If people were truely free as Mr. Marx so blindly puts it, what's to stop some
one from becoming a world leader and legalizing murder. No God equates to no
moral standards, it would just take a President the stroke of the pen and an
entire population of a specific unpopular group could be eliminated and the
general public would just accept it as a good thing, blindly.
And not all religions are just sheep to a goverment or social movement. They can
be just as defiant as any kind of protestor, they've been killed for it before
as well.
The problems is not religion directly but with humans in general, people turn to
goverments and other humans for the same security that religion offers. And they
all fail eventually as well. For his failure to realize this I've always

Although deeper contemplation of this got me thinking what does it mean to
really be free? In one way or another no one is completely free, we all are
slaves to something whether it be our jobs, our possesions or even our own
vanity. Even if there was no religion people would enslave themselves to
something. Thus the idea of complete and true freedom seems an illusion.
I feel sorry for those of you who do not believe in a higher being. Religion
itself, as mnemeth said, isn't bad;
it's the organizations, such as the Church, that are bad.
Religion, back in the early days of humanity, was used to give followers an
identity. It served as an explanation as to how followers came to be, how the
world was created. Now, you think that religion is stupid, but that's only
because of what science has proven. Back

have the means to prove something like we do now? Hardly. Science cannot explain
everything, and it never will.
I sincerely hope that, someday, you will encounter something horrendous, and
that when you encounter it, you are completely alone with no one to turn to. I

Ideas can be wonderful but they're all easily turned in two-sided weapons. They
can all backfire. So if you're to attack someone, do pleased allow yourself to
attack the church or those that allow a unilateral and way too convinient
interpretetion of those ideas but do not say in such a condescendant way THE
RELIGION IS BAD, it just reflects how little do you really know about the one
thing you're are criticizing.

my point of view is this. the fact of being part of a religion is ok... religion

were never ment to have it. after all we are just animals and survival should
have been our only objective like a bear in the wild it dosen't need worry about
stuff like this because its just concentrating on survival. but since we have
technology and stuff we don't need to worry about living so our little brains
just try and find a reason for everything and when we can't hey it must be god
and until we use science to solve everything we will use god as the answer to
all our unsolved mysteries.

as it's reason, meant to tie down or hold back. It's purpose was to control the
masses by telling you what is and isn't acceptable.

i am non religios but i dont think being religious is bad...i think its
great...its gives people hope and something to live for..the onlything bad about
it is the people who use their religion as means to "protect"
