There's nothing wrong with ecchi, even hentai. If you want to watch it, go ahead and watch it. Should you be embarrased? It depends on who caought you i'd say. If my parents caught me i'd be a bit embarrased, but my friends, not at all. I'd probably get teased though.

As a swim instructor, i'm around kids a lot, and i get to see a lot of parents who don't take their job as a mother or father very seriously. What should be done is better parenting and more protective measures by the people who produce H-rated work. If you draw ecchi, make sure any links that take people there clearly specify that the user must be 18 or older. I don't feel that owners should be responsible for more. It's up to the parents to let their kids know 18 and over actually Does mean 18 and older.

Well all u needa do is know your limits to how ecchi it is......nothing wrong wif watching + almost all jap animes contain slight ecchi like swimsuits n all no biggie i think ...so i think protesting against it completely is just wrong but then again remember dont get obsessed,addicted, n blablabla =D hentai IS worse in this case of scenario ...important thing is know ur limits ! N ppl who are obsessed over it are sickos......these ecchi stuff arent even real ppl.....its drawings !!!!well but its up to u if u wanna be obsessed haha

You are right, but i belive that the use of a word defines its meaning. I belive that most people in this thread use ecchi to describe a lesser form of hentai so i guess we discuss here not hard porn but mild pantyshots and the like. Images like the ones in the ecchi gallery of mt.

There is a natural phase in the life of a child when it starts disobeying It is usually in the teens and it starts when the child realizes that parents are not godlike beings but mere humans. As parents you have to be very carefull then.
The influence of parents is not unlimited. Thats why the whole society has responsibilities in the upbringing of all children.

Broad subject. Define the type of ecchi behavior you are discussing.
Things that wouldn't make me blink:
1. Chrno getting caught.
2. Asuka's dress accidently blowing up in the wind (and then her decking the guy for being in the wrong place at the wrong time to get a look).
3. Any of the panty shots in Project A-ko - because they are there as comic relief, and are also not explicit.Ecchi != sexually explicit.
It can be something as a snide comment, insinuating something, without spelling out what that something is.
Hentai - that'd be a different story, but that's only because it's not really my thing.

i've honestly been caught watching hentai by my parents. My mom got really pissed but my stepdad didnt care. It really dosent matter anyhow. All of my friends, including the girls i know, know i watch ecchi/hentai anime. Its not like its all i watch, most of my archive is anime movies and normal series ova and stuff. Hentai and ecchi in moderation is fine. You just have to know when its appropriate to watch the stuff.

I know what you mean, logotomie, it isn't that simlple. it's an enormous responsibility placed on parents and the people responsible for supervising kids. Hm, actually while we're on that note schools should do a better job teaching nonacademic responsibility. i don't know about you guys but untill junior year of highschool i didn't have a single morality class... interesting
anyways, back on topic. A good, moral driven society would certainly make that job easier. but at what point do you say "eh, i'll let the rest of the world raise my kid"? The family really ought to be able to function as an autonomous unit. Haha, i don't know i didn't come from a supportive family. have you ever read fahrenheit 451? The parents just plop the kids in front of a TV for 16 years and let the media educate their children. And then they wonder why they don't like kids.

OXwell personally i believe it's something of a personal matter, sure i'd megablush ifi was caught, but hey everyone likes what they like... i cant and wont condone them for being interested in certain kinds of pictures, but one should know what theyre getting into and be prepared for the consequences...
and ecchi has levels, it can be cute and non offensive... or you can go to the dark side and it can really be scarry/gross... just gotta know when to say "ok i had enough" and delete the links/folders/images in your brain... because too much of something aint good
and yeah, those sites are waaaaaaaay to easy to access, just a search engine find away, some people (especially young'uns) may not have enough mental capacity to understand or just dont know how to cope with certain images, and that can be detrimental to their emotional/mental wellbeing in the long run (too many perverts not enough romantics!)

And on the other side a lot of parents dont realize that they are not the only ones responsible and capable of educating the children. Too often shool and teachers are denied their roles in the education of the children....

If I would feel embarrashed? It depends on the person it caught me watching ecchi. If it was my father, my little brother or other person who makes fun of me because I'm watching anime, I would show them proudly, cause they would get that anime aren't childish.
If it was a little kid, I would turn it off in order not to give the bad example. I will show them in few years. Nyhahahaha! I remember than the little son of some family friends which loves anime like Naruto and Runouni Kenshin caught me watching Mahoromatic and I turned it off immediately. And I tell him that if he wants to watch it, he has to wait few years to grow up.
