As of now I'm really into the Alternative music genre. For example Lifehouse is a band that does Alternative. Usually Alternative music is really catchy and just really enjoyable to listen to. So what's your favorite music genre? and Why? :D :)

as the song says: HEAVY METAL!

I like REGGAE, MELLO ROCK and lots and lots of different ANIME CARTOON SOUNDTRACKS X-P why?...... cuz i like them a LOT :)

J-pop for me

Techno and J-Pop

Rock, of sorts. My bro's band is awesome, it's not generic shit that you can just call out (G major... E... G <that'd be most of Green Day's stuff). It really makes you think, and they don't just stick to four-four time, which is why they had such a hard time finding a new drummer (the other guy didn't want to stay once it got more serious). They're intellectual about it, my bro spends a ton of hours a day practisin' guitar before going to record.

ok let me list these becuz i dont really believe in just restraining yourself to a single genre [it's best to try everything at least once], ok here goes; REGGAE, DANCEHALL,HIP-HOP,R&B,TECHNO,J-POP,J-ROCK,A(...) and tons more but that would be stupid of me to list the rest but these are the main ones for me

Oy. . . I dunno. . . either techno or classical music. :) But then I start delving into everything. From different languages to different beats. ^_^ I guess everything but. . . country. . . evil. . .>_<

Metal(the most i listin to next to everything else), hard rock, oldies, techno(including game themems), jpop/rock. and many more but thoses are the most common i listin to

I like a lot of Genres but the top of the list would be j-pop and j-rock.

I grew up on metal for the most part, some alternative and industrial. Still listen to that but I've gotten into classical, primarily movie scores, some from shows even and even some game scores. Also have gotten into country music as well, used to always say I hated it too but then I actually tried it, somewhat funny really as people often talk about how slow and sad and depressing it is yet it's really generally more upbeat than most the other genre's.

I love the following:

1. Soft Rock
2. Classical
3. Religious
4. New Age

Pretty much anything but Rap and Disco. Most of my most beloved music comes from the late seventies and eighties. Rarely does the music of today touch me as much as the music I grew up with...like rap-crap. Hate the junk and wonder why oh why when people say they hate it too they always ALWAYS love Eminem as their only acceptation to hating rap. It's like saying you're a vegetarian and then scarfinhg down on steak. Stupid-tard hypocrites!

It's cause Eminem is quite an exception to your everyday commercialized garbage rap, this is not to say that his current lyrical prowwess is as up to par as they used to be (Seriously, Em has fallen a lot). There's quite a striking difference when you compare his lyrics on Infinite LP or Slim Shady LP to his current rhymes, no longer as punchline oriented or witty as they used to be.
So in other words, the people you're talking about have got their words wrong. What they hate is commercialized, money-hungry rap, and I'm pretty confident that if you threw them a BlackStar(Talib Kweli and Mos Def) album, or a Sage Francis album, they'd enjoy it.

As for rap in general, most people (I'd say a good 90%) make the mistake of applying what they hear on the radio all across the board, believing that all rap is limited to money, women, sex, drugs, etc. yadda yadda. And indeed, those radio stations should seriously be updating their playlists, rap artists like Common, Sage Francis, Atmosphere, The Emcee (Jin), The Demigodz, The Roots, etc. aren't getting even a fourth of the publicity and respect they deserve. Rap isn't about bragging about your riches or material wealth, it's about conveying a conscious message through words and music.

pop punk

I don't like to listen to loud rock concert music all the time. I like sad songs or songs that are about something other than getting your heart broken. Soft, mellow music is what I like. Am I describing classical music?

I like J-rock...

WOOOOO another person trying to get to me love rap or maybe even like it and on top of that trying to convince me of the genius that is Eminem like he's just so different from every other rap artist (oh and I use the term artist loosely) out there. I grew up when rap was in its infancy and everyone I was around just fell so hopelessly in love with it and now are the stupidest people in the world...course I'm not saying that there is a connection to rap and the stupidity of today’s youth but I am thinking it loudly. Do you know how sick I was when VH1 began to play rap music videos...talking about selling your soul for nothing at all. Yeah I know I sound like I'm a hundred years old and go a head and say that I am but there's nothing genius about bitching about your supposed hard life while skanky brainless women dance around you. Regardless of what you think or...scream at me *that's right scream not sing and yell) it was the life that you chose weather you believe me or not. Everyone can change and make their lives better...didn't we all learn when we were in elementary that putting people down just to boost your ego was a bad thing...give me a break PFT! ~_~

pop, rock, piano, instrumental... ^^"

Classic Rock, blues. I like music of mixed genres; I can listen to a lot of different music but I hate techno!

Clasic rock, 80's metal, AC/DC ( sound of its own ) , New rock, Adult alt. , 90's alt. , pretty much anything rock.....

Dave Mathews still sucks

that's your ignorance talking. if you bothered to read my post more carefully, you would have seen I was not trying to convince you to like it. I merely don't appreciate people disrespecting the genre for the wrong reasons. If it doesn't suit your preferences despite looking at all sides of it, well then, that's you.

1. i clearly stated "conscious message." whoever said anything about a supposed hard life and scantily clad women?
2. Funny how you bring up VH1, what's next? MTV? You should realize that both channels play the absolute lamest and most degrading artists of the rap genre. (Seriously, somebody needs to shoot 50 Cent again, cause they obviously failed the first time.)

Here are some actual rap videos for you to look at, oh and do tell me how many scantily clad women you happen to see dancing around.
First video: Jin Tha MC- Top 5 Dead Or Alive
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WyuUe3YKfQ&search=Top%205
Second video: Mic Stylez and Esoteric - Bringin It Back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QtlmIZL_Tk&search=Esoteric

Heck, I figure you haven't even heard of artists like Del The Funky Homosapien, Immortal Technique, Rakim, 7l and Esoteric, Apathy, Common, Black Thought, etc.

Jpop and Rock work for me

I like Asian pop. Although I don't understand the lyrics I feel more from Asian pop than I do from songs from American artists.
