Well this is a Blood+
wallie that took forever. I used the following scan and the
extraction and fixing up of the two characters kept me busy for a couple of
hours. Would appreciate your opinions before I submit. Thanks!
But I'd loose the vertical division between the characters and the left
abstract, it only enhances you cut out something and tried to pull a wall
together. A wallpaper should always be looked at as if it was a whole, a
painting, etc. Right now it looks divided.
You should also try to find fitting colors when you beging your abstract stuff
behind the scan. Try and use the eyedropper and pick colors from your scan (
Saya's dress color with the blue from the roses would be a great example) so
everything goes well together. Right now the tones of brown and beige go well
together, but they don't fit the scan's colors~
Aaand well putting the title of your wallpaper in the complete middle of your
wall is never a great idea, it attracts too much attention
Yes, your wallpaper looks as if it was split up in two parts. It is not creating
a new setting. Maybe you wanted to make it look modern. And they often combine
their art with these geometric shapes. But still both will always be connected
in some way. Adjusing the color is always a good idea. Like candy-chan said:
eyedropper! So you can make sure to pick the same color like in the original
scan.
Placing letters in the middle is not forbidden... sometimes it might work... but
you used that kind of font. It's huge so it naturally gets the first attention.
The original scan is almost disappearing when it is placed next to such a scan
that is dominating the whole wallpaper.
Also the shapes that you were using. You have these circles and at the same time
there are squares. I think the scan that you chose isn't supporting the sort of
style you were going for with these shapes.
Keep in mind ... you want people to look at your work. Especially since it is a
wallpaper. So the ideal would be to have people using it as your desktop. That
means they want something nicely to be looked at. Not something that
"splits their eyes in two dimensions" almost. It should create an
atmosphere, a feeling, a beautiful image... so it's important that there is some
harmony between the elements, may it be shapes, style, fonts, colors etc.
Well thank you for the suggestions ^_^* I swopped around as you thought and I
hope this looks better. Is this wallie ready for the gallery do you
think?
It's an interesting idea, but I think more could be done with it. The circles in
the bg give me the impression of a retro club, with a curtain of circles
spinning on wire. Perhaps you could extend the circles across the entire bg, add
some vertical dotted lines, and build up some texture in the bg to create a
semi-realistic club look.
Don't mind me i'm just a wandering noob, but I thought I would throw in my 2
cents. Have you tried putting the title back into the wallpaper? Perhaps another
font and color, but I think it might be a good adition to the left side of the
wall.
Take it with a grain of salt, but it's something that I just noticed.
I really do like the wall. But the scan doesnt fit right. I think it is because
the background is all vector like and the scan still had that i dont know scan
look to it. Sorry I really can't think of a way to descibe it. But I would
recommend vectoring the scan I think that would help it blend alot. And maybe
something on the left side, or move saya and kai over some. Not centered but not
so far to the right

good thing the scan is not low quality.

Well I changed the colours and the vertical and horizontal seperation. I think it does look better. Thanks for the advise, any more?
Well, firstly I think the gradient and should run the other way (white to blue left to right) and the circles behind the scan if possible.
That way the gradient and circles draw attention to the scan... instead of having a double focal effect.
You can try it I guess. That's the way I tend to put my things together... to make one focal point.

Tried the suggestion of making it look more like a club, so is this a bit better or worse ^_^*
I'm not sure.
You really don't have to follow my suggestions to the letter. It really depends on what you want to do.
The brick wall looks a bit closed in. Perhaps you could do something else with the backdrop.
but the circles look much better like this
I'm really liking this as it progresses. I think we have too many circles now though.
Well it's good advise ^_^*
SO too many sirkels or just right?

Ok I changed the perspective of the wall so it doesnt look so flat. I removed a few of the circles.
I hope it is ready for the gallery hehe ^_^*
It looks pretty good, but the scan looks somewhat low quality. You should try cleaning it up. Good luck!
I submitted it and yet again it got deleted. I am seriously close to just giving up with the whole thing
