The Policy and the Frequently Asked Questions of Minitokyo have been revised.
This was done with two objectives in mind
1) Explain some points better
2) Provide you with better support by answering other frequently asked questions

Keep in mind that by being a member of Minitokyo you agree to the policy, so if you want to stay in this community head over to the support section and read the
Policy and the FAQ.

The Policy was extensively revised in order to state more clearly the purpose of Minitokyo, and to explain better the rules that all members are expected to follow. Special consideration was given to the Submissions and Posting sections of the policy. Still be sure to read the policy carefully

The support section was revised to add questions that have been commonly asked in the forum.
The most important changed were made in the submitting and submissions section, with better explanation of what is allowed and not allowed on minitoyo, and some guidelines for making wallpapers
Other significant changes were made in the Posts, Forum and General sections. Still all the sections were revised, so please read it all.

Good idea! In fact Great idea! Some of the policies werent fully explained, along with technical how-tos, which led to unnecessary arguing. A revised FAQ should fully benefit MT.

Hi there, Keltosh! Happy new year. Oh, may I make a few comments/questions/nitpicks?

(1) Posting Policy: under 'guestbook policy' and 'shoutbox' policy
It's still incomplete, no? Or do the 'forum policy' policies apply apply also to said two policies?

(2) Re: Indy Art, Wall, Scans...
thanks for the details (and bullet format)... now's it's really clearer!

(3) Under General Policy: "It is forbidden to submit anything in a language other than English in the forum, gallery, reports, inquiries, or shoutbox. Thus it is allowed to post materials in languages other than English in guest books and Private Messages. Foreign languages are also allowed on gallery items, provided that it has artistic value."

Again, clearer and a much better policy than the previous one. But on a personal note, the "forbidden" word is too strong for me. ^_^

(4) Posting Policy: "All posts should be on-topic and relevant to the specific forum in which they appear, consistent with the descriptions provided for each on the forum index. Posts in any given thread should likewise be at least generally relevant to the discussion at hand -- if you're going off at a tangent, please consider starting a new thread. Posts or threads which are inappropriate to the theme of a given forum or discussion thread may be moved to a more suitable one or, in case of a thread, subject to closing."

I think this is the same as the previous one, right? Do correct me if I'm wrong, but is it not also the responsibility of the forum thread-maker (the one who initiated the thread) to monitor and regulate the flow of discussion in her/his thread? Or is this right solely in the hands of the MT mods/admin?

Anyway, that's it for now. And, thanks for the obviously-hard work you're doing!

Hello. ^^ Happy New Year.

I was wondering about wallpaper submissions though. If you created a wallpaper and you don't have the original file on hand, do you submit it even though you don't have the proof that it's yours?
I have a wallpaper I posted on DeviantArt a while back and I wanted to upload it here, but since then, I've gotten a new laptop and my old laptop failed to burn my files on the CD correctly. ^_^' I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused, I've just been wondering about this.

Whoa.. well done Kel.. that was a lot to edit... ^___^ and also A LOT to read *sweat*

I have a question...
for submitting doujinshi... if my artwork does not feature an anime/manga/game chara, then should it be submitted in Abstract galleries?

And about posting and 64 characters minimum - even with that, people make posts with only two words!

* pornography: Other than clicking into the definition, it includes: creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire.

I still think the deffinition of what to, and what not to post(scan) is still vague useing this term. The true confuseing thing is determining what is of artistic value, and what isn't. To some its art and to others its porn. Like i said weeks ago, there should be examples of what we can't post in the Policy section.

@Pirokitty: you can submit it. As long as nobody says they made it showing proof you'llnot get in trouble
@eunasahng: for doujinshi : put it under abstract only if it is abstract. If it's of some charatcers that take ispiration from anime or manga, put it under doujinshi/original
As fort the 64 character thing, be sure to report all those.
@kastelic: keep in mind that marute content is not just pornography... But anything that the moderators deem so.

So we use our judgement and let the mods determine the borderline stuff??
Also I just see a company wallpaper(Example dreamsoft) posted and it was 1024x768, how was it able to submit. Since it falls way below 1,000,000 pix. I know you can submit those but I thought it had to be 1,000,000 pix. It should have kicked it back and not let it submit right??

Thank you Keltosh for bringing this to our attention. Especially us new members. I am also pleased to say to I have NOT seen anything offensive on this site (a first out of many websites). Thanks again :).

p.s. If I understand the policy and forum rules, when I reply to a thread, I can't use other language like thank you in romaji, correct?

The FAQ is now very thorough - good job.

------------------------------

Users with a Level of 1 - 9 can only submit up to 3 new scans a day.
Users with a Level of 10 - 19 can only submit up to 6 new scans a day.
Levels 20+ can submit unlimited scans.

------------------------------

Finally - a way to stop new people from ripping or posting up terrible images.
The word scans would also include wallpapers, am I correct?

I've noticed new members also post up wallpapers that are not of their own, and sometimes mistaken scans for wallpapers.

Wondered if scans/wallpapers is included in this "scan" definition. It should, hopefully. Makes sense too.

The yatta yatta yatta stuff should be last, what do I mean? The stuff most ppl say yeah I know already when they read the general policy “It is forbidden to submit any material that is unlawful, false, misleading, harmful, insulting... yeah! yeah! I get it already just your typical legalese stuff I don't want to read that! I wanna post some crappy pics to get my 10 points! Even myself I won't bother with generic legal stuff... who has time! I dunno how many times have I seen this policy stuff on the net and never read it because it is like all the others and it's everywhere. My point is you should make it look less like the generic find everywhere policy from the get go.

i'm reading the support section. As far as i see you have made an excellent work. sorry for the long post ^_^'

opinion :

1)
quote : While we endeavor to protect freedom of speech, there are certain behaviors which are not tolerable and/or constitute an infringement of human rights. Therefore we have set up this policy.

very well said. I don't remember if this one was like that in the previous support section ... but it is a very well phrased sentence.

2)
about wall quality in the faq it is really concise and well explained i think.

and with the point saying we have to check sticky topics before asking; we will see the detailed post

3)
quote : Moderators reserve the right to delete material that they deem inappropriate for the Minitokyo Galleries with or without notification, even if that material conforms to this policy.

yeah now, i understand this sentence better ^_^ it was notification and not deletion

4)
quote : Before starting a new thread, search to make sure it is not a duplicate thread. Also if the thread is regarding a question or problem, check the sticky forum threads and the recent forum threads to make sure the question / problem hasn't been addressed before.

*thumbs up* again ^_^

5)
quote : For guestbook posting the following applies:
* All posts should contain positive feedback or constructive criticism for the member at hand.

very good it clarify an important point to me.

7)
thanks also for the definition of spam

suggestions :

1)
quote : in the faq > settings and customisation

Q2 . In the upper lefu menu
i think it is left and not lefu ^_^'

2)
quote : Grayscale (under scan section in the support section)

isn't it Greyscale ? with an e ? i'm not sure ^_^'
thank you to have divided this point in 2. It is very clear now and there is even a reason *thumbs up*

3)
about technical terms under the scan section :

quote : The image must not be enlarged to fit the minimum dimension criteria, and it must not be excessively blurred, unsharp, noisy, over- or undersaturated, over- or underlit or a screenshot.

i have found a thread made by sammo expressing what is smart blur ; but it is maybe hard to understand what is unshparp and noisy. Is the meaning of these words : "not precise" ? The rest is good.
link to sammo thread with image examples : http://forum.minitokyo.net/showthread/8528/
maybe should it be sticky ?

4) last thing about a sentence in the support section under doujinshi :

quote : You may not submit unfinished pieces of artwork, quick sketches or other doodles.

maybe "or other doodles" is not necessary ; "etc" is as good i think

well ^_^ i have finished. Super work keltosh
