If only...

I use Adobe Photoshop to design my layouts, or on some layouts I just use it to create the necessary images, depending on what kind of layout I'm doing. I use DreamWeaver for my coding, but mainly because it colours my code, I don't use the wysiwyg part at all...apart from the coloured coding, I also ocasionally make use of it's built in knowledgebase. Apart from that, I DO code everything by hand...exept the things I have insufficient knowledge for, but only if it would take too much time to master it myself.

Recently though, I've begun to use Mambo, an open-source (free) Content Management System ("cms" for short)

dreamweaver mx if you're a beginner or more focused on the design of the web since it has autocompletion feature that help you if you don't remember a code, a preview windows and also colored codes for most html and dynamic language like php,asp or jsp.
but it cost you alot and most new user use frontpage since it come directly with microsoft office.

if you're mainly focused on coding or developing dynamic website or already sufficient web designer/programmer then try notepad++ , you can find it in www.sf.net and because it's open source, it's also free :D (that's the best part).

I haven't try nvu yet, but if this program could at least come close to dreamweaver rich feature I'll be glad to use it.

I was taught on Notepad, so that's what I use now. Had a quick go with Dreamweaver MX and it was ok, but I prefer the control I have with Notepad.

You can work with DreamWeaver on two ways, either the "WYSIWYG"-way or "code-based" like I do and that's what you also do with Notepad/Textpad. It's just how you use DreamWeaver the way you want it to use. And if you have any questions regarding it then you can always ask me about it. \o/

I use Kdevelop, which is only a developers environment, nothing like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. XD So I voted Notepad, since it's the closest to it. :)

Excuse me, people but if you're posting a software especially freeware, kindly post links to it. It'll be helpful to some of us, especially me. Thanks. :) :)

I like using wysiwyg ones, but only because I can double check myself! XD

i love the Adobe products, but can't really use them because of they're expensive.
I have used FP for somethings, but again because I can do regular and wysiwyg styles. ^^ Occasionally, though, FP is just an annoying, little brat. :)

Since I tend to use all sorts of editors, I like using a little proggie called "HTML-Kit," which will check your coding for errors, typos, etc. ^_____^ It's handy-dandy.

That's why I'm here ^_^. I have to help some people on my school (IT class) quite often with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Frontpage (yuck...), html, CSS and other stuff (MS Office, getting spyware/viruses off of their computers etc). Even have to fix some computers of some teachers etc. quite often :S lol. I'm kinda popular I guess...

You don't need all of those plug-ins. Those are just the ones that it supports.

I use Ultra-Edit32. Its a Notepad/Wordpad replacement that will color code the TAGs just like Visual Studio does for program code. It's got so many features I haven't even come close to using them all in over 4 years of use. It is my favorite text editor by far. It even has file comparison built in to compare older files with new ones.
