i like the same kind of movies as well but, i think that hand to hand combat seems a bit more exciting to me. like Bruce Lee, Jet Li and Jackie Chan movies ^_^

i love swords and other miscellaneious weapons.

one of my favorite sword movies is Lone Wolf and Cub series. awesome flicks. :) lots of killings, and beheadings etc. :)

Take out samurai sword, heeeyahh!!! *slash the heads off* , Omnimusha is the best . Japanese samurai fighter beats guns too, just with swift and faster moves. Still chinese shaolin fist of five palm hand beats anyone. I'll prefer to use the combination to fight off so it's just various style of attacking and defending against opponent.

I really liked the figting scene between the two leading female characters in Crouching tiger, Hidden dragon! It was so cool! XD But the movie have to have a good story line, just fighting would be quite boring in th end.
Haven't seen Azumi but it sounds lika a good movie!

i wonder why so many people enjoy azumi for the fighting scenes.
yes there were many fighting scenes, but they were done sloppy.
IMO everyone could see that the actress doesn't have any experience with swordplay.

for nice swordplay i' recommend: "Makai Tensho" (2003), or "Aragami"(stylish)

i don't understand why -narutofan92- likes "Naruto", but doesn't like exxagerated/unrealistic scenes, since many many techniques from naruto originates from chinese wuxia-stories.

i like unrealistic, but stylish action - like Devil May Cry for example

I like well coriographed sword battles and the same goes for martial arts.
I also enjoy well done street brawling style of fighting. Aslong as it's well done and not random. A battle often falls apart when it's being coriographed.

That and I like to see blood fly from the mouth when punched in the stomach or face.
That's always cool. Aswell as flying into walls and cracking them or going through them.
THE hardcore stuff!

Excellently choreographed sword fights and martial arts are certainly impressive to watch, as in Crouching Tiger, Hero, and Flying Daggers. However, for me, it's important that the balance between plot and visuals is kept such that a film doesn't seem to be nothing more than a venue for showcasing martial artists because it puts so much emphasis on the fight scenes at the expense of plot and character development.

As for me, however, the type of battles I'm most partial to are large-scale aerial or naval military engagements. I've always loved the thrill of watching an excellent dogfight scene or watching powerful warships (or starships, in the case of some movies or in anime) jockey for position and engage in long-range artillery duels.

A whole bunch of guys with ak47s catch their breath as they corner a woman in a kimono and a katana in her right hand, a little boy's hand in her left hand.

"Give us the kid or we'll shoot"
"This boy will stay with me, shoot if you want, my katana is enough to take all of you down."
"HAHAHA, you guys hear that? get her, fire, and dont hit the kid, boss wants him alive"

They fire and all of a sudden the woman slides her katana out of its holder, and starts deflecting all the bullets away, ricocheting into the thugs. One guy is left trembling, he drops his gun, and runs away.

Ahhh, yeah thats the stuff, cant resist the sword and mythical asian skills, speaking of which im gonig to go play Jade Empire.

Battles between 2 military factions with guns, wounded guys crying "mediiiiiiic!!!!!!", shots zipping all around the place. Rifles! Machine guns!!! Missiles!!!! Works best if it's the World War II or modern war like in Black Hawk Down.

I also love Matrix-style firefights. People running on the walls filling the place with gunfire, wielding 2 submachineguns and 2 handguns of caliber .44 Magnum and higher (especially .50 AE, .440 Cor-Bon, .454 Casull and .507 Jackal), dodging bullets with an impossible move.
