Fortunately not at all. Most of my friends at university also like them and
others just accept it. And of course many don't know what's the meaning of the
word "anime". But there are cases, when I have to hide my anime/manga
loving. For example I can't read Bastard manga while sitting on the bus, because
it freaks out old ladies
i don't hide it nor show it to anyone else. if they know, i'm collecting anime,
fine with me. if they doesn't, who cares. it's not like i'm meddling with their
affair or something like that. and i don't watch hentai, so i really does't have
anything to hide.
I think most of you are lucky. Yes I had to hide all my mangas to avoid my
parents` recon even when I am in middle school (I have a guerrilla warfare
history about 12 years). In China almost every adult think manga and anime are
things just for children younger than 7 years old, and every older than that
ages should be more reasonable and spend more time to study. In China parents
have a great influence about their child as their own 'objects', and anything we
do not welcomed by them will be punished. I`ve some manga books threw away. now
I come to university, and at least I am a semi-adult, so I can have some freedom
to do my favorates more or less. =_|||
i never actually hide it i mean ALL of my frens all noe i love anime and mangas
exept my parents dont like me readin or watching them she onli lets me draw...
Once upon a time I guess I might of, but that was a non-issue as I have only
been interested in anime for a short time.
Now I don't worry about much at all, I just avoid mentioning it front of
ignorant people. You mention it to someone, then a few minutes later you have a
group of four anime fans chatting with you about their favourite series. Anime
has really spiked in popularity lately it seems to me, as the rate of shows
being lisenced has rapidly increaced and now it is actually availalbe in regular
stores like Target, not to mention specialty shops.
Never! Im proud and tell everyone. Everyone knows me for liking and drawing
manga. (Whether they consider it bad or good) There are a few anime fans in my
year. Almost everyone has seen Spirited Away or Akira, soit ain't too bad.
My friends don't want me to talk about anime or manga, because I'm driving them
crazy :P
.
Well, that the most people relate anime with hentai... that's true. At school,
there's a boy who cries, is you sai manga or anime: 'Hentaaaaaaaaaai'. But he's
sick...
well from my friends like at school and stuff i dotn really tell them cuz their
not really into it..so yea..but at home no my fam knows about it and
stuff..specially with my sis...i can talk to her about it and everythign cuz she
got me into it lol ^_^
Hell NO! why would I? watching anime is not like Im selling crack on a corner or
something is just another way to spend your free time, like watching a
footballmatch a soap opera or South Park.
Anyway I don't really care much about others oppinion so as to hide the things
that I like to do, who knows they might like it too.
well i guest i'm lucky my group of friend look anime just like me and the most
of people i see dont realy know what is a anime so i dont keep that like a
secret
no way... i have no reason to hide it.. i love anime and no one can ridicule
anime in front of me..
besides anime is more interesting than those soap operas aired in my country..
they're just bunch of craps..
People who don't know what anime is think that anime is just some kiddy cartoon
like Pokemon (not that I'm bagging Pokemon - it's a great show for kids). They
don't understand that anime in Japan is like TV in the western world; there's
all sorts of genres targetted to all sorts of age groups.
I've been able to get a few people watching anime, but whether or not people
choose to watch it or understand it is up to them. Whatever they say, I'll keep
watching and enjoying my anime
I guess you could say a sort of hide it, meaning I am only really open with it
around others who know and understand my intrest. In any other situations I view
it casually and gague peoples reaction.
Well I really love anime and I dont see the reason why you should hide it...Be
proud cuz I know I am.I even learned how to speak fluent english cuz of anime
through loudly reading the subtitles^^ and they are all shocked when I sing
anime song's^^Like what others say Anime has all types of genre's...Can you
consider the anime GANKUTSUOU to be childish!?!?For me Anime can even teach you
lessons in life so if your friends dont like anime then thats there loss^^
yeah i REALLY hide it because 95% of my friends don't even like anime and manga.
hell, i even hide it when i go on anime sites(like this one). whenever i'm
watching anime or on the internet, i always close the door and lock it. i have
some very nosy friends so i just hide it and act as if i haven't even heard of
anime- although that really irritates the #$%%$&$%& out of me.
Not really. I only have one person who teases me about it and it wouldn't do any
good to keep it a secret from him he already knows I watch it. Of course that is
my older brother. >=0000000~~~~~!
Of course don't! Most of my friends like anime too and the people that don't
like respect the fact that i like anime..My mom don't like anime, but she
respect that i like. I guess that i never would be friend of someone that don 't
can't respect the fact that i like it.
Well since its just their opinion, I don't worry about it. I haven't been swayed
by someone elses opinion of me in a while. If they ask me about it I'll explain
it but most of them just look at it as a cartoon so I don't try to go much
further than that. Problem is most people are fairly close minded about things.
Well from my friends i can't hide it because i dress like one. I try to hide it
from my parents because they go on and on bout how i look like a cartoon. They
don't know about my stash of anime really so shhhhh ^-^
Ahaha, most of my girlfriends think I'm such a nerd for liking anime. I
definitely keep it a secret, but I love finding other people who like the same
series as me so instead of buying shirts with the obvious anime titles or
characters on them I make my own that pretty much blend in with the masses
unless you know exactly what it means. I made a Death Note shirt recently that
was completely white with an embelleshed L on the front, but no one's gotten it
yet. Someone asked me if the L standed for loser.

my friends all like anime and mangas. its awsome we borrow from each other
I don't care if people know or not. If someone doesn't like it then I'll do my best to get them addicted to prove that it's not just a kid thing.

also hide it sometimes when i'm at school here in the netherlands don't know
anything about anime there are a few that know.

I dont like to get people hooked on to anime that has never really gotten into it. It's kinda like copying that person.
