N O T E: I ran a search through the forums to avoid a double-threading.
I'm wondering what song type and if any one song in particular describes you best.

For me, I waver between categories. ^_^'
So, I think that as for category, I'd fall under a sort of emo, because I tend to listen to songs with strong lyrics with meaning. ^_^
I think if there was a general song for how I feel on average, then it would be Natalie Imbrulia's "Torn" or "Left of the Middle".

Okay, so now it's your turn!! Tell me what yours would be! ;)

Natalie Imbruglia's Torn song was indeed fantastic.

I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm
He came around and he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry
Well you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know
Seem to care what your heart is for
But I don't know him anymore
There's nothing where he used to lie
The conversation has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothing's fine I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake
And I can see
The perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn

So I guess the fortune teller's right
Should have seen just what was there
And not some holy light
it crawled beneath my veins
And now I don't care
I had no luck
I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things
That I can touch I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake
And I can see
The perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn
Torn

There's nothing where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothing's right I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake
And I can see
The perfect sky is torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I'm ashamed
Bound and broken on the floor
You're a little late
I'm already torn
Torn.

I love the lyrics indeed - and its a very passionate song indeed.

I would probably go for a high-energic song here - but there's this one song from J-Pop Meets Harmony and that is To Be - by Ayumi Hamasaki (Harmony Violin Orchestrated). Sometimes I think songs without words describes me best here, really.

Quoting just to express my nice feelings about this "soothing" album.
Anyway,I'm not sure about a song that can express the whole me,if this happened then I should have to start thinking about some things I believe about myself...
If talking about which songs make me feel close bound to it's overall feeling I believe it's what I express when I'm playing or composing any kinds of music.Fragments of me.

This is not my favorite song but I guess it's lyrics describe me best ^^

The is... Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't wanna go home right now

And all I could taste is this moment
And all I can breath is your life
And sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't comming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

Yep ^^ that's me...

I'd rather be hated for who I am rather than loved for who I pretend to be...

Same for me, like I said I waver. I love all kinds of music but sometimes, depending on how I feel about my life at the time, I lean more to a certain one.
K-pop/rock, J-pop/rock, and C-pop are some of my fav's too. I think they express things so well , even if I can't always unerstand the lyrics. ^_^'

lol - well some people listen to J-Pop songs without even understanding what the lyrics have meant. People from North America just listen to it because it sounds so cool. ^_^

Can't understand the Lyrics? - lol - well I'll tell you this much - when you sing in Japanese, your vocabulary becomes more flexible because unlike the English language, the Japanese language has many syllables with multiple words that can mean the exact same thing - really, while a word in the English language has synonyms and they don't sound as catchy, like poor words used in a poem - but because the Japanese language is much more flexible and unique, it always sounded so cool - especially without knowing what the meanings of the words come from. Some songs hardly make any sense though - and they do get away with it when it comes to making these lyrics in Japanese because singing in Japanese always sounded so cool - but if you really know your songs really well and can understand them in Japanese, you'll realize they aren't that bad at all - they're very nice as a matter of fact.

Which is why Japanese songs make more sense, their lyrics are more flexible compared to the English language indeed.

i dont know i this song describe me but it remember me some instant of my life :

Craig David - What's Changed

Hey, baby
Oh tell me, babe
Why do you wanna play these games with me?
Thought you always wanted to be with me

Verse 1
Well at first girl, I wanted to
But things have changed between me and you
That's why I don't know what I'm gonna do
Lately, you say I been acting kinda strangely
Like I don't love you no more

You say "call me" (call me call me call me)
But I just can't explain
It's all so crazy
Between me and you, baby oooooooh

And even though at first you meant the world to me (world to me)
The time has come to spread my wings and be set free (be set free)
So I can figure out a place where I belong (I belong)
To find my way home now love is gone (girl, now that love is gone)

Now baby singing...

Why don't you call me no more?
It was every night you were calling me before
Given half a chance, you'd be knocking at my door
So, tell me what's changed

Baby, tell me what's changed

Why don't you give me some time
Tell me, cuz I can't get you out of my mind
But up until now, we been doing just fine
So, tell me what's changed

Baby tell me what's changed

Baby (baby) Baby
Since we met, I've treat you like a lady
But now I don't know what to do
I think maybe (maybe maybe maybe)
It's just that my well for you has run empty
What am I gonna do, baby? (ooooh oooooooooh)

And even though at first, you made me so happy (so happy)
My love for you has changed, so put the blame on me (blame on me)
Under pressure, it's too hard for me to stay (to stay)
And I get so guilty when you page me everyday, with hope

Why won't you answer my page?
It was you who said things were never gonna change
And it seems like lately you're acting kinda strange
So, tell me what's changed

Baby, tell me what's changed

Why can't you even pass by?
Spend some of your time, even just to say hi
You're not the type of guy who would make a girl cry
So, tell me what's changed

Baby, tell me what's changed

Girl, I know
It seems like I don't care (I don't care)
After all the things we used to share (after all the things we used to share)
Now I know it feels like I've done you wrong (done me wrong)
But the pain will heal the sooner that I'm gone (I'm gone, I'm gone, girl) (oooh ahhhh)

Baby singing...

Why don't you call me no more? (oh girl)
It was every night you were calling me before (I guess I shoulda told you, yeah)
Given half a chance, you'd be knocking at my door
So, tell me what's changed (cuz now I don't know what I'm gonna do girl)

Baby, tell me what's changed

Why don't you give me some time? (said give me some time)
Tell me, cuz I can't get you out of my mind (can't get you off of my mind, no)
But up until now, we been doing just fine
So, tell me what's changed

Baby, tell me what's changed (saying now tell me what's changed, baby)

Why won't you answer my page? (because sometimes things, they change, yeah)
It was you who said things were never gonna change
And it seems like lately you're acting kinda strange (don't you know)
So, tell me what's changed (tell me tell me whats changed)

Baby, tell me what's changed

Why can't you even pass by? (oh girl)
Spend some of your time, even just to say hi (don't you know)
You're not the type of guy who would make a girl cry (things ain't the same)
So, tell me what's changed

Baby, tell me what's changed

Girl, I never meant to make you cry (yeah, babe)
But its so hard to find the words to say (I wanna know what's changed, babe)
So I never wanted girl, to hurt you (mmmmm)
Oooooooh no, girl please believe me (oooooh yeah ahhh)

You could only say that simply because of the syllabed word structure almost most of the time the every second letter of a word will probably be a vowel (a,i,u,e,o)and the language sounds just melodic most of the time. That is great if you consider its flexibility on a song.

i think two songs describe me better than one:

NIGHTWISH - DEAD boy`s POEM

Born from silence, silence full of it
A perfect concert my best friend
So much to live for, so much to die for
If only my heart had a home

Sing what you can't say
Forget what you can't play
Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes
Walk within my poetry, this dying music
- My loveletter to nobody

Never sigh for better world
It's already composed, played and told
Every thought the music I write
Everything a wish for the night

Wrote for the eclipse, wrote for the virgin
Died for the beauty the one in the garden
Created a kingdom, reached for the wisdom
Failed in becoming a god

"If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse, songmaker's cry the one without tears
For I've given this its strength and it has become my only strength.
Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality
where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life"

"Teach me passion for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
I'm sorry
Time will tell (this bitter farewell)
I live no more to shame nor me nor you
And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..."

A lonely soul
An ocean soul

DIMMU borgir - kings OF THE carnival CREATION

Incarnated marvels simplified
Effects from such a disconsolate kind
Impotence of the once so perfect living
Erase and rewind

Stand rigid for the next battle
Peace means reloading your guns
The love for life is all hatred in disguise
A carnival creation with masks undone

In search for the guidelines to the gateways of sin
through mires of misanthropy with wrath in mind
Sophistication as cruelty and perfection as virulent truth
Confidently dawned, to pick the best of enemies
An abyss womb stretched wide open, exposed to retaliate

With the stigma feasting upon your flesh I wish you well
Thorns from the fountains of fate licking lepered skin
Worshipped by anyone's mass on our planet hell
What on earth possessed you

Consuming illusions made from hysteria and swallowed tongues
Devoured by doubt, conducting arts of misconception
Testimonial sufficiency declaring numbness of all perceptions

Glance into the blackness hidden beneath your surface
And enjoy the suffering, sanity drained in disrespect
With such bedevilled faith in good, subsequently trusting evil
Next step for mankind will be the last seasons in sin

Left are the kings of the carnival creation
Carrying out the echoes of the fallen

Sense the withering eternity as it fades away
The ultimate graceless voyage of all times
Only death will be guarding your angels, silently
Cripples joining arms in clamour
Institutionalized for the rebirth, the herd will be hunted

I think it would be that song from Crossfade, Cold .

Looking back at me I see
That I never really got it right
I never stopped to think of you
I'm always wrapped up in
Things I cannnot win
You are the antidote that gets me by
Something strong
Like a drug that gets me high

What I really meant to say
Is I'm sorry for the way I am
I never meant to be so cold to you

And I'm sorry about all the lies
Maybe in a different light
You could see me stand on my own again
Cause now i can see
You were the antidote that got me by
Something strong like a drug that got me high
I never meant to be so cold

I never really wanted you to see
The screwed up side of me that I keep
Locked inside of me so deep
It always seems to get to me
I never really wanted you to go
So many things you should have known
I guess for me theres just no hope
I never meant to be so cold

This is what it seems liek I do every time I date or meet some one new...well I'm not going to get into ^^' Well eitherway it's a cool song^^

Right, which is one reason why I try to translate the lyrics as best I can when i have time,; and because I love knowing what they mean. ^_^
There's an deeper meaning to songs and simply understanding the language is a part of that meaning. :)
I've been trying to teach myself how to read/write/speak/understand Japanese for awhile now, but I've been distracted because of normal interruptions like school and (in general) life. XP Merely learning a language, through song or other wise, does amazing things for the mind's capabilities also, no matter the language chosen.

oops,.. Got a little off topic! haha, At least it's still about songs and their meanings! OX

lol - no problems - those lyrics truly do have meaning if you focus into them a lot. They sound great, of course - but to the Japanese people - they melt their hearts into those kinds of songs - you just gotta understand what they're feeling to get the full effect. That's why I love J-Pop so much, indeed.

lol indeed - then you have a few of Utada's tracks that really blew me away.

There was this one song from Ayumi Hamasaki called Unite! which when I first listened to it 2 years ago - really had me moved, literally. That song is very, very good - the beat is very catchy and the tones used well. Ayumi wrote the lyrics fairly well - not the best - but done well.

I'm going to try not to go astray anymore...

There is something I want to tell you.
I could spend the fun times with anyone,
but when I'm sad, yeah,
no one else can take your place.

Even just in your dreams,
even in troubled times,
I don't want you to forget me.

Freedom in the right hand, Love in the left
We'll walk on, embracing both, and stumbling from time to time.

The coming of another, same morning is depressing.
Suddenly, the square sky seems very empty.

There have been days
when suddenly I shed
tears at daybreak.
I told you while crying:

People are short-lived, but they are strong.

I have you, who will protect me.
Freedom in the right hand, Love in the left
We'll walk on, embracing both, and stumbling from time to time.
wow wow wow

It's good in a sense - but there is one track off by Chou which I incredibly love indeed.

"No matter where you go, no matter how tough life may be, just remember that always in your heart, you will still be loved."

Pink Floyd - Brain Damage

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path

The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon

The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me ’till I’m sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There’s someone in my head but it’s not me.

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon
