Proud of your country?

I would like to point out that America does not like to make compromises, and it typically doesn't (When I say America I mean it as a whole, not individuals like yourselves). I'm proud to be Canadian, even though I despise the government. We have our flaws, but it doesn't make me any less proud of my country.

I look for a new world.
I want to meet you, but I can't.

I tremble wearing them but..
..these awakened wings won't fade away.

Quote by fabismineI live in Brazil, and I'm not very proud. We work a lot, we're nice
people, the land is beautiful and the food has taste... but the
politicians screw it all up.

tell me out it
I'm personally proud to be Bolivian, its a beautiful country... but people desapointed me...
politicians are only a part of the problem... we are lossing our values... and it makes me sad

Hmmm... Singapore doesn't really have many things for people to be proud about I think...

Then again, I still like the place.

Altough there's a lot of corruption in the goverment of my country Mexico. I don't care to say that I'm proud of Mexican culture.

Quote by otaku1313I'm not exactly "proud" to be American, but I do like the way the
justice system is run, and the theoretical rights of the people are
good. Unfortunately, like any country, corruption appears, and that
time happens to be now or very soon.

Thats exactly how I feel. There is no way I would have worded it differently. ^^ I will add though, that I don't think we have the right person as our president. Things are bad and nothings being done about it. And things such as gay rights should be passed or something to help the economy, but with the way things are going, it doesn't look like either one is going to happen :/ But all in all, America is an okay place to live ^^ Yay for freedom, ne? :D

Yes, I am very proud to be an American citizen. The U.S. has many flaws, but then again I have never heard of a perfect country.

i like my country ... but i'm not really proud of it. I mean by proud, i don't like how they handle politics and so on. They keep on focusing on stupid social problems like knowing if two gays or two lesbians can adopt a children ; if wearing religious signs must be forbidden ...
But there are economical problems, or european problems and they really seem to not care abou t that ...
^^' politicians are often stupid.
Interesting topic , it's fun to see which country is liked more than others ^_^

in japan, from what i can draw from living there and studying politics, most japanese people are proud to be japanese, most definitely. maybe the people surveyed were not proud of the political leaders, and misunderstood the question of the survey. being proud of your country is one thing, but disapproving of PM koizumi is something many believe and is indeed different.

I'm not very proud of my countsy (Sweden), but I guess it's because we have been at peace for so long. There's simply no need for it. Naa, I'm just guessing here. Anyway I don't think it's a very bad place to live at, but still I'm not proud. Just somewhere in the middle I suppose...

I have strong agreement with current president's foreign and domestic policy and I am proud to be Texan. I just wish he would get off his butt and do something about illegal immigration and abolish social security and medicare.

Quote by mughimost surprising only 5% of Japanese surveyed was proud of their country.

Uh, no. Most definitely no. I live spent the last 6 months of last year in my residency in Japan. Who says the japanese hate their country?? This is grossly inaccurate. There are great sources of discontent with the current government's policies, but national pride is as strong as any other nation.

Good for you Boris. While I do not agree with some of your views, it's refreshing to see someone who doesn't come in and starts yelling "i hate bush he sucks". lol. Illegal immigration into the US is quite something, especially on the mexican border. Something definitely needs to be done, and not giving illegal immigrants work permits to stay and live as if they're legal. V_V

I'm from Germany.
Germany has really not a lot to be proud of.

i am definetly not proud to be a German.
Patriotism is not my kind of thought.

Germany has plenty to be proud of. I was born in Berlin, though not raised there. Between kicking the living crap out of France and building some exceptionally impressive (for the time) U-Boats, and having the first operational jet-powered fighters, the Autobahn, the panzers of the second world war, an impressive track record on weapons innovation, and lots of beer and bratwurst...I would say Germany has quite a bit to be proud of.

Now if only Germany would tell France to sod off and get out of that socialist train wreck called the EU, Germany would be back in business!

I am invincible!

I am proud to be an American. Like any country it has its flaws and problems, but on the whole I think we're all just trying to do our best. I love it here. I mean I love visiting other countries and wouldn't mind spending several years living elsewhere, but I know that I would eventually end up back here in the USA. See you around MT, my friends! :D
