it was black. When Ed first changes his hair colors it first went black and then turned purple. Watch the episode again to confirm what i just said but its still dark purple in that pic though and for the remainder of his 'color change' experience

I think it looks green....not black.

Odd; perhaps it had something to do with the lighting in the room Ed was in, some weird anomaly having to do with the color and light. For example, take a look at a naturally black-haired person in the sunlight: each strand has the tint of the rainbow! The color black has all the colors of the rainbow, is what I've heard.

its green, but its not dye - its been a while since i saw that particular episode...but im pretty sure that was a wig - he pulls it off in a fight, and it was only for that one episode.

Though I like his blond hair better. The green/black hair is kinda cool.
