Ok, you know what I'll be the first to admit, I think I have more anime than I could ever physically watch. Now why do I have that much anime...I can't help it. Again, I'll be the first to admit this as well...I do get a lot of my anime from torrents (ahh...the shame). I download my fair share of wallpapers and scans as well...why do I do this? I guess it's an obsession in my case...I think I enjoy collecting it in some cases more than I like watching it. So I wanted to know, what does anime mean to you? Is anyone else in a situation like my own, having more anime than you can process?

Let me know what you think.

Well....let just say it is an addiction and a drug, it is ultimate healer, whenever I am down, I watch anime to cheer up, whenever I am bored, anime is the cure, when I am sick, anime takes away the pain, when I am busy, anime is a destroyer, I get distracted and ended up watching anime instead of working.
Yep, I am lifeless....i spend my time with my com more than anything ever.
Having 1000+ anime songs up to 500 anime music vids from the openings and closings, including AMVs and so on, is no joke, to me it is an addiction beyond any forms of cure.
Also a sure fire way to tell you that I will always be a loner. (even my GF complains I watch too much)

For me it's just another form of entertainment. When i'm bored anime offers something to fill that emptiness.

Hmm.... Why did I watch Anime again? I ask myself frequently, but I never understood, no matter how hard I try.

To me, anime is nothing more than a compilation, or mixture of ideas and designs mashed to form your oh so delightful source of entertainment on the boob tube.

What many do not know is that anime is the perfect brainwashing device, as proven by the neumerous events which has led to the rise of the otaku, where geeky boys are no longer critiqued, B&G relationships may take a wierd turn, and technology is bent on taking over mankind.

Needless to say, I'm one myself. But do have a filter system in my mind which keeps out the potentially disturbing elements.

Pardon me if I seem to be spouting nonsense; anime does that to me rather often...

for me it's the best way to get rid of stress and to relax or the best medicine if I'm depressed. Anyway it's like part of my life, I can quit games but not anime.

Well I see devildude made comment on his collection. I'll defer back to my question again...does anyone else besides me have so much anime that they might not be able to watch it all? I know people with a larger collection, but with as much as I have and can't seem to watch it all...I can't even imagine how they could.

For me, it's a form of entertainment. I do have some time to watch them, and so have lots of them. I collect and watch them little by little, and over the years it piles up to more than 4x 100 pack cds, which is being reburned to dvds these days whenever I have the time. So, it is an entertainment to me, but with this I've also started a huge collection of animes, not to mention I have over 4000 mp3s as well as a stack cds (singles and albums).

Peace! 8)

yes, me too... thats why I love kenshin and jidaimono sooo much.. manga is such an obsession for me... I'm good at nothing else but drawing and reading manga... sounds pathetic but to me that's just fine.

a portal into other worlds....
Our's has very little to offer anyone so it's a way of getting lost in a different place...who's never pictured themselves piloting their favourite Mecha or picking up a few skills as a Shinigami or a Shinobi? With anime, the windows to other worlds are limitless

It is entertianment which makes me happy,

I always watch anime when I am bored, I mostly read comics. I only follow anime that I like, like Inuyasha and Initial D. Anime is meant for youngsters, it's targeted at kids and teens. You do not have most anime watchers watching hentai or violent stuff. Some anime have nice background painting and character animation, but its popularity still rely on hype.

If you want to criticise something or show the world some ideas and expose some not so good things(like Eminem), anime is not the medium. The medium is limited to just a few GENRES! Which is why I was so happy when Initial D and AiR came out. Not that the art of making anime is no good, just that Japanese people should try to explore the world outside Japan. I also notice certain animating techniques are no good and repetive. For example, the way Edward from FMA fight is hardly different from Tifa(FF7), also from Square Enix. Saving comments on Naruto and Bleach, I think they should try to come up with some real kungfu stuff like some professional kungfu movies(by Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Tony Jar). I would like to see an anime with this kind of fighting instead of excessive magic and teleporting!

Voted for "it's my obsession" :P

When I'm bored or feel down, anime is the thing that drives me in the good mood again. It makes me stronger, giving me my will power back to do many things in order to change myself for the better. I even think it made me a better person by the years. It help me realise more then ever that some of my views and opinions are 100% right. I don't watch that much anymore, but I still manage to check out the ones I didn't saw yet. I have a quite big amount of various anime series with music, scans, wallpapers, amvs, manga and other things to them. It's a hobby, it's kind of a passion - and I enjoy it very much.

it means a way of spending free time for me...it's not really entertainment...more like a...a...a...i can;t describe it...

i think anime is just a way to enjoy somethings that just live in ur mind...

is kinda utopia, and i enjoy that--- powers, feelings, things that u never think about comes true, and that's find, besides fine is great, becuz it maintin ur imagination flowing and some times u can find solutions to a problem...

i say anime is a great time to teach, but sometimes ur imagination get cursed and some kinda killed.

has ups and downs... nothing is perfect

i guess it's entertainment for me :). i'm very picky with anime though ^_^' . just like how i pick the ones i watch on tv/theaters, i only watch the well-written ones that have meanings since i don't bother watching shows that don't make sense (in a bad way) >.< .
