Teen Titans is good and Samurai Jack. Anime was based out of Disney cuz Disney
characters had big eyes back in the day. Thats what I've heard and read. I guess
they do have a certain right.
American cartoons should stay true to their nature. They failed miserably to
replicate Asian media. Let's not even talk about the culture differences... I am
for one Asian :P
Superman ,spiderman
X-man , batman
the 4 main character
they are some person that live around us
they give us help when we need
American style base on American culture
I haven't watched TV in a long time, but I quite like Teen Titans. (which is
half-made by Japanese people anyway...)
American Cartoons do fine their own way. (at least the old ones did. Now they
all suck)
And there's definately bad anime. I don't really watch anime or tv much. (mostly
dedicated to hours of VIDEO GAMES! Bwahaha... )
But some are good, some are bad. I mean, American anime fans draw in anime
style, why can't the animators as well?
I think it's a step toward anime being mainstream. It's taking a familiar
subject and writing style and giving it a new twist and that can only help the
anime junkies out here. And moonelf313: yah, when I saw the ads for Kimba I was
like "yup, all Disney movies really ARE based on other stuff, nothing is
ever original."
American animes are mainly aiming for kids if you ask me. Teen Titans isn't too
bad even if it is an attempt to copy japanese anime. Japanese anime goes out to
a variety of age groups and like some people have said already they've been
making anime for a long time already.
Like everything else, some is good, while most is bad. I like Teen Titans and
W.I.T.C.H. (although W.I.T.C.H. is Italian, so I don't know if it counts), but
most anime-derived American cartoons are pretty lame. Never seen Avatar, hear
it's good though.
As for anime containing long storylines while US cartoons do not, it's like that
for TV in general. Japan has dramas that will last a season, tell a specific
story, and then end. Outside of shows such as Lost or 24, American TV tends to
be much more seralized. While I do prefer the Japanese style of television, I do
hate it when it becomes bloated, like in Dragonball Z or Naruto, where fight
scenes last 30 episodes which could have been easily covered in 15 minutes.
I really dislike them. Anime is something Japanese and it's supposed to stay
that way. So I don't think American cartoon makers must go start creating series
which are cheap anime rip-offs. Let them stick to their Marvel & Capcom
style cartoons and leave the anime style series to the Japanese (the only ones
to know the art of anime) !
The problem with American "cartoons" is that they always focus on
comedy. The general American mindset is brainwashed to only accept the animated
medium being for children. I think Cartoon Network has actually accomplished
much in the last few years in breaking this trend, but they are doing so with
Japanese anime rather than pushing for America productions. The Boondocks
however is an extremely good show that is stylized very similar to Samurai
Champloo, but not in a way that would be considered a "rip-off" or
copycat. I see American animation slowly being revolutionized due to the
popularity of Japanese anime becoming more mainstream in America.
My opinion is the same as the majority here.
They are horrible.
And the whole thing of copying stuff "ARGH!", and lets not even touch
the dubbing topic.

I think the Boondocks isn't really considered American "anime". The
character designs were all done before by the creator of the Boondocks comics
and is quite a unique style.
I agree with Zepphyre about American "cartoons" always having to focus
on comedy. They create shows on the premise of cheap laughs and thrills... Also
American "anime" shows are almost always poorly animated. Character
and scene movements are jerky and everything is done in such low detail. They
obviously didn't put any effort into producing those shows.
Wow... I came across this forum as I was looking for different anime art styles.
I love art in general and have recently been teaching myself anime and other
Japanese art styles. (Canadian by the way).
Honestly, I like the Americans about as much as you guys do, but the stuff being
posted here is absolute shit. Okay, I'll give you the fact that Americans are
brainwashed ... but what the hell does that have to do with the whole 'cartoons
are for kids' thing? Oh no! A culture that views things differently then us!
They must be evil and brainwashed! Yes, we have lots of kids cartoons but many
adults enjoy cartoons as well and thanks to anime we've been able to view
cartoons more directed toward adults. And sorry, but in our culture, kids enjoy
cartoons... so we have to make cartoons that are mainly colors and action to
keep them interested. Long drawn out plots will keep a child's interest for
about 2 minutes tops. Yes, we enjoy lots of action and comedy.... as in... we
like to laugh. Laughing is good for you by the way.... you should try it. Humor
is very important to Americans and especially Canadians. If you take everything
to seriously, you die young and angry.
You know, I've always been fascinated by Japan and its people. The culture and
art is just beautiful. The fashions and entertainment is very unique and
desirable. And you know what? Japan's style is getting big over here. I didn't
realize that you guys were so selfish that you'd want to keep all that style and
beauty to yourself...
Yes, to make anime more desirable to the American culture they had to change and
simplify it in the effort to mass produce it.... so what? They're trying to
introduce it to kids because they know they'll be the first to accept it... so
what?
I know here in Canada we have the kids cartoons and anime shows during early
day, and the anime I like like Samurai Jack, Inyu Yasha, W.I.T.C.H., and the
like, later in the day and at night when the kids are asleep, because it's not
appropriate for kids.
You know what, I'll personally apologize for Canada for embracing your art and
trying to make it fit with our culture... I'm sure we didn't realize how much it
would offend you (sarcasm intended). And I apologize for thinking that Japan was
a forward thinking culturally accepting country, because obviously I was
wrong....
i watch american cartoons every now and then. I don't see why people would
compare it to anime. But yeah i enjoy watching simpsons, spiderman, x-men,
batman and other various american cartoons. Mostly for good laughs here and
there and sometimes have interesting concepts. Though there are some american
cartoons that i hate and don't watch.
Meloura, cartoons is good, anime is good,
even anime-styled american cartoons could be good (with some discussion). But
anime-styled american cartoon shows? Do you really thing it can ever be good?
I'll cry from pity if you say that american kids are stupid enough to like this
kind of things.
May be I've got a wrong idea of the term?
i hate copycats. they lack orginality.
Teen Titans is good and Samurai Jack. Anime was based out of Disney cuz Disney characters had big eyes back in the day. Thats what I've heard and read. I guess they do have a certain right.
The white lion and Lion King related? No way.
they suck baddly!

crap......that's all thats to it. The action is cheesy and just crap.

Ah they're fine just as long as they aren't live action derived from Anime then I'm happy.

American cartoon are crap, i only like simpsons hehehe, it's the only nice american cartoon show.
I don't really like them, but at least they're attempting to copy the right people.

Alot of them are in my opinion horrid, but a few got it right like Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Shit. Well, mostly.
Sorry.

Only anime-esque series I like are Megas XLR, The Batman and Justice League Unlimited.
I found both Martin Mystery and Totally Spies to be absolutely boring.
