I watched the anime and they left the ending as a cliffhanger!! *spoiler* Yoh defeated Hao. Whether Hao is dead or alive we do not know.. The shaman fight was postponed, and the show ended it with a ringing oracle bell..

Well, I am currently reading the manga.. I hope the ending would be better than the anime. I didn't quite like the anime ending.

It's 'bout this main chara, Yoh who participates in Shaman Fight which is held every
500 years. The goal of the fight is to become the Shaman King to unite with the Great Spirit
and create a world according to the winner's ideal. Along the way, Yoh meets some friends
who travels with him in his adventures. Then there's this villain, Hao who plans to create
a world with only shamans. Hao is actually Yoh's infamous ancestor who reincarnates
as Yoh's twin.

i'm watching shaman king now.... the anime's ending is just like what crystalbluedragoon has said, from what my friend told me... but i wonder what's the ending for the manga? if anyone can tell me?

anyway, yoh's my favourite character! ^_____^ hao is cool too. lol. what about you?

The manga is pretty good. The anime, however, was downright disappointing - detail-less, typical and just not fun to watch. I have the entire SK collection, but I stopped watching half-way because it's just not worth watching.

well saw all the episodes and to tell you the truth, no one becomes shaman king,
cuz hao took over the king of spirits and tries the fight yoh and tries to kill him, but yoh
kills him and no one is victor and the whole town dissappear's and everyone goes home
and enjoy the a normal life..........but and the end of the last episode, yoh's oracle bell rings,
meaning something good or bad happens and thats the end til the 3rd season

I've only seen the first few episodes, but I follow the manga. Sadly, they say
that the manga lost it's fan base so it was going to be cancelled before completion.

I watched the whole anime series. I have not read the manga. Neither of them become Shaman King, but Yoh does defeat Hao. I wish the ending was more conclusive, but I did really like the series.
