Well, as for me... ATHRUN ZALA is the best!!! Darn it, he's so cute with the AEGIS and JUSTICE. Cagalli is really lucky to have him...

for me, i'd say duo maxwell! high adrenalied super stealth attack kicks a big one.

I would say... Athrun in seed and Wufei in gundam wing endless waltz cause he kicked Wing Zeros ass, but... thats only because heero was kind of gotton to soft and crap... damn you relena!!

Amuro Ray, Char Aznable....
and Shiro Amada, he's the best because he could pilot anything with good, ranging from ultra obsolete ball to Mass
Production Gundam (which is comparable to Zaku), he doesn't have super ultra gundam like those in seed, plus
he's not a newtype (or coodinator) but that's what make him good, he use his brain and strategic thinking and
could win the fight without using any newtype/seed ability.
also most of his opponent are far more powerful in term of mobile armor/suit technology (ex : apsalas).
and the last one...he's well disciplined and mature for a soldier.

I woud have to say either Duo or Heero becacuse, they can kick so much butt, even with a reagural mobile suit.

Duo Maxwell, or Milliardo Peacecraft (a.k.a Zechs Marquize) they were my favourite Pilots of all, and they had the best Gundams...*sigh* fine Heero's was ok...Custom all the way.

I'd say Kira cause he may be real nice and passive, but hes awesome when hes in a mobile suit fight...and freedom has to be one of the coolest looking Gundams so far.
My choice will be Kira and Heero...

I think Zechs Merquise is good.... but for me the best pilots are in UC
Ryu Roots = Pilot of System Alice ( msa-0011 S Gundam )
- He could pilot a mobile suit designed for 3 pilots on his own
- He is a Newtype Lvl 2, I think
- He can handle Alice Sytem well
- His skills didn't come from genetic engineering therefore he's just really good
Char Aznable = Pilot of the Sazabi ( msn-04 Sazabi )
- Even before he became a Newtype Lvl 2, he can match skills with Amuro a newtype 2
- He pilots a very heavy mobile suit and still manage to give Amuro a hard time
- He became a Newtype Lvl 2
- He mastered the Newtype System
- His skills didn't come from genetic engineering therefore he's just really good
Amuro Ray = Pilot of rx-78 and rx-93 Hi Nu
- best pilot ever according to many professional gundam fans
- only one who attained Newtype Lvl 3
- He is just so damn good
- His skills didn't come from genetic engineering therefore he's just really good
Zeche Merquise = Pilot of Tallgeese 1 & 3 and Gundam Epyon
- probably best pilot in the Gundam Wing Series
- He defeated 150 Aries Mobile Suits & 50 Cancers in 1 episode of Gundam Wind
with a Leo with attached boosters and a beam saber ( Tallgeese 1 is just a Leo w/ enhanced Boosters and big generator
)
- He mastered the Zero System
- He can beat any mobile doll anyday even with Tallgeese 1
Kou Uraki
- Nonnewtype but can pilot Newtype based mobile suits with ease
- Defeated the Anavel Gato ( newtype lvl 2 ) I think
- Can withstand the speed of Stamen
- Nonnewtype but reflexes & skills comparable to newtypes
- Officially considered the "Unknown Ace" of the federation
Shiro Amada
- dunno much about him but I agree he is very good
- nonnewtype but has reflexes and skills comparable to newtypes

I think many people consider Kira and Athrun the best because they haven't seen other Gundam Series, they are just new fans of the Gundam Franchise, so they lack the knowledge to make a clear judgement on the best pilots or mobile suits.....

For me it's between Zechs M. and Wufei.
They both seemed pretty good to me.
