when you draw/sketch what do you use more often? pen or pencil? i use pen more than pencil. i don't know. i guess it makes me draw better, since there is no room for screw ups.

I've never sketched in pen because I make too many mistakes and it usually takes me a day or two to come out with something resembling what it should. I do however ink my drawings to make the more defined.

Might try it sometime.

its obvious that i'm lazy. sorry, but i'm sure its also pretty obvious that i had an original intention for starting this thread, and just going to the other thread wouldn't help me in the way this will. by asking the question is makes it more personal, and it allows me to know that people are answering the question as though they might be speaking to me. so even if it is a duplicate thread the usefullness to the individual outside of this site is not a duplicate. sorry again.

I use pencil more often than pen. However, I'll usually do someting in pencil, color it, then outline it with pen.

I would have to say a pencil, becasue you can get a better shading then you can with a pen.

I usually prefer to use a pen nowadays, because I like the fact that there is little room for error. It seems to refine my ability a little more, where as with a pencil I am more carefree knowing in the back of my mind I can instantly erase whatever I don't like. I think a pencil is ideal for building up drawing/sketching skillz but once you start looking for more control and refinement a pen can be a good tool. Just my opinion on the matter, I'm sure others may or may not agree.

I should use pen, really, I rarely ever erase with my pencil, but I just like the control of tones and line thickness with a pencil. You can get the same thing with a brushpen, but that'd require more hand control than I have patience with.

i like the dark smooth tones u can get w/ pen... however, i usually use a pencil because i'm not too confident of my strokes yet.

I always use pencil because even if you are very good, its difficult to create a desirable effect using pen only. For example, with pencil there are different types for different parts (like 6B for depth) and well... **lufffz the eraser** ^___^

Whenever I draw something artistic, I go for pencils all the time.

I hardly ever make an error when draw something neat, and will only erase whenever the time seems necessary of course. The pen is fine, and I hardly make mistakes at all, but once in a while I do sometimes when I'm not aware and it does look sort of bad, but it isn't that terrible after all when you think about the entire picture this way.

That's why I use pencils almost all the time to draw the rough draft and the pen for the final copies.

I love to draw and smudge a lot, so pencils are my best friend for me when drawing here pretty much. ^_^

Pencils are easier to use and you can erase your mistakes. It's also easier to shade with it.

The thread may be personal to you, but it's a duplicate to the moderators.

For the thread (if you still want my answer), I would rather use pencil. It's easier for shading with pencil than pen. That's why my images look as if they are somewhat 3D.
