Am I the only one noticing a distinct trend, in TV but primarily in books, of scifi writers to basically put down the human race in every way imaginable? Time after time, they`re written to be small-minded, pathetic creatures whose little petty wants, desires, dreams and such are nothing before larger schemes.
While I love a good dark story, this is a bit much. Sure, humanity seems dumb and small-minded, but that is not the sum total of the race, nor is it even close to its final potential, not bringing into play such techno-mods as brain implants, nanotech, and the like. There is more to the human brain and mind than most people believe; look at geniuses, monks, savants and other atypical people. Their abilities show that there`s more out there.
So, opinions? agree\disagree? Flame the hell out of me for being so small? ;)
