Notepad... specifically ultra edit when you're doing php since it'll color-code the script.
Frontpage is good for quick, non-compliant, works only on IE webpages... or if you forget the code, you can do it on Frontpage, and copy and paste the text code of it. LOL

Dreamweaver's code sucks. I used to debug lots of web application and the code generated by dreamweaver is very annoying, lots of variable, bad algorithm and lots of code, bad alignment of the code..
And one more thing, i can code what dreamweaver can, but dreamweaver cant code what i can code.

I use frontpage because I'm horribly lazy. God forbid you have to wait more than 4 seconds for a page to load. Gross American excess for the win.
Having said that, is Studio MX worth trying out?

Notepad all the way. It's just the best tool. Since I work with FTP, there's no way I don't use notepad. ^^

Just what exactly is it that you can code that dreamweaver can't?As far as the version mx of macromedia is concerned..
Mx has a good tool to provide access to database..
but when i handled the project Online Vote Canvassing System (This last 2004 presidential election in the phil) there is a part in the web that requires multiple entry for candidates..
aww, dreamweaver only supports single add, update of record at a time..I also developed an Online Report Builder which obviously cannot be generated by MX..
Excuse me for those dreamweaver developers out there..

man, i started from notepad but use dreamweaver now mostly even if i code more in it than just click-and-complete. notepad(or any text editor) really is the fundamental of html.

frontpage is pathetic compared to studio mx imo. But with either frontpage or studio mx making webpages is much much easier. There's not really much need for notepad, since most people would prefer using frontpage/studio mx to at least assist in making the page and if need be, they can edit the html code in the program.
