yes I learn a few words while watching animes, like everyone! When there are
some words which always come back like Baka, arigatou, Domo,
itadakimasu, sachiburidana, you learn them without noticing it! It's quite funny
to learn this way!
well, actually, yeah, after a while, you get used to going to www.animelyrics.com and getting the
japanese lyrics of fullmetal alchemist and you actually learn some learn after
reading the traduction in english...jejeje lol

sorry, i made a spelling mistake...---and you actually learn some words after
reading the traduction in english...---
Yeah! I do it too... after watchin alot of anime in japanese I feel I am
progressively learning japanese! The words I hear are becoming a common language
to me.
I pick up words here and ther ocasionally depending on how awake I am when
watching an anime, I have watched some episodes in RAW and followed it quite
okey-ish I think got what the were saying most of the time!
Yeah don't know alot and can't speak it to save my life!
i Do , besides , i sometimes ask my friend some words .
But japanese is difficult to learn . untill
now , i have learnt some words such as " ohayo, itadakimas
,itekimas,iterasai,aishiteru :d,Baka....." , It's fun.
anime, manga, and Japanese music are the only sources of listening to constant
Japanese that i have Sometimes
I test myself with raw anime and see if I can distinguish some words I remember
from the subs.
Well, I`m studing it right now so trying to catch what they are saying is a
great learning metod, specially for modern expresion that you don`t learn at
school.
to the people that sed yes they do. you DO realize that the sentence structure
is diffrent from english right? example: Akui no aru hito - evil minded person.
now lets look at teh individual words
akui-malice
no-in; at; on; for; by (there might be more def. i forget)
aru-to be at, to exist
hito-prefix denoting one. (had to use the dictionary fer that one)
the point? the word in the sentence that you hear isnt always the word you see
in the subtitiles.
I feel that I pick up a few words from subbed anime from time to time.
You also get to see a few cultural diffrences and get a chance to see
how they do things on the other side of the pacific.
One thing I don't get is why some of the characters say "desu" at the
end of each sentence they say?
its ok to get likesimple phrases and stuff from anime, but like others have said
dont expect to become a fluent japanese speaker from them because they wont
teach you anything about the language!
I do,when I got anime in japanese before the english version,I read the subtitle and learn some words or little sentences.

Right now I know a few like Baka (idiot) and some others like shut up but i cant spell that lol
I dun really pick them up intentionally, more like they find their way into my head after awhile xD
They use Baka in almost every anime out there...
If u dont know what Baka is, or you have not picked it up then you dont deserve to watch anime...
yea, i ll try to learn while watching the cartoon...

Yes I do, the same goes to english which is not my native language (you can just say that after reading my lame-written posts on this forum
)
I do, I try to recongize and learn a lot of easy works then use them in my everyday life, like Doshite, nande, Chotto matte, etc.
Well, I`m studing it right now so trying to catch what they are saying is a great learning metod, specially for modern expresion that you don`t learn at school.
i try to remember the ones that appear the most often.
The Japanese I know is thanks to Animes. That's why I like Animes with subtitles.

"... desu. " is just a formal line, and can be replaced by "... da." (not formal)

Of course. I pick up phrases and stuff. I don't know exactly how to spell it and all, but I can copy-cat say it.
